I've got very mixed feelings on the 1st. He defeated Madara and the Nine Tails, but he and Tobirama combined couldn't take down old and weakened Sarutobi. While maybe in his prime(and even then I doubt it) Sarutobi could have pulled off beating Madara/Nine Tails(again, highly doubt it), he certainly wouldn't have done that in his weakened state. Minato was stated to have surpassed Sarutobi..

It was a timeline/plot fail by Kishi, IMO.

I have no clue who to vote here.

minato? the 1st beat madara and nine tail fox.. minato just seal it inside his son
Hashirama didn't have to beat it. Does Yamato beat Naruto when he suppresses the nine-tails? In fact does he beat the nine-tails? I wouldn't say so, maybe you would. But that is exactly what Hashirama does, he suppresses tailed beast chakra with mokuton.

I am going to explain Mokuton to some people so they understand how Hashirama's jutsu worked and why he is overrated. Mokuton is wood made of two elemental affinities, earth & water, it is wood that is infused with chakra. This chakra suppresses other chakra when used as a barricade or a trap for people. Did no one ever wonder why people just didn't break out of Yamato's wood stuff? I mean if it was just wood then they would snap it like twigs and just go on their way. But so far only Kisame has been able to bust out, and Yamato was extremely surprised at this saying, "I had his chakras in check! How did he do that?"

It suppresses all chakra, so Hashirama didn't really have to fight the nine-tails, this is how Hashirama captured so many tailed beasts. Now I cannot be sure but somewhere throughout the manga I thought I saw on one page Tobirama fighting Madara as well. That might have been just anime but I will check later, I think it was in a flashback in the Valley of the End fight.

Anyway Hashirama is overrated because we have seen him fight and from what we saw he wasn't all that great. I understand that Oro had an incomplete version of IWR, but they still had all of their abilities and he just wasn't that impressive.

Yeah, and when we have seen him fight, he was teamed up with another Kage and failed to take down an old and weakened hokage. Considering all the hype he's received, he's shown nothing for it, really.

We have not seen much of hashirama but u r underestimating him like crazy and remember that yamato's wood release is much weaker than the first and who ever said that was all he had. And this guy beat madara and called the greatest ninja of his time that is something ppl don't just say to you. madara was feared as the most infamous ninja and even strong ppl like oonoki feared the guy and said he can make any plan come true and he was beaten by the first , he is not someone weak but actually very strong but I have to say that we have not seen enough of him and a flashback might be imminent so we'll see a how he really is.

Minato is the strongest dead shinobi. And hiruzen. End of thread.
Which still doesn't make much sense at all. If Hashirama > Madara, who was shown to go toe to toe with Minato, then you would think, logically, Hashirama could take care of a old Hiruzen. Especially considering he had Tobirama helping him.

He said hiruzen and minato are basically a tie. Hiruzen in his prime was said to be the strongest shinobi ever(iruka said this) hiruzen said that minato was the strongest hokage. And if madara wouldnt have fled from the fight with minato I'm pretty sure minato would have finished him off seeing that he had the upper hand AND that he placed his seal on madara. Idk dude I'm going off what kishi said. I mean why wouldn't the main characters dad be the strongest,,, so the son can surpass his dad and be the strongest. If hashirama was stronger than minato the story would be dumb when people are telling naruto he is the only one that can surpass minato but when he surpasses him he still isnt stronger than hashirama because hashirama is stronger than minato. Get what I'm saying? sorry it's so long
