nah, you're being "one of those guys", his character was awesome
No, I didn't like his character. His greatest purpose was to show Tobi wasn't Madara, his greatest purpose was only to add to the enigma that was Tobi. He had cool moves but beyond that he was shallow. And even then his power turns into a flaw. So OP he didn't care about ungodly strength like Sage Mode and Juubi Jinchuriki power. That's a Mary Sue type of mistake. When you hype up such incredible power, you don't proceed to shit on it by having a character's response be "oh".
His ideology is stuff we've seen before through Nagato and Tobi, they did it first. Except they weren't hypocrital freaks deluded by their own grandeur who said they wanted peace one page then said they wanted to crush skulls the next.
Everything Madara is, was achieved by someone else. Obito, Akatsuki, Kabuto, Madara's plan would've been destroyed without them doing all the work, then he takes credit. Hell, he can't even control his so called pawns in the first place. Obito was never his ally and even took a massive shit on him when he became the first Juubi Jinchuriki. And yet again, someone else had to pull Madara out of the gutter once that happened.
Then he became the Juubi Jinchuriki himself, and continued what Obito had already started. Kudos to him for achieving IT though, too bad it was never his plan in the first place and he was only a pawn in a bigger game the entire time.
His only redeeming quality is his power, and that has a limit. Beyond that he's your typical and shallow.
