Who said Sasuke's rinnegen genjutsu was superior plus he only intended to subdue Sakura for some time, while Itachi tortures his victims for hours all Sasuke did was stab her, not to mention the strain Tsukiuyomi causes to the caster, no such effects were seen on Sasuke, my point is it may be more powerful jutsu but clearly if you are talking superior you have to consider a lot of other things too like chakra consuption, reusing it over and over again, who can counter it etc.

Oh and I am not saying Sasuke is better at genjutsu then Itachi, because he isn't, and that would be stupid.
