Tobirama and Hiruzen were testing out Obito's powers so that the others would know what they're up against, Minato explains this clearly.

I thought Minato was untouchable for a second there
Oh really? On the contrary, Minato blame them for that. It's Sasuke the one who explained they were using their edo tensei body to analyse his attacks, but Minato said "the regeneration takes some time though":

A way to say it's still not wise to take attacks since you would be crippled for a long while after that

It's funny how the fight was.
Juubito upper body blitzes naruto and sasuke
Juubito lower body still could land a kick on minato even though he blocked it.

I was incorrect, as you said, it was Sasuke who explained it.

As aforementioned, should Minato even be getting hit, off-guard or not?

Minato came in with the intent to stop Obito.
You must be registered for see images

He saw that half of his body went inside the earth to the other side.

Looks behind unkowning that Obito could attack from the other half

Gets kicks because he is caught off guard.(non fatal attacks)

Tobirama did what he did but what i mean is that he couldn't avoid being crushed in half though. That was a self defense on Tobirama's part, but his body was uncapable to react fast enough to avoid the blitz, on the contrary of Minato who managed to block the attack despite being distracted(he wanted to save Naruto) and even managed to disperce his kunais before. Like Minato said, Edo regeneration take time and when you see how Muu got crippled during 10 chapters or more after getting hit by Naruto's rasengan, it's possible that Tobirama and Hiruzen would be crippled for the rest of the fight, so Hiruzen doing what he did wasn't that smart

You fail to realise that the only reason Muu was crippled was because he had to use his splitting technique in order to avoid being sealed, which cut hit power in half.

Also this chapter kinda showed how smart Hiruzen was - taking advantage of the fact that he's an edo, and being able deduce in an instant that obitos technique was similar to jinton, but with far greater shape and chakra manipulation. He also realised that there were some limits to the shape manipulation.

I never expected Obito (if he even really is Obito anymore) to be that quick, hitting KCM Edo Minato...

Hardly a true hit.

Minato was looking someplace else, seen in the bottom right corner.

If Minato was quick enough to react and block the kicks then he was obviously quick enough to teleport away from them. Obviously he knew that the kicks weren't that big of a deal, if they weren't kicks but were giant shuriken instead then he would have dodged them instead of block.

Also, Minatos clone didn't disappear so obviously the kicks weren't all that powerful. Jeez man, I don know why people always feel the need to make a tread about everything Minato does or happens to him -_-

I mean duh.. Obito blitzed both of them, without even looking, only with his legs.. that's impressive, specially to hit KCM Edo Minato. But we have to agree Minato reacting to it was also kinda impressive I guess =D

It's not that hard to believe Minato got hit, come one it's the jyuubi the strongest malevolent creature in the entire series even kage level fighters and S class criminals struggled to capture or fight just one of them so obviously all 9 combined would clearly be op and if you add Obito into that mix the result is going to one bad ass power house he's clearly one of the strongest characters in the manga with out the jyuubi so end result is fairly clear cut.
