Though he got what he came for, Madara lost the fight and that is blatantly obvious now and a documented fact. He was however victorious in the sense that he got what he came for, but though the win was a close one, to say he bested Hashirama in that fight is something he himself and the Manga would deny, as he even acknowledged that he was defeated.

Madara was fodderized by Hashirama. He had no chakra left to keep the sharingan activated. He barely clung onto life until, most likely, he used the remains of the wood clone to implant in himself.

Sure, Madara could have planned all he wanted, but he failed to kill Hashirama and take his cells. Instead, he used the wood clone as an opportunity to fulfill his dream anyhow. So if anything, Hashirama bailed him out of a complete fail.

I don't think that works like that

1. Wood clones are made from wood, so it's not possible to transplant them into wounds and grow.

2. Madara has never stated his goal was to kill madara, all we know now is he wanted cells and he did not need to kill hashirama for that

Kyuubi was collateral damage, if he went to the fight unprepared he would have died making his plan meaningless but I get this feeling that madara saw a much bigger picture than the vote fight. He lost but I don't think it mattered
