Kishimoto said he doesnt know to develop female characters properly.
Most females in manga in general are weak in the beginning and mess up alot. They are labled as useless and get more critcism as they fail while their victories are overlooked.
Sakura
Orihime from bleach
Nami from One Piece
Lucy from Fairy tail etc..
Yes I know this, but it hasn't stopped Kishi from producing such strong, poignant female characters like Tsunade, Kurotsuchi and Hinata. These characters are fantastic and proof that he can write for female characters. Their development may not be as deep sometimes but they are just as strong in personality. Female characters around here, especially the strong ones get treated like sh*t.
Which is a shame because when anime female leads are done right they are REALLY DONE RIGHT.

and Izumo from Blue Exorcist. Strong female characters are becoming very evident in Japanese manga and general media and Kishimoto himself as a range of good women characters. It's no excuse.
