Her primary outfit is a typical schoolgirl outfit and a trench coat with a cloak-like end, a white blouse with a yellow sweater vest, a red plaid skirt, and black boots with white buckles. When fighting, she usually wears white gloves. Her hair is ash blonde and always in pigtails, although there are certain times at her home where she will wear them in buns or straight down, or sometimes styled on formal occasions. She has large olive green eyes.
Personality:
Maka is bright, cheerful, direct and confident, competitive and can often let her emotions get the better of her. She sometimes forgets to take into consideration of other people's feelings, which results in conflict. She is also stubborn, foolhardy, gloomy-natured and is quick to resort to violence. Despite her mature and serious demeanour, she shows some child-like girlish traits.
Although usually polite to her seniors, she has a rather informal and sometimes even tomboyish way of speaking with her friends.
Maka is enthusiastic, but sometimes takes her enthusiasm too far and can be bossy at times. However, overtime, she can admit to her mistakes and is not too proud to apologize. She is kind and caring to her friends, sometimes showing a gentler side to her usually assertive personality. She will not hesitate to do anything to help her friends. But her willing to help is not limited to her friends, as she will stop to help out or encourage even strangers that she finds are having a hard time,
Even though Maka is usually confident in herself, she can be extremely sensitive when someone scorns her abilities, and she often falls into a depression and questions on how weak she is.

Background Info.
History:
Maka was born in a smaller place in Iwagakure and at that time, the village was very peaceful. She lived with her parents, but due to their obligation as ninjas, they often left on missions. For days, weeks, maybe even months, the little girl stayed with her grandfather, doing all kinds of chores and jobs necessary for the two of them to survive until her parents came back again. Her grandfather was a well known ninja and the villagers threated him very kindly. From time to time, he gave Maka fighting lessons, taught her to use a kunai, throw a shuriken, wield a sword, use the simplest jutsus and often told her stories about great battles and ninja legends. But she was just a small girl, and it didn’t interest her that much. Maka had no reason to become a ninja nor join the academy. She had a family, neighbourhood friends, money was a small problem but they managed.
Two years later, when she turned 10, the village was in loss, there wasn’t enough money, food, water. Each villager had to struggle to get what he needs for his family. It made many people change their way of life, start stealing, killing, causing harm around. Everything was falling apart. Maka’s home place was taken over by a group of bad people who came out of the village. They put high taxes, took things from people who were already poor, often by force. They searched their homes and took the last drop of water they found. Most ninjas were on missions, trying to earn money and few were left to protect the innocent people who were having a hard time.
Maka’s mom and dad left before the bandits took over and had no idea about what was happening. She managed to get money on her own but it wasn’t enough. Not only she was starving, but the bandits beat her up, wounded her and tortured her grandfather.
He was far too old to fight back and unfortunately, after some time, he died. Maka was left alone for a week, hiding, crying, praying for help.
After that long lasted week had past, her parents came back to the village. They brought back some money and paid off the bills, however, people begged them for help. They were kind and had no other choice but to give money until there wasn’t enough left for themselves. The bandits who came knocking on the door every morning were very angry because none of the villagers had enough money. They started raging, destroying things, hurting people carelessly, causing fear. Maka’s parents tried fighting to protect their child but they were worn out and exhausted. They ended up begging them not to hurt their little girl who was crying her eyes out by this scene. The bandits left with a big smile on their face leaving the family behind without any leftovers. The last pieces of food were already given to Maka and so her mom and dad starved to death.
Some time later, a bigger group of ninjas from a village not that far away arrived, chasing the bandits out of the place. The village was getting stabilised again. Maka decided to get stronger and joined the academy. She lived at her close friend’s house as they offered her to stay for some time. She studied a lot, read a lot of books, always trying to be on top of the class. After some time, she gratuated, got stronger, joined a team and her life was full of adventures. Although she gained friends she shared good memories with, she never forgot the terrible things happening during her childhood. She didn’t have a family to care about her. But that didn’t stop her, it encouraged her to carry on and protect her village from such things happening again.
