Itachi vs a powerful opponent who is not incontrol of themselves but controlled by someone with a weaker mind than Itachi will lose.
Kabuto's mind is weaker than Itachi's, hence Nagato died.
If you have faith in Itachi let's talk about how Itachi's skill set defeats Nagato, not plot no jutsu.
Lets face it, Kabuto should have put Nagato with Madara, it would have been overkill, the Kage would have been obliterated why put him with Itachi????
Gedo mezo is not a tailed beast, we don't know how this summoning of Gedo works.

The meteor is like a pee compared to chibaku, chibaku is used for making moons, meteors are no were near the size of moons not even smaller ones like Nagato's.
Even by NU logic the kages and half the planet would be done for too.
Ok then let's use half dead Madara before he awakened Madara, but just after Hashirama made him into a tomato vs weakend Nagato that resurrected all of the konoha victims before he died.
Or we could use prime vs prime and get the same result, buuut with a cooler fight
