There have been complaints throughout the Uchiha brothers' fight about Itachi's skills. Why didn't he dodge this? Why is he so hurt from that? The latest chapters open up some possibilities.
According to Zetsu, Itachi was weakened or injured before the fight even started. He said, "That definitely was NOT Itachi's TRUE power..."
The first support for this claim is the shuriken hitting Itachi in the leg.
Zetsu comments that "With Itachi's ability, he should have been able to avoid the attack."
Also notice Itachi's vision. The blurriness and the darkness are easily explained with impending blindness. HOWEVER, notice Itachi has DOUBLE VISION, most clearly shown by looking at Sasuke's head and sword.
Double vision is NOT caused by blindness. It is cause by loss of muscle control usually by severe blood loss or intoxication. Exhaustion and intoxication seem likely (POISON explains these). Notice that Itachi already seems out of breath, one of the effects of poisoning.
Sasuke comments that Itachi is suffering from the side effect of Tsukiyoumi implying that Itachi was not harmed from Sasuke escaped it, but from the jutsu itself.
This is false. Itachi has used Tsukiyoumi twice previously, once on Kakashi and once on Sasuke plus the Amaterasu against Jiraiya's jutsu. He was tired, but he did NOT suffer these side effects.
Here, Itachi has already bled from his eye from Amaterasu, and you will notice he coughed up blood BEFORE Susanoo.
Amaterasu did not cause his eye to bleed last time, and he certainly was not bleeding internally causing him to spit up blood last time. Sasuke has not landed ANY attack that would cause Itachi to bleed internally (chest or abdomen hit).
This is during Susanoo after Itachi has been hit with Kirin.
At this point, bleeding out of his mouth could be justified by the power of Kirin, but the HEART SPASM cannot be explained. CHEST PAIN and HEART PALPITATION are also caused by poisoning. Itachi plans to take Sasuke's eyes and become immortal. He WOULD NOT use this jutsu if it was fatal.
This evidence supports my theory that Madara POISONED Itachi because he wants to use Sasuke to regain his power. This is not far-fetched as Itachi and Orochimaru have both already tried to take Sasuke's body for power.
When he was sitting on his statue, Madara ponders whether Sasuke will remain a snake or become a hawk. He also says his eyes will surpass Itachi's.
Madara could even have created a poison specifically designed to react with the Sharingan, which would explain why Itachi's MS jutsus have such horrible side effects THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE BEFORE. We've already seen an example of this. At first, Sasuke could not use Sharingan with the Curse Seal.
When did Madara poisoned Itachi?
Madara poisoned Itachi before he met up with the Konoha Nin. They're in the same vicinity. Hell, a Naruto clone managed to find Sasuke.
Why does he know where Itachi is?
Two good explanations.
1. Itachi himself said Madara is his mentor. It makes sense that Madara would know where his apprentice is.
2. Even better explanation, Kakashi said that Tobi isn't fighting them seriously. He's stalling them. If Tobi is stalling the Konoha Nin from reaching Sasuke and Itachi, it follows that he knows where they are. How else could he stop them from getting there?
Madara believes that Sasuke's sharingan will surpass Itachi's. He said this. (Oro made this claim as well in part 1) I believe that he wants to develop Sasuke's potential. Defeating Itachi, whether by increasing his hatred or whatever, will make Sasuke stronger. Madara's ultimate goal would be to use Sasuke (By body snatching or eye snatching or whatever) to regain his power.
Plus here's some valid points:
Pein lied to Itachi about Sasuke's death, so there's a real confusion, which leads to speculation of animosity between Itachi and Tobi.
Itachi wants to surpass Madara, and Tobi seems to know everything of what's going on.
Like I said before Tobi knows everything, so he know Sasuke doesn't have the MS and no CS won't get him that far (but good enough). So even the gamefield by poisoning Itachi.
Naruto was originally Itachi's jinchuuriki. However, Madara recently ordered Pain to capture Naruto. He probably did this because he knew Itachi wouldn't be around much longer, since Madara planned on taking him out.
Now if you argue that the horrible side effects produced from the sharingan/mangekyo sharingan are caused by the fact that Itachi has way over used the Sharingan, this would only make sense if he had these side effects from the beginning, but he did not.
There's nothing in the manga that suggests the horrible side effects of the MS jutsus, effects that were NEVER seen in any other fight.
This is the page where Madara is in bed. He is emotionally crushed from going blind. This page specifically says:
"That is the inevitable fate of all who obtain the Mangekyou Sharingan. In exchange for their extraordinary power, the user ends up sealing his own eyes away, forever robbing himself of the light.
Madara did everything he could free himself from the darkness, but his efforts were all in vain. He fell into despair..."
He was in bed because he was totally BLIND and had fallen into despair.
There is NOTHING about terrible effects of the MS jutsus such as bleeding of the eyes, heart pain, etc. In fact, since he went blind so fast (he was barely aged), he probably must have used the MS jutsus constantly, which makes no sense IF there were horrible side effects.
There you go. Thanks for reading all of it, those that did.
I know my limits... That's why I'm breaking them!!!
