LooksMayuri is a girl with black hair and green irises. Her hair forms fringes that sweep from either side. Mayuri's outfit is simple and comfortable, consisting of a light blue one-piece dress and a hat of the same color. She also wears leggings underneath her clothing. She carries a pouch on her back which carries the normal tool a ninja needs: kunai, shuriken, wire, flash grenade, smoke grenade, etc.
PersonalityShe possesses a somewhat childish attitude for someone of her age, still interested with childish merchandise and is a bit of an airhead. Mayuri likes to give cute nicknames to familiar people like Rintarou (Okarin) and refers to herself as Mayushii. Despite being acting younger than what she looks like, she is also responsible for Rintarou's well-being, usually tending to his needs most of the time. She would put her own safety on risk in order to protect the happiness of her love ones. Even though she can be considered a bit clumsy and awkward, her charming personality attracts and puts a smile on every person she meets.

Mayuri was born in Konohagkure after the incident with the Nine-Tailed Fox breaking out and attacking the village. Mayuri's father was a noble-man in the main branch of the Hyuuga clan that had fought gallantly in the battle but unfortunately had met his end during the incident. Mayuri's mother, fearing another incident involving the Bijuu, decided to leave the village in order to keep her newborn daughter safe. Mayuri's mother took her to a small village in the Land of Water. The village was near the Village Hidden in the Mist so it had a veil of hidden mist over it where it became difficult to see through. Mayuri had lived in these conditions for about eight years. When she turned eight, Mayuri's mother began teaching her the ways of the shinobi and taught her how to fend for herself in the ninja world. Mayuri's mother told her that they weren't safe in the Land of Water and would be forced to leave as refugees. They left the land as soon as they could, with hunter-nin on their heels.They eventually made their way to the Land of Lightning and decided to enter the Village Hidden in the Clouds as normal citizens. While there, Mayuri attended normal school but she had always felt a bit left out and different. While in school, she was bullied by some larger boys that had been attending the Ninja Academy. Just then, a boy appeared and told them to piss off, she was saved by a boy named Okabe Rintarou. He had been two years older then Mayuri but he was kinder then any of the other kids in school had been. Okabe had spent long days with Mayuri and their friendship flourished. Eventually, Okabe introduced her to his friend Hashida Itaru. Hashida was a plump young boy about the same age as Okabe. Okabe told Mayuri about his plan to become the world's greatest mad scientist and rule over it one day. Mayuri told him that she would be his hostage so that the world couldn't stop him, but she really just wanted to stay close to him.
When they came of age, Okabe and Hashida graduated from school and rented out an apartment from a large, muscluar man that Okabe called "Mr. Braun". He constantly raised the rent on the apartment to upset Okabe. Okabe made the apartment their laboratory for their science experiments and Mayuri would always visit after she attended school. Okabe would leave with Mayuri to go attend many public, science forums in Kumogakure and small villages nearby. While attending one of the meetings, Okabe met a girl named Makise Kurisu. She had been a very intelligent scientist at only the age of 17. She had come from the Land of Fire and when she met Okabe, Okabe took a liking to her and invited her to come to the lab and join as a lab member. Makise told Okabe that she would only stay there for a few months until she had to return to Konohagakure, her stay extended when she found out that Mayuri had been a hostage for Okabe, believing that she had really been a hostage.While out travelling and contemplating his studies, Okabe walked around in a small village and had happened upon a woman who wore glasses and had a light orange-colored hairstyle. She had been wondering around and looking for someone that had lived in an apartment in a place with lightning. Okabe saw her and tried to help her find that person. Okabe took her to his place in Kumogakure and had her stay there. Okabe didn't realize that she was looking for him but she did. Moeka was her name. She had stayed with them for a long time and became close friends with them.
Mayuri had been happy that she was meeting all these new people and felt like she finally fit in with a group of people. She wasn't alone anymore. Mayuri's mother had been happy as well, unfortunately, she was caught by Kumogakure ninja while shopping out at night and was deported back to Konohagakure. Mayuri wasn't found out however and she was able to live in Kumogakure as long as she wasn't found out. Mayuri was forced to find a job. She had found this interesting cosplay cafe who was ran by a woman with pink hair and cat ears. She enjoyed this girl's company and decided that would be the best place to work at. Her name was Rumiho Ahiha but while at work, she prefereed Feyris-Nyan. Feyris had wanted to check the living conditions of Mayuri and since she spent a lot of time with Okabe and Hashida at the lab, she went there. While there, Hashida had fallen in love with Feyris-Nyan and her cosplaying ways, of course this at the time was only an infatuation. Feyris eventually invited Okabe and Hashida to her cafe and after long talks they became close friends. Feyris was made into another lab member by Okabe soon after.Mr.Braun had been running a small ramen shop and needed a new employee so he got a person named Amane Suzuha to work for him. She had been a brown-haired girl that was constantly hyper. Okabe met Amane after leaving the lab and Amane took a liking to Okabe, thinking he was an interesting person that would be fun for her to be around. When Amane first went up to the lab, she met Makise Kurisu. Amane took an instant disliking to the Makise Kurisu but nobody knew why. Due to Amane's dislking of her, Makise took a returned disliking to Amane. Mayuri would usually have to serve as a buffer between the two and Amane was finally invited to being a member of the lab after becoming an employee for Mr.Braun.
Okabe had told the lab members of a friend of his that was coming to visit Kumogakure for a while and told them that they werre staying with them for the time that they would be there. When she came in, she were greeted warmly by all the lab members, besides of course Moeka. They had short black hair and wore a casual clothes. Her name was Ruka Urushibara. She was easily accepted in the lab group. Mayuri, especially, felt close to Ruka. Mayuri would often use her as her dummy when making cosplay outfits and always thought she looked cute. Ruka turns out to be a guy.Mayuri spent a long time with the lab group but the lab group eventually began to break apart as time went by. All the members eventually had to return to where they were from or focus on other aspects of their lives and stop going to the lab. Unfortunately, Mayuri had been found out by Kumogakure as being a fugitive from Konohagakure. Mayuri wasn't seen as an enemy however because she spent long amounts of time in Kumogakure and was a loyal citizen so they allowed her to stay as long as she carried out missions for them. Mayuri still stays with Okabe while she isn't on missions and is still her hostage.
