On topic: Lol, I thought that most people already accepted hat Orochimaru was weakened when Sasuke fought him. If you didn't accept that Orochimaru was already sick before Sasuke said that in the manga, then I think you guys may like Sasuke a little too much. O_O

At Kazeshini: Lol, so then what point are you making? If we're talking about Naruto then we're speaking of everything in Naruto context, and in Naruto context, lightning beats, earth. And even in real life, how would earth be able to beat lightning. If lightning strikes a tree, which is a product of earth, the tree burns. If lightning strikes the earth itself, then it is weakened, or nothing happens at all. What is the earth going to do? Grab the lightning?

DOnt compare Naruto to sasuke in the revenge area, Naruto wanted revenge because someone killed the closest thign he had to a dad(Jiraiya), thats one person
Sasuke lost how many? 30?40?100? so how can you even come close to compare that
Sasuke is a good character and he is powerful as hell, Sasuke would have won no matter what, When orochimaru invaded his mind to take his body thats where sasuke won it, Sharingan would have worked either way, so in the actual physical battle yes if orochimaru was at full streangth sasuke would have died but tahts not what orochimaru wanted now was it?

I thought that after Sasuke wounded (he refused to kill) around 100 ninja at one training session (i.e. 100 vs Sasuke all at once) without a scratch he remarked how much better Sasuke is at that age compared to Orochimaru at that age and Orochimaru was considered a genius.
Now experienced Orochimaru against young Sasuke is different. It would've been one hell of a fight, and I think Kishimoto wanted to save those for Deidara and Itachi. This also allowed the development of Kabuto.
The main reason Orochimaru lost is he was quite weak, and his dimensional body take over jutsu failed again after failing to Itachi's normal Sharingan. Honestly you'd think he'd learn. Orochimaru knew Sasuke was coming and was falling back on that jutsu to win because of his weakened state.
If Jiraiya fought Naruto seriously at that point, Naruto would've had to go 4-tails with an incomplete FRS and no sage mode. Also, I think the toads would've sided with Jiraiya.

I wonder about kabutos development though, should we really count orochimaru out? just feels like kishimoto left a possibility that he will make a comeback after fully taking over kabutos body.. oro is the type of character that's seemingly impossible to get rid of I suppose his comeback would be futile even if it would happen since sasuke now would have both his and oro's powers

quite honestly even if oro could have beat sasuke before he can't do it now that sasuke has ms. although I can see kabutomaru becoming strongpretty much spot on
