Simply because Minato is the only character in this manga who elaborated a plan that span across decades(more than 16years passed since that moment) and it actually worked

Meh technically Naruto hasn't saved shit yet as of now that plan is no better than Madara's plan which is almost near completion and had alot more years of planning and if you were to argue Madaras failed because he wasn't revived correctly, Obito hasn't failed yet.

Minato's wasn't even a plan that was just a gamble and the only reason its going to happen is because it involves the main character this is no way makes himthe smartest Ninja

Notice that ninjutsu usually require handseals, rasengan doesn't. The lack of preparation needed for a Rasengan surely give an advantage to Minato over other technique users in a battle(my sig is an example of this). Rasengan is also known as the highest level of shape manipulation in this manga

Where is it stated that the profecy said it was Naruto? But nevertheless it's still a feat since he is the only one which plan worked. Don't try to downgrade that feat by sayin it's nothing since its

a little advice bogard: say something along the lines of "these are the reasons i think minato is the smartest character". if you don't say something like that in a post while claiming a character is the strongest/smartest etc you come off as extremely fanboyish.i mean don't get me are wrong: you ARE a minato fanboy, but being a little more modest might make some people take your thread more seriously.

Minato most likely doesn't know about Jiraya's little training session with enemy ninjas... thus the only possible and plausible ninja next in line to be Jiraya's student is minato's son...as jiraya said himself... its his duty to teach the 4th's child... Minato who Jiraya thought was going to be the child of prophecy.. knew it wasn't him... considering he was about to give up his life... Putting 1 and 1 together that night made him come to the conclusion WHICH he gambled with...

Everything worked out fine, but ONLY because its naruto's supreme destiny to reach where he is...
had itachi not make konoha off limits for eg, Akatsuki would have taken naruto as a kid...

Things worked out because it was impossible for the prophecy to go bad.. everyones destiny was set in place... the frog had never been wrong in his life

He simply saw thru his son as the possibility of the one who will save the world, but the fact he saw his son as the possible saviour has nothing to do with the plan itself which like i've said was awesome and it did work

And the probability of the plan working itself is on chance.

The fact remain that nothing in the profecy says it's Naruto. It's Minato the one who analysed things and noticed it could be no one else than Naruto. He then created that great plan i mentioned in the OP and worked till now. Jiraya was the one he entrusted by giving him the key to take care of Naruto when the time come, so sooner or later, Jiraya would have come to take Naruto

And the probability of the plan working itself is on chance.

Profecy or not, the plan had the same goal. To make Naruto stronger so that he could help and save the world. What was wrong in that plan? What didn't work? Nothing
