Minato isn't overrated. It's the fans that make him overrated by constantly gushing about how he is the strongest and and fastest. Minato is an incredibly powerful ninja but he isn't a God.

superman never died minato did, and not much is shown about him in the manga but im more than sure he's had some close fights in his life or maybe hes been bested in a spar. who knows.Finally, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks he's overrated. I hate characters that are too perfect and Minato seems to fit that role.
Apparently, he has no flaws! He's like Superman without the cryptonite! Too hyped, too powerful, and therefore, BORING!(I like my hero's to be darker, thank you very much).
Minato ain't overrated but he truly deserve some stars as he was capable of using best sealing technique. he was also the most powerful hokage after hasirama and is considered a hero in hidden leaf for sealing the kyuubi.:

Minato was a true genius who mastered the space time ninjutsu:whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa::whoa: and created the rasengan. but he was'nt d best. Madara may not b as fast as him but was way much stronger .

Minato fought Uchia Madara, one of the strongest ninjas that have ever lived he, And in same time he sealed the Kyuubi away, o no, he's super freaking strong

Even we can't agree whether or not he's the fastest, he's certainly in the top 3. In fact, I think the manga makes it rather clear that he is the fastest on certain occasions, and that you only find evidence to the contrary if you go out of your way to look for it. Either way, definitely top 3.
Aside from that he's got FTG, and an extremely quick attack in rasengan. His offensive power is hard to deal with, and if it comes too it, he's got Dead Demon Consuming Seal as a last resort.
i can think of a few "absolute defenses": gaara's sand, neji's spin, and kimimaro's kekkei genkai. all of these have been shown to be penetrable, though. i think what really sets minato apart is his space time barrier. that's a real absolute defense, because its not a physical barrier, so it cant be broken. even the nine tails tailed beast ball was deflected by it.

Well it's confusing, when all of you write your opinions, mostly without arguments or something like that.
Sometimes it looks like that you are blind, because firstly, the manga repeatedly, shows, when whole differently character's from different places, which should "hate" leaf ninjas, says, that he was the most greatest, the most powerfull and bla bla bla. This character, is made like a myth, like a second SO6P, and everybody just should leave him alone. How can you describe his powers or compare, if you had never seen him in action, only flashback's wich are 5sec. long ? Its "ancient" unbeatable character like SO6P only in different time, and his time has gone, now its next generation time to, find new unbeatable person, and from everything, i see, looks like, naruto will be one. It's just crazy, and stupid to compare dead character to alive one :/
P.S. Minato has died in a battle, but not from enemy hand, he died from his own jutsu, so i think it doesn't count, that he was beaten ?
