Madara was nearly drowning in lava, with time only it would work.

You cant get concentrated acid mist in open space, moreover it can simply be blown away. And as i said, sasuke was low on chakra. When he received more from zetsu those mist was pathetic in comparison.

Clearly danzo would dealt with the mist both of mei and zabuza, fire release would also work due to fire expansion, even susanoo will clap its hand and create and area to live for seconds.

So it takes susanoo to bath in lava and take acid sauna for mei to win

It was water style. Meaning she didn't ad acid at all. Being in an enclosed space helps her raise the PH level, but doesn't dominate it. All it does is make it require less chakra and last longer. She couldn't risk using it near the kages though. Her techniques are so deadly, she's dangerous to her allies.

and some one with the rare wind affinity probably wouldn't have much trouble with those, I agree with that.

in this particular fight we're talking about between Mei x Sasuke, Mei had the clear advantage and could have killed him if he didn't run away (granted he was tired already).

even though, her jutsus make her pretty dangerous for susanoo users. yeah, if we imagine other scenarios (specially on open area) won't be that easy for her to trap a susanoo user.
combination of that lava bath and acid sauna would be needed xD

She is definitely underrated, but it's not like you can totally blame people for it. Her feats aren't near as good enough to go toe- to -toe with some of the other kages.
