Yay! Here you get a general discussion thread by suggestion of Ira. I think this is pretty dope ^_^ She even said she'd stick it for some time, so let's have fun!

Now some general info:
Ao no exorcist (Blue exorcist- 青の祓魔師) is a manga written and illustrated by Kazue Katō that follows the life of Okumura Rin, a teenage boy that is a tad problematic (engages easily in fights and has some temper) yet good natured. He and his twin brother (Okumura Yukio) were raised by Father Shiro Fujimoto since they were born. The reason for this, however, is a mystery for Rin (and I'd dare to say that for me as well lol If you read the manga, you'll know that it's quite the mystery what exactly was Shiro thinking or what in the world is Mephisto planning), who is busy trying to find his way in life. Nonetheless his mundane life will change dramatically when he finds out the world we humans know is actually one of the two dimensions of this verse (Assiah), the remaining one being the world of demons (Gehenna). These two dimensions are joined as one, like a mirror. Normally nor humans nor demons can travel across or even have any kind of interaction with the opposing world, but this might soon change (I suspect we might read an arc of Rin and co. traveling to Gehenna...since there's a portal now...).
Usually the only kind of interaction possible between these two worlds is on demons part, who can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan, the god of demons, has exactly that in mind, but he lacks something: and that's a powerful enough vessel to contain him!! Rin will soon find out that such vessel is...him. Created for that purpose, he is the son of Satan (tadum!) and a human woman (and thus he can exist naturally in both worlds)... What will Rin do regarding this?

The original post of this thread was this:
I'm not going to bother posting pages and commenting as usual. If any of you read it, give this thread a shot and then we'll talk!
The only things I'll say for now is: what in the world?! o_O Suddenly I feel like everything is so twisted! >:<
Also, re-reading the impure king arc, I noticed that Shima being the traitor wasn't as far-fetched as I believed at the beginning. Far before I read these chapters I realized why would Shima be the spy. Really good stuff.
We can start from this or discuss the previous chapters, whichever you prefer :p
Let's also discuss top10's, fav panels, characters, raws or whatever is related with this fantastic shonen (I'll even admit discussions about the anime hum!)
Now, I'll wait for Ira to kindly edit the tittle of the thread ^_^

I'd like to add a FAQ section:
1. Does it have an anime
Yes, it has a 25-episode anime plus an OVA ("Kuro's Trip Away from Home") and a movie (Ao no exorcist Gekijouban) launched a bit earlier this year .Does the anime diverge from the manga? Indeed. Quich leads to the next faq:
2. At what point does the anime diverge from the manga/from what chapter should I pick the manga from?
The anime diverges on the second fight against Amaimon (episodes 15-16). I'd recommend reading from the manga chapter #12.
3. Shoulder I read this manga?/ Is it worth reading?
Well if ya like action shonen manga, demon-related stories, plot twists, amazing character development and have some time between your hands, then YES! Go read Ao no Exorcist!
4. Is the anime worth watching/good?
Well, I hadn't watched it all, but for what I've seen it has an awesome animation, good OST and seiyus. Until it diverges from the manga, I'd say it is worth watching.
5. Will the anime get a second season/reboot?
Hum...can't tell. I hope it gets a reboot cuz can't see how'd they pull a second season with the ending the anime had. Ao no exorcist has been quite successful in Japan (true, not as successful as OP, but it has had a remarkable volume of sells), and there seems to be quite some interest from A-1 Pictures' staff. Only time will tell.
6. Is the movie any good?
I hadn't watched it myself (I will, next weekend prolly), but for what I've heard it's pretty enjoyable and decent.

Can't think on another FAQ.

Re: Whoa! Ao no exorcist (Blue exorcist) chapter 51 and 52!

It was pretty awesome. It gave her more debt as a character. It would be awesome if she could take control of the nine tails and use it as her own power. The manga is starting to pick up.

Let's make it a general discussion thread for the story and latest chapters and we can properly talk about it. Fix the first post a bit accordingly if you wish and let me know, I can fix the title for you. I will even sticky it for sometime at least so that people get aware of this thread.

Re: General and new chapter thread! Ao no exorcist (Blue exorcist)

C'mon ppl! Let's keep the thread alive. I'll start with a quick question:
What did ya think of Shima's reasons for being a Illuminati spy? Do you think he will have a change of heart?
Personally I think it's possible, given the way he looks at Izumo and his reaction to her hit:

I just hope it isn't too cheesy and Kato gives Shima proper development. Oh, well. Let's have faith in her Lol
On another note, who doesn't love Mephisto's t-shirt?

Lol

Re: General and new chapter thread! Ao no exorcist (Blue exorcist)

I didn't find her mom funny but too stupid, naive and selfish. Izumo was right about her being spoiled. The so called fiance was only after her to take control of land- she should have noticed that much at least. :(

Shima is going to change sides I think. It looks like and that's how shonnens go usually. :p

Hum. Well, part of me was thinkin "LOL" and another was like: "Oh my, she's stupid". But then I realized it's actually the general depiction of kitsune what we were seeing with a bit of a twist (would I say comedy? You know, in the way she wasn't a housewife at all), since it's common that female-fox-like characters are devoted housewives, or seducers or something along these lines. It is also common that kitsunes are depicted as tricksters and such. Noticing such helped me to enjoy the chapter a lot more, because at least Kato's portrayal was funny (in a sense).
Also, it kind of made sense why she was so obsessed with marrying the guy, the Kamiki family was created with the main purpose of interbreeding with a fox god and for the duty of appeasing the nine-tails for the sake of the Inami family...You could say her role was dictated since the beginning, since even the name was a formality as well.
Also, while she was selfish, I do not believe her negative thoughts towards Izumo and Tsukumo raised out of nowhere. She might be an idiot, but even idiots feel hurt when rejected in such a sharp way. So I think she might have felt guilt (auto-imposed guilt) for not being the appropriate woman for her fiance. It isn't uncommon that guilt thoughts guide with time irrational feelings of anger and frustration. Now, I believe the nine-tails sensed this and boosted such thoughts till she fell completely into madness. Like what was happening with Yukio. Hell, Shiro is also an example. He felt hurt and confused for a moment and then bam! Satan took advantage of such small opening.
I hope I made some sense. Perhaps I read too much into it, but even if so, it's interesting XD It's cool when the ideas pop in your mind XD
About Shima. That's probably the case (Even tho that never happened in Soul Eater), but oh well. Let's just see what Kato does.

Yea.. I think you misunderstood what I said.

I understand the depiction of her character and it's obvious that the finace was also part of the trap set for the mother and daughter. They planned it out alluring her and then dumping her that way to make her concentration weak. I am not questioning the reasoning or plot. But for the very reason that the family was suppose to carry out such a big responsibility she should have been trained to be a little more cautious and be aware of what was going on around her. She could still have met the same fate but then I wouldn't call her an idiot. That's all.

Bold: well, she was a very strong Miko. Her power was stronger than any of her predecessors...perhaps she just was overconfident because of that Xd

Oh well. What I don't understand is Mephisto's doing. Takara was simply a coordinator that was keeping an eye on the exwires, and in the festival, his goal was to ensure Izumo's transfer...? Like why? o_O Why Mephisto wanted to make sure that happened? Any theories or explanations...o_o
I also suspect Tsukumo might not even be alive...

Re: Ao no exorcist (Blue exorcist):General and the latest chapter thread!

I am a bad theorist. :p and Mephisto is unpredictable to an extent. But why would they kill Tsukumo?
I'm also a bad theorist xd
Not exactly kill, but I don't see what would stop them experimenting on her before urgently needing to "recover" Izumo. Aside the fact Takara had her good-charm doll. He said she "left it to him". In my experience with shonen manga the characters only leave precious objects behind in tragic circumstances Xd Not the best theory ever I admit, I'd rather called hunch.
On another note: have you watched the movie? I still haven't. I doubt I will today, but tomorrow has some good chances...

Woot! Last chapter was crazy! Damn illuminati for taking advantage of Izumo's unstable situation and fool of a mother Tamako!! Ugh, such selfish people has me indulging in a bit of sickness to my stomach faster than Shima gets turned down by girls!

Movie? No. I read the manga only.
xd Well, I still haven't watched it. Doesn't matter in the end XD

Ikr? But well, the things I want to see the most is how the rest will unfold, seems promising.
Tho I still feel a bit disappointed regarding the lack of fighting to protect the school. Since Mephisto said the school was being attacked I thought the ex-wires plus Yukio would need to do a bit of fighting before leaving for Izumo. But the next chapter they were out. It was almost too easy xD
Anyway, there new chapter is out...in japanese Xd For whoever that wants to see it:
I like the new cover :) It's awesome. We finally have the popularity ranking! Surprised to see the kind tho...
Dammit, the new chapter seems intense.
HOLY $HIT! The new chapter is translated! On imgur tho:

F... I hate that pig now. It's done. Gah! Izumo was always my fav and now this. And that last page!! (Never seen in a shonen manga a character with such a hopeless look -well, I probably did, but this one is...brrr, oh god, she seems ready to die >.>- BRRR...Can't stand it...Now I feel like my man, Uchihabrat, getting the same feeling in the stomach.

This series without a doubt could easily potentially reached to Top 3 if only it's a weekly manga and if the Anime is ongoing not being on Hiatus. Obviously, it will eventually get worse if the anime caught up and ended up non stop of fillers.

But I understand by taking month breaks will easily spark up the good quality for the sake of the story, it's a pain to wait, but no need to rush, especially the manga right now is so god damn good!!

It's not so much the one month thing that's a problem as FMA has proven that even a monthly series can achieve a high status (same applies to Attack on Titan, however in this case it's mainly due to the popularity of the anime and not the manga. Personally I still don't get what the hype is all about as I don't find the series that particularly special). The problem is that 23 pages are simply laughable for a monthly series. Then you also need to take into account that AnE doesn't always appear regularly.

I don't like either the direction the series has been going the past few chapters. First the betrayal of Renzo and now this entire family drama around Izumo, which I find plainly stupid. I mean they only showed the father once, but he looks unbelievable dull, no charisma whatsoever, but doesn't care about his children at all just because he is supposedly not good with children. Still for some reason Izumo's mom is all over him and becomes completely mental when he wants to ditch her simply because their children exist and she then blames her children for it too -.-

I Watch the series for Satins children I am really curious who the other 5-6 are and what there king domains will be. I am also keeping my finger's crossed to see Amaimon go into a full on battle as well.
