Madara made many mistakes but not those, his entire plan runs on luck.

Obito essentially beat him, the only reason he has a hope of succeeding is because Naruto defeated Obito.

Obito was just minutes away from instigating Infinite Tsukuyomi, Naruto stopped him just in the nick of time, heck Madara is basically leaching off of Obito's work:

Obito gathered the Tailed Beasts into one place, through the world into a state of war, and removed the seal inside him, and then successfully hijacked Madara's entire plan. If it wasn't for Naruto, Madara would be trapped in Infinite Tsukuyomi under Obito's control.

That's the risk of depending on someone else.
The direct method doesn't have this problem.
If he revived himself using direct method, it would be him in his younger state who would be catching the bijjus.

Suggesting how something different could have happened in the story is definitely not retarded and ingnorant in the forum meant for discussion.
I hope you don't take it the wrong way.

I guess he didn't expect Hashirama to get reincarnated and pull powerups out of his ass to defeat his subordinates (Nagato/Obito)

It is completely clear that getting revived is pure luck on Madara's part.

Except that he apparently left his remains accessible and knew of edo tensei.

Why did Madara need Obito in the first place to carry out the plan?

Because Madara's life span was up and he planned to be revived at a specific time, when Akatsuki had all the bijuus and power in the world and the shinobi nations would not have had the time, intel or power to stand against him.

He could simply beat Nagato and Obito and make them loose their consciousness in his hideout. Then he would die and make Zetsu control Nagato's body to use Rinne Tensai on himself. If that somehow failed then Obito could be used.

It isn't stated Zetsu can control people to my knowledge.

After getting revived, he could start bijju collection himself.
No one at that time had the capability to beat him. It would ensure his victory.

Madara had a base sharingan and was like a hundred. He stated the mazou was the only thing keeping him alive. It's likely many could have beaten him.
