no when they actually started to battle it out he was healed and used his big techs after all the talking with itachi. and u r only looking at it from one side. if kishi let naruto's clones stay with him nagato would have been raped healthy or not but thats plot no jutsu so we really cant help it. so its not a disadvantage to only one character

Well Nagato/kabuto was blind sided by Itachi and never even lifted a finger against him, so you can't accurately gauge nagato off of his handicapped match, and tbh if Nagato had free will, I think the fight would've turned out very differently

thats a different story and its different for every person actually but kishi cant give him free will due to the fact that he would help them win. But kishi also let naruto have a great disadvantage not use 90% of his arsenal which is kage lvll km clones and his summons, the fight would have turned out very much in naruto's favor but again he had a war to fight in.

Ok here is what I think (again).
Of course Nagato is stronger, but Itachi has a chance and he has the means to defeat Nagato. You cannot say Itachi's intelligence cant make up for the gap between their powers, because we cannot decide it unless we see this match .
So I think if Itachi makes the first move and places Nagato under genjutsu,Itachi wins (as for breaking genjutsu,those saying Sasuke 3tomoe sharingan broke tsukuyomi,are wrong!: Itachi didnt want to kill sasuke, he let him break it) .
Now lets say Itachi doesnt use genjutsu on Nagato immediately,or nagato closes his eyes from the start and summons those animals..Itachi easily burns them with amaterasu. Shinra tensei can be withstood,and a person cannot be pulled out of susanoo that easily . Gedo mazo can be killed with totsuka sword (Im not sure though about it, i may be wrong but still gedo mazo has no effect because of yata mirror). Asura path has no effect because of yata mirror. So lets see CT. It can be cancelled if the black orb is destroyed,. That can be done if Itachi spams yasaka magatama against it IMO but even if not CT needs a few seconds while it pulls Itachi in and Itachi has time to cast one genjutsu. Even if not, he can use izanagi and while izanagi is active all Nagato's attacks are useless and Itachi can cast his genjutsu even if losing his eye. So Itachi can win but I dont say it would happen as I wrote.

Itachi's best Genjutsu is from eye contact, just don't look at his eyes. You people still haven't told me how Itachi would counter CT right from the start.

in a 1 on 1, nagato would not use the CT straight away so itachi would hit the guy with a genjutsu, or if he did use the CT, itachi would use izanagi and lets not pretend he doesn't know the how to use it

To the Nagato fans: It's pretty obvious that powerscalingwise, Nagato is superiour to Itachi
To the Itachi fans: Itachi was the one who "defeated"/sealed Nagato in the manga

not true, nagato's dog summon alone would give both naruto and bee problems, and don't forget the fact that he never used anything more than a few paths, even the yahiko deva path with nagato's freewill demonstrated a couple nice earth release techs, especially that underground mole tech he used when he smashed kyuubi naruto as he was preparing a TBB, and when he formed rock around himself to stop those kyuubi blast.

Asura path combined with human path was going to virtually solo both him and bee, please don't underestimate the ability to remove souls through mere touch. Nagato used virtually no strategy and still was going to kill two perfect jinchuuriki.

Even worse is the fact that all of the powers are stronger than what was demonstrated through the paths, which means he basically has supped up versions of all the paths. Nagato with free will was just to beastly to have into play, hence he was gimped in some form or another even in death.

but there are just few Characters that can handle renningan CT
and believe me Itachi is not one of them

and for the fanboys : Itachi is one of my 3 fav-characters and nagato is not in my list xd

Kabuto only knew Nagato's abilities with the Six Paths. He didn't even know Nagato could sense chakra. Nagato has shown he can use his powers in the most practical way.

Implication: he could've detected Itachi's sneak attack if he was actually fighting. Nagato was a friend, not a foe so absorbing or repelling Totsuka was never an option. Which by the way could've been detected with chakra sensing.
Also using Human Realm on Naruto then using a Shinra Tensei would've got the job done a lot quicker.

Itachi would be a hard foe for a lot of shinobi. However Nagato is among that small minority of characters who would prove too much for Itachi.

Nagato is all Rinnegan, a Doujutsu which gave Tobi* the confidence to enter war and the confidence to challenge Kabuto and Madara. Despite knowing what Madara was capable of.

*According to Itachi, Tobi has Madara's eye power. So that tells you how strong this eye is.

I haven't even mentioned the powers of the Outer Path. Or mentioned the fact we're talking about a stationary Nagato rather than one who is mobile.


To say Itachi can take on Nagato and possibly win is like saying Itachi can take on the Rinnegan and possibly win. I don't see that being probable.
For example, I don't see Bee, Itachi or Naruto (Naruto at that point in time) taking on Nagato one on one and winning.
