It was never stated that this is only limited to Sasuke. Minato has been stated countless times as being a genius, so this can apply for him as well. What you're using is a lazy reasoning. "He sucks with it so he can't use it well at all" is not adequate logic.

I guess many people seem to forget that when Naruto was first learning SM, he was told it would be near impossible to use in real combat since he would have to be still which wouldn't be smart to do with the enemy right in front of them which is why fusing with the toads would help eliminate that handicap or if he had comrades to buy him time. That's why Naruto was trying to learn to go SM while moving after Kurama stopped him from fusing with Pa toad and later he came up with using his clones

So how is Minato's SM worthless is he's where Naruto was right after learning SM? Unlike Naruto who is still ranked a genin, Minato was Genin then Chunin, then jounin and at last the Hokage and had more responsibilities such as B+ missions, taking on students, his occasional fights with A and Bee, being a husband and then becoming Hokage. Clearly he had less time than Naruto who haven't been on many missions except saving Gaara, looking for Sasuke and looking for Itachi; other than that he was training or fighting. I put Minato where Naruto was in Pein arc except not using Clones to help him transform since that was unique to Naruto as Pa toad said.

The fact that Minato didn't have to rely on his SM only shows how powerful his base was, I do wonder if he used it on A and Bee in at least one of their many fights since A did say he thought no one would surpass Minato

I also think he didn't use it much because it wasn't his style. Think about it, this is a guy who specializes in moving, yet he learned a jutsu that requires him to be open. It's unnatural for him. Despite that, I think he can make use of it quite well if pushed.


For instance, if he needs more power in his attacks, FTG away to his distant marks to enter SM, then FTG back to attack.





We don't even know what his standard is for "good." They could have been using Hashirama for an example for all we know, but he's definitely better than Jiraya.

That's why I mentioned his fighting style.

Sasuke's genjutsu was a joke compared to Itachi's. Yet Sasuke's genjutsu was still second to none.

Now we have Minato who's sage mode isn't in the same league as Naruto's but that doesn't mean he's terrible with it. Viz just proved he's used it in battles before.

Actually being a Uchiha isn't a requirement, Itachi was telling Kakashi, a non-Uchiha who tried to fight him that only a true Uchiha can beat him. All genjutsus follow the same rules after all. Also Sasuke broke out because of his CM and not his sharingan, well unless the CM powered up his Sharingan but the fact that activating his CM would give him more chakra, thus disrupting his chakra (1 of the ways to break out of a genjutsu). It amaze me how people use excuses to say Itachi was lying about Jiraiya beating them even though Jiraiya fought more than one opponent at a time and killed them (Pein) as Itachi said he would against him and Kisame plus backup. IT was Itachi who said all jutsus have weaknesses, a requirement on a genjutsu like that wouldn't make it a weakness if he killed all Uchihas , therefore there's no requirement for such a thing. Would go against Kishi's genjutsu rules.

@Bold Your Saying you hate Kishimoto? You Minato fans are attempting to twist that Kishimoto stated and Minato himself stated he is terrible with Sage Mode into no Shinobi has pushed him that far. I believe many Shinobi have. Obito has twice himself up until the Sage Mode reveal. Chapters ago Sage Mode was a requirement for damaging his enemy yet no Shinobi has pushed him to that point? He used it in battles before rarely on apparently ninja that were worth using it on but Juubito was not? These Un-Named Shinobi should be famous in this novel if they surpass Juubito and meet on equal terms with the Current Madara.

Because Minato is the most popular character on NB now. You either love him or you hate him . The haters just can't stay away because they are so attracted to the brilliance that is Minato but will never admit that. They feel threatened by his power and abilities (hence why each power up they get really mad) and hate how he solos single-handedly with just kunai's U_U.

Like I've said before I don't hate Minato.I just don't like it when people exaggerate his abilities.Does it really matter to you that he isn't good at SM?The guy's not perfect and it won't kill people if he's not good at everything.

No one is denying Minato's statement so far i read. You're the one denying the fact Minato can use it in battle because of said statement when not being good at something has no relationship with actually being capable to use something

It's not because one isn't good at math that he can't do math. It's not because one can't solve a complexe equation that he can't know 1+1 = 2

You people are only reading what you want to read. Minato's statement only applied in the chakra build up and the time limit of the mode, not the actual control in battle

I read the manga saying:

Minato: "Im bad at sage mode"

That's it.

Minato can only use it for 1 attack and thats it, that is why he doesn't use it.

Except no one is exaggerating, the main point of this thread is that he used it in battle before. He's used it against Madara (yes it failed, it's Madara for goodness sake). You guys slate us but don't slate the others who make absurb posts like "he can't ever use it in a fight" or "it only lasts 2 second" -_- or "Minato's not a perfect sage like Jiraya" -__________- . I mean come on, those people are just as bad.

And kishi contradicts himself which no one so far has been able to counter. Why doesn minato go into sage mode so quickly, he threw the kunai before entering sage mode and before gaara's sand went up. And in the panel where he enters sage mode, there are motion lines despite kishi indicating that the sage marks are still appearing on his face. How can minato move while going into sage mode?

Let me give an example of how this reasoning's flawed.


A samurai is heading to your location with a katana. You have an M9 pistol. You state that your M9 is crap compared to a m249 light machine gun. Does that mean the Samuri wins?


Answer: NO! You'd still slaughter the guy with the katana since your pistol, although not as good as the other guns, still makes you better than your opponent. This logic only applied if you're talking about Minato's SM VS other ninja's SM.
