Hardly anyone ever refers to Minato as having one of the greatest defenses in the series, but I'm going to go ahead and say it.

Basically any attack that's about to hit Minato, will just be FTG'd away from. The greatest defense isn't just tanking every hit; it's avoiding every hit. Let's pull out one of the most overused scans in the Manga.

Minato was able to dodge one of the fastest attacks in Naruto milimeters away from his face using FTG. I think it's safe to say most attacks in Naruto arn't on par with the Raikage's speed, so most will be easy to dodge for Minato.

Is this an absolute defense? Of course not.

- Instantaneous attacks beat this defense. You can't react to instantaneous.
- A smart opponent will attack every Kunai/Seal Minato has placed all at once. While difficult, it's a possible weakness.
- Catch him off guard, which is highly unlikely, but still possible. Of course, just about any defense except Gaara's has this weakness.

Another stipulation, of course, is that Minato has to have Kunais/Seals scattered around. Otherwise, obviously it wouldn't work.

I place Minato's FTG about 5 in my top defenses in Naruto, after Susano'o, Kamui, Mokuton, Gaara's Sand (no particular order).

True and his S/T barrier also redirect every attacks where he wants, which makes it a really deadly counter-attack(just imagine him redirecting something as powerful as a Tailed Bomb on an opponent?)

^ Also a great point. ^

What do you guys think?

I don't think anyone ever mentions it because it should be obvious. I completely agree, FTG is up there with the best defenses in the Narutoverse. Especially with a user like Minato who's reaction time is extraordinary.

I fully agree! Shame Minatos over-rated to the point people hate him.

Good point bud.

Sidebar: Why isn't Naruto's BM cloak in your top list? Or is it number six?

I didn't think too hard on those, the top 5 that stuck out in my head is what I wrote down. I'm sure it's top ten.

Most of the time, Minato tends to be either very underrated, or very overrated. However, you're definitely right about this one, the Flying Thunder God technique is without a doubt one of the best ways to avoid an attack, especially when it's being used by someone with as good reflexes as Minato's.

To avoid or to attack. It's one of the best offence/defense techs out there.

Dude it also helps when ur comrades r in danger or when outnumbered he simply teleports all of them to a previous same point

and if people r assigned to minato's squad then u don't need a medical ninja along coz if anybody is injured he can simply take them back to the village hospital [if marked]
