I still don't get how someone with brain cells can equate Obito killing ppl for his own purpose to Itachi making the best decision out of scenario that would have inevitably led to the extermination of the Uchiha anyway. Nagato didn't have to destroy Konoha. He chose to. But I agree calling Obito 'cool' is definitely the wrong choice of words for someone who has the done the things he has done.

Firstly they are brothers. At one point in time Sasuke deeply loved and admired Itachi. Also he knew at that point that Itachi was completing a mission on behalf of the leaf and which he himself chose to undergo. He knew Itachi stopped a war because of his actions.

What was Obito's and Naruto's relationship and what exactly did Obito do on behalf of the leaf? Lol

So why are you surprised Naruto thinks Obito is cool?

That's obviously because fans of the manga are not tantamount to the characters in the manga itself. Fans, neutrals, and even haters in some cases find Obito "cool", partially "cool", or admire his character or parts of his character, for reasons that more often than not, have little to do with morality. Supporting a villain in Naruto, any other manga, or any other type of fiction doesn't mean that you actually agree with his or her actions. This is obviously not the case for characters within the bounds of the manga itself, such as Naruto. Yes, Naruto was obviously not referring to Obito the villain when he called him "the coolest guy", but the innocent and hero-like Obito who wanted to be Hokage, but that's still a vacuous comment to make which leaves a bitter taste. Most terrorists, thugs, criminals and the like start off as lovely people, but you aren't going to say "He was so cool back then!" Imagine if someone said such a thing about Bin Laden? It's insulting to all those affected by his heinous actions. Yeah, that's why Naruto's "coolest guy" dialogue was stupid beyond belief in my opinion.
