Do not bring Hinata to everything... Hinata is someone who is still weak despite being from a fancy clan; she got defeated to her 6 year old sibling at the age of 11; she had opportinuty to be a one of good taijutsu users; but among close range combatants she is one of the weakests by far, she is inferior to Neji, Lee an Chouji; the taijutsu users from her generation; she is not even close to them all of those three would wreck her to a pulp, being weaker is not a thing; being weak despite the fact that having feats from birth; that's the problem.

There is no reason to be negative and bash people's opinions. I actually happen to agree with Mangekyou Muslim here. Hinata's weakness came from intense pressure and a negative family. The immense pressure of being the leader of the Hyuga (especially for a gentle personalitied person like Hinata) caused her to become too worried, and because of that she wasn't able to fully use her potential. As a result of that, Hiashi and her family basically looked at Hinata like she was trash...heck Neji even considered her trash.

Kurenai pointed out that Hinata was in fact fairly capable. She mentioned that Hinata would train rigurously; however, when it became time to put application to her training, she'd always fail (due to family neglect, pressure, and a passive personality).

As I explain down below, she has changed this way to her, and as such has true potential.

OT: I would say the characters who had the most potential to develope aside from Team 7 were Lee and Hinata

Lee

I would have to say you have practically summed it up. In addition, I would also say that it is more that he was kicked out of the series after Part I as opposed to a bone breaking injury. With Tsunade's medical healing, Lee was able to once again return to Taijutsu, and we clearly saw how well he was off considering he was doing well against Kimmimaru (probably one of the strongest characters of Part I). However, with Part II he was kicked out.

A key thing to note is that he has in fact been shown to be an extremely powerful shinobi. With the War Arc, he was sent to personally deal with Pakura of the Sand...she's an incredibly talented Ninja. How can I be sure? Well to start, Kabuto only brought back the best of the best. After that, her scorch style was seen to be incredibly difficult ESPECIALLY for close range fighters. The fact Lee is alive means he more than likely was capable of dealing with her.

Hinata

Hinata is similar to Lee in the fact that she doesn't give up as we saw when she faced Neji. Like Lee and Naruto, Hinata would train hard constantly. Worse than Lee and Naruto, Hinata DID have family, but they despised her...considering her weak (ironically their pressure on her as well as their negative attitude led to her weakness). Sadly, after this she doesn't even show up for a significant role until the Invasion of Pain. And then, of course her only opponent ends up being the leader of Akatsuki. Naturally by being Naruto's enemy by plot (and OBVIOUSLY stronger than her) Pain simply wrecks her. We haven't seen her full potential for the entirety of Part II.

Lee and Hinata both suffer the same problem as the rest of the K11 (save Team Asuma): they were abandoned after Part I. However, with the war we have caught glimpses of their true potential. Hinata is now shown to be brimming with confidence, and who knows what techniques she's come up with. Similarly, we saw Rock Lee kick through the Strongest Uchiha to ever exist (until Sasuke passes him).

Neji obviously had potential, but Kishi actually made not of his talents. First off, Kishi made Neji a Jounin...that already displays that his potential was clearly above many others, and that Neji was in fact a genius. As we saw during the Chunin exams, Neji possessed abilities he should never have been able to truly learn. So while Kishi never showed his potential, he did acknowledge it was there.

Shikamaru is also a character that had a lot of potential, and luckily it was seen. Example: Hidan and Kakuzu Arc, Sasuke Retrieval Arc, and even in the War Arc Shikamaru is a Psuedo General despite his age....just happened to be in the Commander General's division. He also managed to capture Obito before nearly being Gedo Stompped.

The way I see it, the other teams outside of Team 7 had a main character.

Team Asuma: Shikamaru- The child geneous that was too lazy to apply himself.

Team Gai: Lee- The talentless Shinobi who trained Taijutsu to the extreme to make up for his faults.

Team Kurenai: Hinata- Talentless despite her Clan. Trained excessively, but could never come out on top.

^^^^Notice how finally these three have changed.

Shikamaru: Applied himself with the Sasuke Retrieval, Hidan and Kakuzu, and even now with the war.

Lee: Has finally shown to be a splendid ninja. Was fighting well against Kimmimaru, defeated himself, helped defeat Kisame, defeated Pakura, kicked Madara in half.

Hinata: Brimming with confidence. Seems to possess strong eyes (can see 10 Kilometers), Stood up to Pain, Encouraging Naruto after Neji's death.

EDIT: The only other character who showed potential was Shino....with his fight against Kankurou we saw he was a keen analyst and strategist...heck even against Zaku he showed extreme caution and intelligence....but like the other K11 (and doubly so Team Kurenai) he was cut out of the story.

I was not bashing; but i was talking about overall shinobi skills and fighting potentials; Hiashi might put pressure on her; but he has a right; Hinata is supposed to be someone who will be the head of a strong clan; which Hiashi's brother died for; of course he would choose the stronger one. Hinata has potential; but as a byakugan owner, i think potential is not just about what comes from birth; it is also about what people put over it. She is from one clan who has the strongest taijutsus; but she is really weaker than other taijutsu users; even from her age group. About her personality and confidence; everything about her revolves around Naruto way too much; people can have idols in their life; but Naruto is taking so much space. When Neji died; she did not cover his eyes for respect; and after 3 minutes; she already started thinking about how it felt to holding Naruto's hand. In Pain's invasion; her guard told her that if something happens to her; he would be in trouble, but she just left the guy there; God knows what would Hyuuga do to him. She said "this war is to protect Naruto"; she should have other things to care like her clan, the world, the village, her comrades if she wants to be a great shinobi. She is a sacrificing one; but it is only for Naruto; i would like her to show relations to other characters; i am not someone who wants to see a character to go down just because i am not a total fan of her/him, in fact i would rather see them surprise me.
You are one of those members that i actually respect; but we obviously disagree at some points. It is okay for me, i would rather have my debates with legit people. I am not a hater of any character, i just think that a person who has feats from birth can do better.

I agree on many points...I think the greatest flaw in Hinata's character is the fact that Kishi only applied her in scenarios where it revolves around Naruto.

I mean to put it simply, we have never seen Hinata in actions that don't directly involve Naruto...and I had really wished Kishi had allowed us to see the Hinata that wasn't around Naruto.

As far as the Pain invasion goes...I agree to a degree...was kind of a **** move to just abandon Ko like that despite his plea, but at the same time, someone had to go down there....no one was moving so in that regards I respect the decision.

Neji's death really was poorly done while nicely done. The speed in which they managed to get over Neji's death felt a little off, but at the same time there is a giant statue demon standing about a mile away...I was happy that Kishi made it clear that Neji's death did effect her (considering her tears), and I think he rushed through the effects of the death. If they had been stuck there for at least a chapter it would have probably been a little bit better in showing just how much the death truly effected both Naruto and Hinata, but Kishi instead decided to try on portray a more self confident and stronger willed Hinata.

I agree with you on the concept of potential. It is obvious that potential comes from what you put out above what you're given.

Lee is probably the greatest example of that...given no Gen/Ninjutsu...still wrecks as a Taijutsu specialist. He also trained to the extremes.

That was why I figured Hinata should have had a ton of potential story wise as well...despite not being born as the most talented member of her gifted clan, she still tried to work hard. With Twin Lion Fist I'd say that shows how much potential she had managed to develope as we haven't seen what it can do.

Sorry to accuse you of "Bashing", the tone I got while reading your post just felt overly condesending (which I can admit could easily have been me misreading it)!

Thanks for applying logic; you are actually accepting some points and characteristic facts; that's what many people lack... And Neji's after death chapter... it should suppose to be a tribute to him in a sense; he deserved that; even hid temmates' rections had been barely shown in 615; they shown in another chapter and in that his teammate Tenten...just go "Lee"(LoL i wanted to see how Nejiten shippers reacted to that).
Hinata is not a branch family member so she has no limitations like them; that's why i expected more potential than her; that's all.
And "bashing" thing; no need for being sorry; you gave some legit arguements unlike others; you know how base is and you can guess that i have seen so much worse.
