The five edo kages wanted Sasuke to be at their said to beat Madara squad instead of fighting against Sasuke and Madara.They believe Sasuke had the requirement to become a hokage and they believe with Sasuke at their side,they will have an advantage .
I not discrediting Naruto or causing drama but current Manga Minato said Naruto catching up to Sasuke but he did not Said Sasuke is catching up to Naruto.Minato View Sasuke as a very talented shinobi but he never look at his son who he never seen for years as talented or anything significant to a shinobi.
I strongly believe if Minato was alive and the uchiha clan was still massacre ,he will adopted Sasuke .Sasuke will be treated like his favourite and discard Naruto.This is similar to Kakashi favouring Sasuke over Naruto and discarded him to Jiraya

naruto did something smart he extended his chakra arms to sasuke and then minato, and split second it touch minato he ftg away thus avoiding certain deaths.. it was smart trick and minato acknowledge it
