How was the Sage alone? The fact that the Juubi was killing every human being on the planet until he rose above and saved them all. Why else would he have been hailed as a God? The Moon is an example of how ridiculously OP Rikudo Sennin was. We've seen, via Nagato, Madara and Obito, what the Rinnegan is capable of. And even Madara, who has so far shown the most powerful feats with the Rinnegan, is said to only have a "fragment" of Rikudo Sennin's power.

And to top it off, he did that while on his deathbed, after having extracted the Juubi from himself.

As for how we know that Rikudo fought alone, the onus isn't on us to bring proof. So far, the manga has suggested strongly that Rikudo fought alone. The page showing Rikudo facing the Juubi portrayed him alone. Obito specifically said that he beat the Juubi, and then due to that was revered as a God. If he fought with someone, then it's only natural that they too would have become heroes. For now, everything suggests that he fought alone, and if you wish to dispute that, the onus is on you to bring counter-evidence to the table.

He was a priest, but he was most definitely a fighter as well. Just like the Uzumaki clan was a "priestly clan", but fought as well.

How else did he fight the Juubi, if not by fighting?

Well, the manga also stated that SO6P was powerfull enough to defeat Juubi,something that apparently will take 4 kages to achieve.
Since he created genjutsu,among other things, how do you know that tsuko would work on him??
It's naive to put him in a vs because we know no details of his actual powers.The only way we could measure his powers somehow is through Juubi.It seems that it's giving the whole alliance a big trouble so I take it as SO6P was powerful enough,more powerful from anyone else we've seen so far and he could fight if needed, despite being a 'priest'.

Technically yeah, you're right. I once made a thread saying that no, he isn't the strongest as he is feat-less etcetera but was based and neg rep'd because people said he can make a moon, beat the Jubi etc. However, he could have just used a fuinjutsu, end of story. That's it..doesn't prove he's strong. He could have just have had naturally high chakra reserves. This doesn't prove anything. Technically, Minato, Hashirama etcetera could beat him but I will still place Rikudo above them due to him being the originator of the ninja world.
