My reason for Trunk's Semi-Asspull powerup.

Trunks is a Hybrid just like gohan.
I mean during cell saga Vegeta said that a Saiyan/Human hybrid has more potential than a true saiyan. Take teen gohan for example when he went super enraged he killed off cell with a broken arm which super vegeta or goku ssj2 couldnt do.
Trunks is same as him + the entire planet was sharing energy with him + goku and vegeta gave their remaining powers too.
And you have to remember that the sword which trunks has is the same sword which gohan used to gain the mystic form.
Maybe this time supreme Kai dint get released from the sword instead unlocked full potential of Trunks.

While trunks getting a power up due to his rage is fine but the amount of power he gained was completely ludicrous, Him being able to fight black was a bit much of a power up, Him defeating a Fused zamasu was just utterly retarded from the writers.

Also while he is the same as gohan in terms of being a hybrid, No one, not even vegeta who trained with him twice in the time chamber notice anything special or any power hidden within him unlike gohan.

Zamasu seemed fine. He was tanking Vegito's attacks (which he should not have been, they nerfed Vegito). Then he gets destroyed by a 100 person Spirit Bomb ? Ridiculous

No he wasnt just fine, heck vegito himself said that zamasu is now having trouble healing himself up.
And trunks was powerless against him in the first place i mean he was barely able to block his attacks and was only able to do it because he subconsciously used spirit bomb. And that is the only thing which can be called a asspull i think.

And i think the spirit bomb which he used was more like the whole planet wanted zamasu to be defeated and gave their power willingly unlike for goku where goku asks for it and then the energy is passed on to him.
