Do these 3 tutorials and then you can figure out how to combine them to do what you're looking for.

Draw it with the pen tool and then color it and add the desired effects. Its not hard to draw it out if you know how to use the pen tool. I suggest drawing it on paper first and then scanning it in and line arting it so its outlined so you have a basic guide to go off. Then go from there and draw custom shapes when needed and color it in. The almighty pen tool with knowledge of how to color and create effects can work wonders. Course you may not know how to do any of that right now so it's best you brush up on those concepts first before you attempt drawing in photoshop. You don't need a tablet either just know how to blend either using smudges.
