Because Consoles are Region Locked.

Consoles in Europe and Australia are PAL.
Consoles in Canada are NTSC-C.
Consoles in USA are NTSC-U.
Consoles in Japan, Korea and Asia in general are NTSC-J.

(But you can play NTSC-C on US Systems as well. (And the other way around))

Most of the games available are Region Free, which implies that they work on every Console out there while some other ARE region locked. For example, majority of Japan's Games are always NTSC-J. And some times you have big titles like that coming in split in PAL and NTSC (U/C & J), it's not rare and sometimes it pretty sucks when you have to wait for the game to come out in your region.

I thought that the PAL version would get leaked as well today but seems like it wasn't the case, so I'll just have to wait.

huh that used to be the case when tv sucked back in the days. but im from Europe and the ntsc version works fine by me, in fact i dont think i ever even bothered checking which one it is for my 360...all of em just work.
