Hirodura will deal with Itachi's susanoo...If Guy's gates are open and he sees the slightest trace of amaterasu coming at him, he will quickly evade it, that's for sure. Itachi's non-eye contact genjutsu will be difficult to perform cos Guy (especially in gates) would be speeding all over him...and at the same time punching - Asakujaku (morning peacock)

Gai went 7th gates just to beat kisame without his shark form. Itachi doesn't need MS to deal with gai, every hit guy makes itachi's crow technique would put him in a genjustu all day long. sick near death itachi>>>>>>>gai

As far as damage goes it does show that he can do damage to him ie when he attacked Madada but Itachi has his speed that will counter Gai. Not only that but his skill with kunai is is unmatched . I really dont see him needing MS to beat him. If he does Tskyomi is all he will need to end the fight or just another genjutsu. Gai cant break free from genjutsu since he doesnt have chakra he cannot disrupt his chakra to free himself from the genjutsu. If you say he wont get caught by genjutsu your wrong this is Itachi he will find a way to end thr fight quickly thats his fighting style

1) Yata mirror can block any elementary ninjutsu in the world. Yata mirror can't block hirodura cos hirodura is taijutsu.

1. It doesnt need to be a elemental attack, notice sasuke strikes with his physical sword, even though its not powerful as a taijutsu attack it is proof it can block physical attacks.
2. Gai in gates is about the same as the raikage from what the manga has shown, im gonna trust the manga instead of a random user, sorry.
3. Is this stated somewhere? Itachi clearly lost considerable ability from being sick and yet sustained a 4.5 while gai is a 5. If we look at lee for example, even with gai's techniques he couldnt defeat neji, lee is also a 5, therefor a 5 in taijutsu doesnt secure a automatic win, gai has never even fought another strong taijtusu ninja so you dont have any evidence to prove your assumption
4. The raikage is the fastest ninja alive next to minato and naruto, guy is still living in the time of the raikage, so the raikage is technically faster than him, yet still was trapped in a genjutsu, as I said before speed is not immunity to genjutsu.
5. Im still gonna stick with the manga.

well you actually make sense but i don't think Guy should be compared with his student, Lee. And i don't think Madara's genjutsu that trapped the Raikage should be compared with Itachi's. And mind you, am not saying it would be too easy for Gai to win, if he wins

Seriously why are people talking about susano, tsukuyomi, legendary weapons and amaterasu. You either underestimate itachi or overestimate gai.

Gai isn't good enough to see either of these trade mark abilities just like oro/Diedara.
He loses to 3 tomoe Itachi and i can assure you that itachi is no fodder, at all.

However, if you say there must be a winner and that Itachi is too much for Guy, out of all reasoning here, we all know Guy is a good match-up for him and let's say he had a back-up...Itachi's done for good. And even without backup, Guy has a very good chance at winning this

Itachi hasn't prolonged a fight before (i know Itachi vs. Sasuke's an exception)...but same goes for Guy when he opens his gates, the fight ends there on the spot

I will agree that it would be a good match up. However, you are also forgetting that Itachi does know about Guy's abilities but Guy does not know about all of Itachi's abilities. If Guy does open the 8th gate if Itachi lets him, his Susanoo will stop him. Either sealing him away or just letting guy run out of energy hitting the Yata Mirror.

i agree that Might Gai could possibly beat Itachi Uchiha.(i was also thinking of that possibility.)
Guy's tiger thing could bite a Susanoo,Taijutsu(speed,power) is unparalell,8 gates(trouble for anyone)
but Itachi did pretty well against Nar&Bee controlled by Kabuto...(who doesnt really know his Edo/didnt win any battles in war)
Itachi is smart enough to beat any non edo...Totsukablade(wait til Guy's too tired to run around,seal him.. multiple blazes of amateratsu will tire him out, shuriken traps hit blind spots on a battlefield..Itachi points a finger......Tsukyomi.
Itachi casts genjutsu during conversation.izanami(Guy thinks he is winning while not making eye contact using up his chakra.
he's not arrogant, but too excited during battle.
