Nagato was considered one of the most powerful Shinobi as being a bearer of the rinnegan his techniques were superb and his chakra was unparalleled to even the best Shinobi because he belonged to the uzumaki clan

yes he is definitely,how much amaterasu can he through on animals and animals divided everytome they cut..itachi out of chakra and dead...not talking about edo

This image proves that Kirabi can kill Itachi 1 vs 1. Non-Edo Itachi would have been killed by the knife Kirabi threw since he wouldn't have Nagato to deflect it.

Kirabi also has more stamina and speed than Itachi, which means Kirabi can avoid Susano'o until Itachi runs out of fuel for it. Since Susano'o is out, Kirabi can kill Itachi with a TBB Barrage.
Kishi also stated that Pein was the strongest Akatsuki member, even while Itachi was alive, so yes, Nagato>Itachi.

Yes, Nagato is the strongest Akatsuki Member and with being him the leader of Akatsuki perfectly suits the naruto story.
Nagato has exceptional chakra thats why Madara planted his eyes to Nagato at very young age.
Zetsu said that No-one else except Nagato could use Gedo-Mezou after rinnegan is implanted by Madara to Nagato.
Nagato has longevity and chakra compatibilty on his side because of Uzumaki dna.
