Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will destroy everything you love!
December 8, 2011:
In an incident that was clearly a freak accident (unless it was…dum dum duuumm…a devious attack!), a recent episode taping of Mythbusters went haywire in Dublin, California on Tuesday when the Busters were firing cannonballs at giant containers of water at the Alameda County Sheriff's Department.
Well, one of the balls missed the water and went way off course, busting through a cinderblock wall, busting down a hillside and then busting 700 yards east into a quiet, unaware suburban neighborhood – that the SF Chronicle was nice enough to point out had "children returning home from school at 4:15pm." Which didn't mean that any of the kids were in harm's way whatsoever or in the direct path of the cannonball, merely that they were just, you know, around. Lurking. Like kids do.
Oh, but the cannonball's adventure wasn't over as it busted through the front door of a home, busted up the stairs, then busting through a bedroom wall back outside where it busted across a six-laned street, finally busting right into some poor family's beige minivan.

You can read the news report in the link above to see what all the witnesses had to say. Things along the line of "EVERYONE ON THE PLANET ALMOST DIED!!!!" but it's probably best just to just shrug this one off and chalk it up to a random act of "bustification."
Busters co-host Adam Savage, in a public apology via the LA Times, said that "We feel really lucky and fortunate that, after a nearly perfect safety record over eight years, that this mishap didn't lead to anybody being injured," then offering to pay for all the damage caused by the rogue cannonball. He also tweeted: "It's true, a cannonball got away from a Mythbusters experiment in Dublin, CA. Nobody hurt thank goodness. Jamie and I toured the damage. Now it's back to SF, to meet and discuss how to keep this from ever happening again. Very intense. We're SUPER relieved no one was hurt."
And yes, for those wondering, this incident was important enough to get the famed Taiwanese Animation Treatment!
