Minato is the perfect shinobi, but he does have enough raw power to take on hashirama. Minatos strongest jutsu the rasengan would have no effect on hashi at all due to him having auto healing capabilities. To put it bluntly rasengan vs mokuton is like bringing a knife to a nuclear weapon fight.

Obito was a freaking child at that time. Minato was still killed in the end by a plan started by a child.
