If gai can use gates (which requires chakra to open, thus making them technically ninjutsu), Madara should be able to use phasing (assuming he can) or Susano'o (a large chakra body that can is also restricted to the taijutsu-only rule; assuming he can't phase), in which case, I'd say Madara has a great advantage, as Gai can only use gates for so long...

I reckon guy and madara would be the perfect taijutsu match up.

Technically opening the gates counts as Kinjutsu. I know it only means forbidden but I don't know if it should count when it comes to use in a vs thread like this (pure taijutsu).

If we're talking about pure skill in hand to hand (no gates, chakra enhances, or anything outside of pure martial arts) then I say Inconclusive (Madara's prowess have not been shown to such an extnet where we can judge IMO) Gai's taijutsu fame and glory comes from his demonstration with the Gates. Gai is a great taijutsu master with and without the gates...the gates simply exceed and show his superior mastery of physical traits and emphisises his status as a taijutsu orriented shinobi...without the gates I could see a few people beating him...Madara could be one of them but it's undecided at the moment.

With gates...Idt there is much anybody can do using only taijutsu when Gai or Lee opens the gates.
