I wouldn't attempt to compare the intelligence of both characters in the first place as there is no definite answer as to who is on a higher level intellectually, or even if they are on an equal level. Just because two people are fed and believe the same lie, does in no way, reveal their level of intelligence.

He didn't think it was Madara. How could he understand that it was Obito if he had unlocked his MS and even could summon Kyubi ? That's just not possible. Same about Itachi. He had seen Obito's face coz he gave his Amaterasu to Sasuke and when Tobi removed his mask Amaterasu was activated on him.
So we can guess, if Itachi knew that he wasn't Madara or not. Anyway I think we'll see everything in future.

Btw, guys I don't understand one thing. There was a huge problem between Uchiha and Konoha. So that's my question..where Minato was with his intelligence? I mean he was the Hokage, at that moment.

Thanks and all however what i find funny sometimes is what some people say in respect to itachi no knowing who obito is after spending 'time' with him, ill disregard the fact that obito hardly ever leaked any secrets and even in the DB it was claimed he kept his ms usage away from akatsuki members and focus on facts for a second.

Kakashi and obito are roughly the same age therefore in part 2 kakshi/obito = 30
In part 1 kakashi/obito = 26.

Itachi in part was 17 and part 2, 21.

The gap between kakashi/obito in relation to itachi has remained constant at
26 - 17 = 9
30 - 21 = 9.

If there is a 9 year gap, between obito/kakashi and itachi. Kakashi became jonin during the war when he and obito were 13, its this same time that obito died at the age of 13.

If obito died at 13 and there is 9 year gap between them that would mean itachi was 13-9 = 4 years old when obito died.
What i am saying is that itachi doesn't even know who obito is, from the start and might not even have heard of him before.

This in regards to minato's fans who somehow believe itachi shouldv'e known it was obito, when clearly its very hard for him to. Just to switch things up a bit. minato obviously knew of obito, he was obito's sensei. During the whole fight he never one's grasp from a sense of smell or trait in obito to note that it was one of his students?.

In other words minato's relationship with obito should allow him to decrypt the mask man's identity more so than itachi who at the time of obito's supposedly death was still an infant who knew nothing of his surroundings nor of obito.

Firstly to everyone who says Itachi was a genius: he spend some time to devise his strategy to manipulate sasuke and it failed miserably. Anytime he won a fight, he used prior knowledge to do it. Kakashi and Minato can find weaknesses in an enemy on the fly. Also, Minato was pretty much like "the only person i can think of capable of doing all these things is madara, but it can't be he's too old, never mind it doesn't matter, i just have to stop him". Because Itachi had his own business, you know? He was planning Sasuke's future, he was sick, furthermore did you see him fighting Obito? How can you jump on conclusions when Itachi most probably never seen him in action.
The Uchiha massacre was a hype and Itachi most probably killed his family while Obito did wipe out the rest of his clan...
Akatsuki was messed up in general and the only reason for him to not recognize Obito was because Kishi decide it.
Even the rest of Akatsuki didn't know about Nagato and Obito. And that makes Itachi less intelligent? Blame Kishi instead?
It's not Itachi's fault but the good plan of Obito.
Minato recognize that he's not Madara because they fight.

Not necessarily. To an uchiha, the feats that obito has portrayed is in line with their ancestor. In the end Madara did pour his knowledge into Obito after all.

Anyway there are certain topics that just become played out and never ends, this is one of them along with the strongest hokage and other's. With such topics it gets boring overtime, well until kishi comes out

Minato had only few moments to encounter tobi and concluded he was madara because of the abilities he showed.

Next, Itachi had long know obito and never said he was obito but madara. But check the anime or manga, itachi said to sasuke during their fight............ madara today is just a hollow former of himself... <<<<<< do you know what this means??? Itachi learned tobi is a copycat of madara
