He's used it before, when Chakra-Absorbing Pein absorbed the first Rasenshuriken (which was a henge of Naruto). Yahiko Pein was behind "Fat" Pein, "Fat" Pein was tackled by Naruto and the Shadow-Rasenshuriken was heading for Yahiko Pein, but then he repelled it using Shinra Tensei at the last second.
