Spoiler alert.
Just watched the movie and I thought it was alright. Pretty boring throughout most parts, tbh. The action was short and it was nothing spectacular. If you are the type of person who wants to the watch a movie solely for the fighting scenes, this movie won’t be your cup of tea. Really, it was all explosions and Rasengan-spamming, the stuff we usually see in the series. Though, the taijutsu scenes were pretty cool and what made it stand out a lot was the beautiful choreography. The animation and art was top-notch, as expected of movies.
Story-wise, I didn’t really like the plot. The concept of the Tenseigan wasn’t that intriguing and I was literally yawning Zzz every time Toneri appeared. His villainous character wasn’t menacing and intimidating at all and he had no interesting, unique abilities as a descendent of Hamura Otsutsuki. At the end of the day, he became a victim of the infamous TnJ like the majority of the villains in the series.
The movie, however, is more focused around romance. There are a lot of NH moments so NH fans will definitely wank the living shit out of this movie like the movie a lot. Most of them were pretty touching (and hilarious) but there was a saturation point when it eventually became quite annoying to see Hinata continually acting shy, embarassed and just plain weird. It took her forever to give the red scarf to Naruto. Even then, it was Naruto who told Hinata he wanted the scarf at the end. However, it was nice to see Naruto finally accepting Hinata’s love and having a family. The scene after the credit was hella cute.
The best aspect of this movie was certainly the comedy, which I thought was much better than that of the previous movies. Kishi did a superb job in making the audience laugh. Sai gained my approval in this movie. He was cracking jokes non-stop like a professional comedian, even though he didn’t really intend it to be a joke. Lol
The highlight of the movie for me was seeing kids idolising Naruto as their hero and role model. It’s amazing to see how Naruto has grown over the years. He finally gained acknowledgement from the people of his village, but not just them, the entire shinobi world as well. It was pretty heart-warming to see children greeting Naruto and giving him gifts regularly.
Sasuke’s badass appearance was another favourite moment of mine. I literally got goosebumps every time I saw him doing something. Though, we didn't get to see him do much as he only appeared in the movie for like thirty seconds in total. Sucks hard, right? Ik. :'(
All in all, I’d rate this movie a 6/10. Is it a must-watch movie for the average Naruto fans? Probably. Probably not. Hardcore fans of NH and Naruto (the character) will love this movie. I still can’t get over Naruto’s short haircut for some reason. Lol
Anyway, that’s just my insight of the movie. Feel free to ask some questions if you have any, regarding the movie. I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
Btw, I remember one rumor which said Naruto confessed his love to Sakura and he was rejected from it. I didn't see that scene, but what I did see was Naruto confessing his love to Hinata (crowd went crazy at that point).
