I didn't explain myself well here sorry. I meant to compare his running speed to his attack speed. Gai pushes air. The act of pushing the air is Gai's striking speed, but the speed in which the air travels to hit the target is actually his attack speed. It's that attack speed i'm referring to while saying it's faster than his running/movement speedBold is still wrong. Every shinobi's movement speed is faster than their striking speed. 6G Gai managed to blitz Kisame without him even processing a thought [You must be registered for see links] (top panel) but yet he was able to process a few thoughts (albeit just barely) when Gai struck [You must be registered for see links]. His movement speed is faster than his striking speed. Evidence is right there. Gai had to use his movement speed to get behind Madara. The 2nd Step's punch is faster but Gai still had to go completely around Madara to land that 2nd Step [You must be registered for see links][You must be registered for see links]. That's a blitz.
He was already going while releasing the punch [@bold, yes, there was an opening from behind him, so Gai had to go completely around him and then use 2nd Step.

] So Madara covering himself was part of his plan to attack him from behindMinato was also capable to sense Obito behind him, so Madara reacting to Tobirama behind him isn't a proof the SM sensing is passive [The sensing is all passive. He's sensing even when he's using his eyes. Juubito's using both eyes there yet he still senses the build-up of chakra in Sasuke's left eye [You must be registered for see links]. So that shows sensing by being the Juubi's host is passive but what's more is that SM sensing is also passive [You must be registered for see links]. Doesn't matter whether he needs to sense or not, it's always there.

]. Actually it tend to prove even the contrary since he failed to notice Tobirama's approach until the last second. As for the Jubi Jin, it's possible though. Although i'm not totally convinced considering how inconsistent the sensing ability can be in this mangaNo, the job would be done when he actually finished the evening elephant movement. The plan was to hit him continuously with the 5steps without leaving openings. He was only at the 4th step at that moment, so the combo wasn't complete and he was still in the process to finish the comboHe didn't need to go at full speed because he knew Madara was completely trapped by the 4th Step. He knew that Madara was forced to wrap himself up in an Onmyoudon sphere because he could no longer move. Gai had done his job of not allowing Madara a single opening to attack [You must be registered for see links].
We've seen 8gated Gai going full speed from the beginning of the chapter to the end. Did Madara just at one point even showed difficulties to follow his speed? I don't thinkWow. Gai's not retarded enough to attack anyone straight forward and so I'd certainly hope he wouldn't against the Juubi's host. You're grasping at straws here.
1- Madara following and calmly analyzing Gai's air kicking speed [

] while continuing to track Gai who was behind him. Notice as well that on the bottom left panel, the onmyoudon black sphere was still feeling the pressure of the first punch. On the following page, Gai took advantage of this by using another range air cannon attack with Madara this time unable to block4- Madara could still follow Gai, but because he was immobilised due to previous air cannon attacks, he covers himself while attacking Gai with the black spheres [

]At no point, did Madara show trouble following and countering 8gated Gai's speed. The trouble was more concerning the speed of the air cannon attacks [

]No, MS only has better screenshot. Their translations are always exaggerated to the point it sometimes changes completely the sense of the japanese script. MP's translation however while lacking the cleaning department, their translation are simple, straight to the point and most of the time accurateLol, they both say the exact same thing, plus, I'm gonna trust MS since they spend more time on their scans and translations than MP.
I see you asked for the viz already anyway. And according to the viz, Minato said
"Just Keep forging on, Guy, no matter what!!"
So Minato basically told him to keep his speedy approach on Madara, which clears up the point about Gai's running speed at that moment
Lol maybe. But that would also mean they are so fast it creates circles of dust...
That isn't air currents. You do know that's dust kicked up from the ground?
