The concept of using elements in tandem with medical skills to achieve certain effects is pretty cool, and something I'll probably play around with in customs.

Saisei (Regeneration)

A healing technique is useless when a portion of a patient's body has been destroyed. Burns from fire or acid, nerve damage from toxin, lung damage from some diseases, all simply can't be healed away because the body has literally no means to correct them. This technique remedies the problem. By using healthy skin, muscle and other tissues, portions of a patient's body can be reconstructed. This technique can correct most forms of damage but requires great effort on the part of the medical nin and in the case of injuries that have gone unhealed for too long, the technique is only partially effective. Some portion of the damaged area must be remaining in order to reconstruct it so it is not possible to reconstruct missing limbs with this technique.

This is done by inhibiting the cell cycle control molecules that impede division in cells, and up-regulating the proteins that promote cell division, this then reforms the tissue from the remaining cells, though doing so carries the risk of pushing the cells beyond their tolerance and as such may caused transcription errors in the DNA and RNA of the cells, so great care and skill is required with this skill

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Saibō no saisei) Medical Technique: Cellular regeneration

Description: The medical ninja forcibly controls the cell cycle of the target tissue, causing rapid proliferation of the cells, thereby regenerating the tissue. This is done by infusing the cells of the target tissue with the users own healing chakra, triggering mitosis and tissue growth. The drawback of this technique is that its not actually a healing technique but a tissue growth technique. It can serve to grow missing tissue but it cannot heal in the truest essence of the word and in essence is a much simpler application of the Mystic Palm technique.

This technique is not a healing one, but is one that allows you to regrow tissue back when damaged, provided it is not fully lost. You can't use it to fix broken bones or damaged organs though. And it also won't stop blood loss. It just fixes the damage, not heals you.

Okay then, last 2 lessons before the jutsu list.

Souzou Dokubutsu (Poison Creation)

Just as there are many naturally occurring substances that can be combined in order to heal, there are many naturally occurring substances that can be used to harm. Using your knowledge of plants and minerals you are able to mix together a variety of drugs and poisons that can range from disabling to deadly.

The principle behind it is the same as behind , with a Poison needing the same components (Active Ingredients & Solvents/Mediums). The only change is that a Medicine is intended to help heal and treat a patient and a Poison is intented to harm him or her.

There are two aspects to consider here:
  • Canon Poison techniques and Poisons
  • Custom Poison creation
The end result of this class is basically allowing enough knowledge on how to correctly use canon poisons and how to create your own poison. More than specifics, as the principles are already explained in the Medicine Creation class, we'll be talking about limits and definition of what you can do and how you can do it for a custom poison.

So, Canon Poison Techniques?

Ok, we will start dissecting all the techniques currently available as well as all canon poisons. One thing to note, however, is that there is a difference between Poison Ninjutsu and a Poison. Poison Ninjutsu or Dokuton/Doku is the ability to shape, mold and transform your chakra into harmful substances that you create and use to attack your enemies. Poisons are substances you create with herbs and other substances, mixing them together, and carry with you to poison your tools, weapons and even taint your usage of Poison Ninjutsu. They are both linked but are different.

Now, Poison Ninjutsu will always create the poison substance defined in the technique. When someone creates a Poison Ninjutsu technique, he or she will create a technique that uses chakra to create a substance that is only used in that technique and has specific effects. This poison cannot poison weapons, tools, anything. Its simply created by the technique to do its job and thats it. Its bound by the technique.



What about Custom Poisons?

As a medical ninja you are given the knowledge and ability to create your own unique poisonous substance by mixing various other substances together. This unique substance can be used to poison weapons, tools, etc. It can't be manipulated with existing canon poison techniques but you can make techniques to manipulate it. You'll always need a small quantity of it with you to use these techniques however, and it needs to be defined and stated in your bio that your weapons are poisoned with the substance.

How do I make a custom Poison?

Well, same way you make a Medicine really. You need active ingredients and a medium/solvent. You mix it together to create a given substance you can then use to poison enemies.

As such, your poison will need a name. Well, duh! And a creator...You! It will also fall within a given "type". This pertains to what it will actually affect in your enemy. Will it affect his mind and nerves? His muscles? His ionic balance? His coagulation? His breathing? His heart? Etc etc. After that, you need to describe what the ingrdients in it are, what they do and how all of it mixes together to create your poison. You need to define in this section what your poison actually looks like (is it a poweder, a solid, a liquid, a gas, what color is it, etc) and what can affect it and how (will it evaporate under heat? will it become faster acting with cold? etc etc). Finally, we come to the description of Effects. In this section you need to describe a list of effects, from the first one to appear (normally, the mildest symptom/effect comes first) and the progression of effects until the ultimate one, followed by a list which describes how long it takes for a poisoned individual to start feeling each effects (in a timely sequence), depending on how he was poisoned (a liquid for example can poison through skin contact, ingestion or injection but each of these methods will induce the poisoning effects in different timings) and any other information needed in terms of effects and symptoms of the poisoning.



Iryo Fuuinjutsu (Medical Sealing Ninja Techniques)

As Medical Ninjas, you have various fields in which you can further specialize in, applying the various skills you learned in basic medical training to develop and learn more specific and unique skills. From those, there is one bound to those that have already learned regular sealing techniques. Medical Sealing Ninja Techniques or Iryo Fuuinjutsu. In other words, this is an advanced class in which you'll learn how to improve your usage of sealing techniques via the knowledge of medical arts and how to use sealing arts to improve medical treatment success.

Its recommended that you read the as most of this class will be set upon the basic stuff thats described there.

So, what exactly changes in regards to how seals work for medical ninjas?

Lets begin by each component of a seal and detail what you can now use seals to do:*

*This refers to the possibilities the skill and knowledge might allow you and not to abilities that are now applicable to all seals. Each seal will abide by what is described in it so a seal that requires a paper tag will still require it, regardless of being used by a medical ninja or a regular ninja. In truth, this knowledge is more important for custom seal crafting than anything.
  • The Object/Target of the Seal - This is what you'll seal. As a medical ninja you can now seal the abilities of another ninja, as well as the chakra flow, any and every biological aspect of his fisiology, injuries, organs, body parts and even other more abstract things like fatigue or memories. The possibilities become much broader now that you have mastered how Ninjutsu can be used to affect the ninja body.
  • The Medium/Vessel - This is the "thing" in which you'll seal your target. As a medical ninja, what trully changes is that you have enough knowledge of the chakra flow and ninja body to use it as a medium for seals. This means you can place seals in your own body or that of others, not requiring a pre-made medium like a paper tag for example. The seal can then be done "in loco" and doesn't need to be pre-prepared before.
  • The Trigger - This is what will activate the sealing technique. The main change here is that you can set a seal to trigger on broader aspects, including biological ones of your target. For example, you can make a seal that will seal off adrenaline production in a ninja in case his supra-renal glands produce more than X amount. Or you can make a seal that will render the target unconscious, sealing his consciousness for X amount of time if he experiences pain above Y level. Also, you become able to place seal on contact without handseals.
  • The Binding - Medical ninja or not, this doesn't really change much. The only rule is that you'll always need a kanji formula that can be made with or without handseals or written in a medium or not.
  • Chakra - No difference here. As a medical ninja you still need to apply chakra to your seals for them to work. The main thing to take is that you can make auto-suficient seals like the Jinchuriki binding seals. Basically, seals that rely not only on your chakra but that of external sources or even, if place in a living medium, chakra of said medium to be sustained.
  • The Key - Only thing here is that you can, like with the trigger, create and setup more elaborate keys for your seals.

In summary, as a medical ninja, you become more adept at using a basic skill in more specialized ways linked to your knowledge of the ninja body, chakra (and its energies), etc while taking advantage of your increased chakra control and precision. Think of it as Water Release and Rain. Water Release is the basic skill of using chakra to manipulate and create water for techniques. Rain is simply an advanced usage of that basic skill that enables control over even atmospheric water, allowing control over Rain and other similar phenomenons. Additionally, Medical Ninjas become able to release, disrupt and cancel stronger seals as they have more knowledge and control over sealing techniques in general. The seals they produce can also have longer ranges, require less handseals and be of higher strength.

Ok, so we can seal more stuff in more complex ways. What about empowerment seals?

Empowerment seals are seals made to empower you and your abilities. They can be done in various ways. Its a special usage of seals where there are many things you can do but you always need to adhere to the rule that a seal serves the purpose of sealing and unsealing something and if it is to empower you, that needs to be how it works. For example, Tsunade and Sakura have a seal that empowers them by sealing chakra through long periods of time, releasing it only when they need more power and empowering them as a result.

This seems more and more like a field for combat and custom making...

In a way, it is. However, its also through this field you gain access to the various medical sealing techniques you can find and which we will discuss in detail, one by one.



In the past, medical students were able to specialise in one of three fields, and these are 2 of them. However, now you need to buy them separately.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Chakra No Ito) - Medical Technique: Chakra Threads
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This jutsu makes threads of chakra that the user weaves around the target, somewhat similar to those used by puppet users. The threads then embed themselves into the target and connect both the user's chakra flow and the target's chakra flow directly by the tenketsu surrounding their hearts and in that area. Because of this, the heart rate and chakra frequency of both ninjas equalize and become in-sync in the areas surrounding their hearts. Upon doing this, any alteration between the chakra flow of one ninja will affect the other in the same manner. If one ninja dies, so does the other. These threads are unbreakable unless you use a strong cutting jutsu (A-Rank and above). The technique can also be used to keep an ally alive by sharing with him ones life-force and forcefully making his heart beat as it feeds off the users own heart. This technique only affects the heart but as it's the primary organ to sustain life, it can easily affect the targets and user's life.
Note: Only Medninja or Fuuma Clan members can use this jutsu.

You have to be careful when using this technique as if the person you are treating dies, then you will die too. Also, if they are under the influence of genjutsu, and you connect with them, you will become placed under it too.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Masui Sejutsu) - Medical Technique: Secret Anesthesia Technique

Description: The user will charge a special chakra into one of his hands manifesting it as an ethereal pure chakra familiar, resembling a snake. It will then bite the patient, injecting chakra into him. This chakra is designed to render a patient unconscious. The effect takes some time to establish and the patient needs to be still for it to be successful but is very useful to perform surgery, suturing wounds, setting bones straight, etc as it effectively sedates the patient and acts as a general anesthesia. While it can be used in battle, its almost impossible to do so because of the time it takes for the sedation to work and the need for the connection to remain intact until it does work.
Note: Lasts 2 turns

This technique is for sedating a patient in order to work on them. It could also be used in battle, but that would be unlikely as it takes a while for it to work, and the opponent has to be still the whole time, which I doubt they would do.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Chakra no Mesu) - Medical Technique: Chakra Scalpel

Description: Chakra no Mesu is a special Ninjutsu technique used by medical ninjas. The ninja will focus chakra to their hands. This medical technique then enables the users chakra to transform into small, sharp blades. This can then be used for highly accurate incisions necessary for surgeries and anatomical dissections. Unlike regular metal scalpels, the chakra scalpel can make cuts inside the body without actually creating an open wound, limiting the risks of an infection (although it can also be used to cut the external tissues as well). The chakra scalpel can also be used offensively, although it requires great precision to be effective. Because of this requirement, using the chakra scalpel offensively is highly unusual. In heated combat, even the greatest medical-nin won't be able to exert the precision needed to make fatal cuts, but it can still effectively cut muscle tissues and tendons, rendering the target immobile. Adding to the technique's blade like quality, it also appears to give the user an increased level of durability over their chakra clad hands. The strength and effects of the technique are determined by how much chakra is put into it and how much skill and focus the user has in the technique. Its effects vary according to the targeted body though to cut through strong tissues such as bone, great skill, focus and chakra is needed. The effect can be sustained while the user focuses chakra into it.
Note: Can only be used by Canon Medical Bios or NB Medical Ninjas.

This is also more used for working on patients, as it would be difficult to attack opponents with it in battle. You have to sustain focus on it whilst it is active.

Yeah, seems like a lot of these techniques aren't really fit for use in the middle of battle. The principle behind the jutsu are definitely something to keep in mind tho.

I notice that the Chakra Scalpel has lower limit chakra and damage values of a C-Rank, but its lowest usable rank is D-Rank. Simple error I'm guessing?

(Iryo Ninjutsu: Tsuyoi Kōsen) - Medical Ninjutsu: Strong Beam
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short - Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: A high level medical technique in which the user gathers medical chakra, akin to the Shosen Jutsu technique, into his index and middle fingers, forming a dense chakra focus point. This chakra quickly changes from a light, translucent green to a heavy, bright red color as the user points his fingers outwards, unleashing a powerful chakra beam. The chakra beam, however, has different properties from normal chakra and, unlike the technique which serves as its basis, has no healing effect, quite the contrary. If it hits an enemy living organism, its aggressive nature injures the targeted tissues, creating an effect similar to a severe burn. The cells burst open as if having been hit by a high temperature, reducing themselves to a mushy pulp as the beam travels through them. If undefended, the beam can easily pierce through an enemy in a fast manner. The travelling speed of the beam is akin to that of a similar ranked lightning technique. The down side of the technique is that, when it collides with an elemental technique, it acts as a simple, concentrate chakra beam, capable of overcoming B-Rank defenses and only being negated by A-Rank ones.

Unlike a lot of other medical techniques, this one is actually meant for offensive purposes. It is on par with elemental attacks.

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Iryō Mōdo) - Medical Technique: Medical Mode
Type: Supplementary
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30 ( -30 per turn )
Damage points: N/A ( Heals up to 50 damage per turn )
Description: After forming 4 hand seals, this mode envelops the user in a flowing blue chakra and allows them to constantly heal themselves in the midst of battle while at the same time boosting their stamina and vitality as it replenishes their strength and health. The limitation of the technique in terms of healing is it's low speed and inability to heal lost limbs. The technique lasts for three turns before deactivation.
Note: Must have medical training.
Note: Can only be used twice per event.

Unlike Mystic Palm technique, which allows you to heal up to 200 damage, this one only allows for healing up to 50 damage per turn. However, the advantage that this one has is that once activated, you don't have to pay attention to it. You can perform other techniques at the same time that it is active in subsequent turns. Note that its activation does cost a move though.

Strong Beam is an interesting one lol. Seems like a decent offensive technique to pull out in a pinch.

Yup, a battle-oriented healing technique. A 150 HP replenishment is pretty good by today's standard, the only potential drawback being that it'll be hard to find an opportunity to activate this without ceding some control of the battle or leaving yourself fairly open.

And finally, the pills.

(Heishi Piru) Soldier Pills
Type:
Supplementary
Description and Background: Soldier pills are a more combat aimed variation of the military ration pill. Upon ingesting the pill, your chakra supply doubles, but burns at a greatly accelerated rate due to the "pressure" involved. Upon ingesting the pill, any ninjutsu you use gains +15 damage and any taijutsu gains +10 for 4 turns. Upon expiration of the effects you must use an extra 10 chakra for every technique afterwards for 5 turns with no enhanced effects due to the fatigue setting in meaning you have to force your techniques more, and thereby adding to the toll it takes on your body. These pills are a basic medicine medical ninjas use in combat and are essentially black small round pills which are swallowed and absorbed through the mucosa in the stomach, made off of various ingredients and medicinal herbs as well as stimulants. Can only be given out to up to 4 times, excluding the user's use.
Description of Side Effects:
-Upon using a second pill in a conflict the additional chakra cost after expiry rises to +30 until healed
-Upon taking a third pill, the medical ninja will suffer cardiac arrest upon expiry of the pill.
-Costs a move per turn to use.

The famous soldier pills, abused in the past. Now there are more restrictions on them, such as only being allowed to give them out up to 4 times to others. People used to give them out like candy before lol. Note that this technique actually increases the chakra limit cap, so doubling the chakra is allowed. It costs a move in the turn that you ingest it, but does not in subsequent moves. Although it costs a move, you can use it in the same time frame as another technique within reason. Of course, if your technique requires hand seals for example, it would be difficult to pop a pill in at the same time.

(Hyōrōgan) Military Ration Pills
Type:
Healing
Description and Background: Military Rations Pills (兵糧丸, Hyōrōgan) are special pills that replenish one's chakra and nourish the body. It is made up of powerful stimulants and nutrients, said to allow the user to keep fighting for three days and three nights without rest. Replenishes 50 percent of the user's maximum chakra supply per pill taken, along with pumping stimulants into the body to alleviate tiredness. These pills are a basic medicine medical ninjas use or distribute in combat and are essentially dark brown small round pills which are swallowed and absorbed through the mucosa in the stomach. Can only be given out to up to 4 times, excluding the user's use.
Description of Side Effects:
-Taking two pills in a conflict results in hyper-stimulation of the cardiovascular system. The users heart rate and blood pressure increase to the point they become painful for 6 turns after taking the pill.
-Taking 3 pills in a conflict pushes the user's cardiovascular system to breaking point, resulting in heart failure after 4 turns.
-Costs a move per turn to use.

This is similar to the soldier pills, although this one does not enhance attacks, and does not increase chakra as much. It also has different side effects.

(Ketsueki no Zōka Piru) Blood Replenishing Pill
Type:
Healing
Description and Background: Contains high concentrations of amino acids, iron and mitosis inducing enzymes designed to turbo boost the production of erythrocytes from haematopoetic stem cells in the human body. This pill alleviates and cancels the symptoms of blood loss after one turn. These pills are a basic medicine medical ninjas use or administer in combat and are essentially dark red small round pills which are swallowed and absorbed through the mucosa in the stomach
Description of Side Effects:
-Taking 2 pills leads to increased blood pressure, and increased likelihood of blood clots forming, specially through trauma.
-Taking 3 pills over stresses the cardiovascular system and causes fainting from lack of blood to the head after 4 turns.
-Costs a move per turn to use.

Different from the previous two, this one cancels blood loss and also replenishes lost blood. Take care if you use more than 1, because if you take a blow with 2, you will be susceptible to clots forming in your blood.

(Bijūgan) - Tailed Beast Drug
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A (-10 per turn)
Damage: N/A (-10 to user per turn)(+20 to Taijutsu and Ninjutsu)
Description: These are pills in a capsulated form that give the user a heightened transformation. When activated, the user gains a chakra cloak with tails that can range from one to four tails — though the precise amount of tails generated by the user depends on the amount of chakra they have. The tails are capable of being used as a shield deflecting kunai, taijutsu or ninjutsu and are able to manifest into Tailed Beast Chakra Arms. If the user is rendered unconscious, the cloak will disappear. The chakra shroud protects the user from damage and grants him a high reduction of 25 damage from techniques.
Note: Lasts 3 turns each use. For every 500 chakra the user has, the user gains an additional tail starting with 2 at 500 chakra (500 chakra = 2 tails, 1000 chakra = 3 tails, 1500 chakra = 4, etc).
Note: Can be used up to 3 times per battle. Should the duration of one use be near its end, using another pill will extend this 3 more turns.
Note: After one usage, the user becomes unable to perform higher than S rank techniques for two turns. After two usages, this time doubles and affects the users S ranks as well. During the third use, the user will suffer 20 damage per turn and be unable to use A ranks and above after it ends for three turns.
Note: Requires Doctor Specialty to have on bio and costs a move per turn to use.

This drug has only recently been added and was not there when I was learning med. It mimics a jinchuuriki's tails, giving more power to the user. However it appears to damage the user a bit every turn too. Also, you have to have the doctor specialty to be able to use it.

Do the soldier pills double your cap and your current chakra pool at the same time upon ingestion? Or does it only increase your cap and you need to increase your own reserves yourself?

I can see the blood pills being useful in select situations, but they're nothing to write home about really.

This is an interesting one. I wonder if its possible to emulate other Biju skills, albeit in a weaker form of course, through the use of the pill?

Yeah it automatically increases both. So if you have 1600 chakra at the beginning of battle and you use it, you will automatically have 3200 chakra then. If you're someways along the fight already and say you have 1100 chakra left, then you will get 2200 by using the pill.

No, you can only do what's in the description. So you can make tails and transform them into chakra hands, tank damage and increase your attack power. Any other questions? o-o
