On the mining planet of K-2L, Samus Aran was born. As a child, her parents and planet were destroyed by an armada of Space Pirates lead by Ridley. Then, the orphan was founded by an extraterrestrial race known as the Chozo, who raised her on Planet Zebes to become the perfect warrior by infusing her with Chozo DNA.
They gave her an artifact that would help her sustain most dangerous enviornments: the Power Suit. She then enlisted in the Galactic Federation Police, but soon left after disagreements with her commanding officer, Adam Malkovich.
She is now a freelance bounty hunter, who is called on by the Galactic Federation Police to execute missions. Mainly, many of her missions revolve around an extraterrestrial life form used as weapons. They're called "Metroids".

[CHAPTER ONE: RETURN TO TALLON IV]

"I am setting course for Tallon IV, yet again. I remember venturing to this planet after the destruction of the Queen Parasite on that Space Pirate Frigate. I have detected abnormal heat signatures that I've never witnessed before. Could it be the return of "The Worm"? As impossible as that seems, I can never be too sure. I now find myself having no choice but to investigate the planet." - Samus Aran
Samus's gunship flies swiftly through space, hurtling towards Tallon IV. She is unsure of where to land, but eventually settles on the icy terrain of Phendrana Drifts. She scans her surrounding areas before exiting the ship. Samus takes a swift look around to notice that there are no enemies in sight.
Once a home to Baby Sheegoths, and Ice Burrowers, now an empty wasteland of frozen water and elevated, icy platforms. She ventures through the area, returning to places she had once fought Space Pirates and underwater creatures.
"Strange. It seems there are no forms of life except that of my own. Although my ship detected large amounts of heat coming from this location, there is no movement. No sound except the rushing of the icy waters and chilled winds. I have located a Save Station, making sure all of my energy is replenished and my missiles are full. I will continue to report on any suspicious activity. As for now, I must investigate further."
After exiting the Save Station, Samus notices a small figure in the water ahead. She slowly approaches it to find that it is a glowing organism. She scans it to discover it is a new form of Jelzap that was not encountered on her previous trip. This life form was known as a "Grackle Jelzap".
"Whatever this Grackle stuff is", said Samus, "it must be what's making this Jelzap glow a bright green.
The Jelzap looks at Samus, only to leap out of the water and spit liquid grackle at her. She attempts to fire missles at the creature, only to have it explode, then form back into its natural state. Then, more Grackle Jelzaps file out of the water, spitting more of the acidic substance at Samus. She finds no option but to flee from the area and enter her ship to heal.
"I am astonished at what I have discovered! It seems the heat signatures that were detected off my radar were none other than this green, glowing, and acidic substance known as "grackle". Unfortunately, I do not have a Suit that can protect me from this like my Phazon Suit helped with the dangerous, blue substance. And what's more, it looks as though every time I kill this enemy, it simply morphs back to its own state again. I have to investigate more, but I must be very stealthy. These strange enemies could kill me, and there is no doubt there are more enemies coated with grackle."
Samus exits her ship, bracing for the Jelzaps, only to discover a figure standing over the now destroyed creatures. The figure slowly turns to face Samus. It dons a blue, tattered sash, with two green, glowing machettes, and a glowing patch on its right shoulder. Its eyes are a bright yellow, with pearly white teeth that are razor sharp. His skin is a dark orange and he has talons on his hands and feet that are a very dark grey. And his head is shaped like that of an eagle, almost similair to the Chozo.
Samus raises her weapon, ready for combat, but the creature simply raises its hand, beckoning her to hold fire.
"Who are you?", asked Samus.
"I am Burgon, leader of the Gracklian race. I come seeking peace with you, and ask your business here on Tallon IV".
Samus responds almost instantly. "I am Samus Aran, intergalactic bounty hunter. I detected a large heat signature on my gunship, so I came to investigate. May I ask why the creatures you destroyed glow a bright green?"
"It is a very long story, my dear. You see, after "The Worm" was destroyed here on Tallon IV, our race came out of hiding. We had no idea who had destroyed it, but whoever did must have pissed off quite a few people. The creatures of Tallon IV become hungry for blood. They became cannabilistic, eating each other for survival. They even began to kill some of us. But unfortunately, they did not know that our 'blood' is merely an acidic substance that makes one invincible. The only way to kill something that has been infected with grackle, is to kill it with grackle itself.", said Burgon.
"Do such weapons exist?", asked Samus.
"We possess many weapons infused with grackle, but are only used for defense. We are a very peaceful race, but we cannot stand injustice and savage ways."
Samus spoke up. "I assure you, Burgon, that I am not a savage hunter. I only seek justice and have superior skills used to help protect the galaxy. I only ask that you may lend me a weapon that would help defend myself against these grackle-infested creatures."
"Very well. But you must help us if you can. Our race is on the brink of extinction as of now. We would be most grateful.", said Burgon.
"I will try my best to protect the Gracklian race and destroy any enemy that may cause a threat to your existence.", proclaimed Samus.
"Follow me then, Samus Aran.", beckoned Burgon.
"How do you know my name?", asked Samus.
"You are not the only one that can gather information, Miss Aran".
