Minato was not only a Hokage but also a prodigy. He gave his life for the village and didn't even think twice. He sacrificed everything like Itachi. Yet he is very underrated on the base and gets a lot of hate from the fans of following characters :-
1) Sasuke :- He is a little bi-atch who didn't think about anyone else but himself. Kishi called him "pure". Purely selfish I would say. While Minato and Itachi sacrificed their lives for Konoha. Everything they did was for Konoha and peace. That is how they utilised their genius. On the other had Sasuke wanted to destroy it, kill kages etc. just to satisfy his selfish desires. What a waste of capabilities, what good is genius if used for only self welfare ?
2) Madara :- Generally the base community has scans of Madara negging Minato. Of course Madara is more powerful, heck I will even say that he is more of a prodigy, but he too like Sasuke is blinded. Though he is not as self centered as Sasuke, but his vision of peace , isnt actually his vision. Therefore, if your favourite character cant even distinguish between right and wrong or his will and somebody else's, what good are your talents for? You will always end up doing something wrong, but will do it just because you have thentered power to do so.
3) Naruto :- A dumbass Hokage with only one or two techniques in his arsenal cannot compare to a genius. He did bring peace, but that would largely be due to smarts of Kakashi and Shikamaru. The other villages only comply because he is powerful. So he has only created temporary piece. He is nowhere near as gifted as Minato and hence is an inferior character.
4) Sakura :- To her fanbase , Minato cuts her head and fodderises her. She can't beat him. So stop saying she can.
