Ahh I read that Mario manga too. To be honest the Mario character and the woman he gave the earring too looked a bit like an adult Obito and Rin to me lol. It was a good story, a lot of readers of Naruto that have gotten older as the story has gone on over the years will appreciate a mature story like this. I noticed there's a sign in the story that has the bottom half of the letters that spell Naruto in the city on one frame too.
The story has humour too, it made me laugh- Mario = WORST HOUSE GUEST EVER!! He always pulls a gun on someone! XD
Obito lookalike or not, I wouldn't invite him to my house unless I had a death wish!

I think it's more he is trying to use previous material in this. Example: Epilogue Naruto and Older Obito have Mario's hair, the buildings are similar. More of an eater egg.

I was just about to make this thread. And i was thinking the same thing, I remember when the One shot released and was interested immediately. Kishi should take a break and get back into things starting by making this manga. Would love it to get expanded on.
