So, after some time of trying to manage it alone, I finally have come to the realization that I might need a Senpai. As you know, being my senpai does grant more than just the ability to teach others in the basic 5. My previous two senpai have both gone somewhat far in the RP and one of the two has gone on to become quite talented in the RP. Those who have become my senpais have grown to be talented rpears and powerful ninjas, respected in their skills by many. Shady Doctor and Ciberr both learned, with my skills and experience, and took advantage of that to become stronger and have a more knowledgeable database of the canon jutsu. Shady Doctor became almost a PS of mine in return for helping me with my training, I dedicate time and effort. I also expect my senpais to take the sensei test and groom them into becoming senseis if they so wish. Becoming my senpai will enable you to help perfect your knowledge of the RP and the Ninja Skills we can use but it will also enable you to work towards the RP into teaching others and hopefully attaining senseiship yourself. This said, I'm also very demanding towards my senpais and I expect near perfect and detailed, very detailed, trainings and conduct; despite how skilled my previous senpais have or haven't become, their attitude and conduct towards the RP is less than satisfactory, something I do not tolerate or appreciate. This time around, I'm looking for someone with better patience, understanding of the RP, and above all, respectful and decent conduct. So don't apply if you don't want to put in the effort.
Apply, however, if you: -Want to teach others
-Want to better your knowledge of ninpo and the concepts behind Chakra
-Want to work for the community, in this case, RP community, to help better it
-Have a good online time Requirements: -Mastery over at least 3 elements
-S-Class Ninja rank
-Been a member for at least 4 months
-Decent RP conduct, and by extension, conduct on the main forum To apply, I need you to reply to this test, which I will then grade:
1) Explain, in your own words, what is a ninja.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
I dont expect many applications; no one wants to be a senpai of an "a******" but nonetheless, I'll be checking the thread periodically over the course of the next week or two and if someone that is satisfactory to my standards is found, I will announce it and close the thread. If not, I won't be able to continue elemental trainings. Until then, have fun applying!
A ninja in the narutoverse is a warrior a sorts, a man or woman that fight for their personal believes, or the believes of others. They utilize a vast range of techniques and teachings in order to aid them both in battle and in simple tasks like building houses or anything related to the sort. Many ninja specialize in the usage of ninjutsu techniques, which by extension, allow some to even manipulate the basic elements; Wind, Earth, Fire, Water & Lightning. Some ninjas are restricted to a more dedicated form of ninjutsu which consist of the "raw" usage of chakra to manipulate weapons, utilize scrolls, tags and stuff of that nature. Other ninja specialize in the usage of taijutsu which is a form of close combat fighting, utilizing one's own body to deal blows and strikes as well as enhance their body to achieve greater heights. Others specialize in the field known as genjutsu, the illusionary arts. It is a more advanced version of "ninjutsu" sending out own's own chakra and imbuing it in the target's system, causing them to enter a state in which they see false images of reality. Some ninja are able to combine all fields together while others specialize in certain ones.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
Chakra is a form of "energy" that roams around the body. It's a form of stamina, without it, one would be very weak and unable to produce the techniques mentioned above; Taijutsu, Ninjutsu & Genjutsu. Chakra is "created" by moulding both physical and spiritual energy into one entity. Chakra can be "evolved" in a way in order to perform elemental chakra, thus opening the doors to a greater number of techniques and usages. In the Narutoverse every living organism has to a certain extent, chakra. Even though so may not know how to utilize or channel it, everyone has their own fair share of it.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
Although I believe I've covered it a bit in my first question I'll try to be a bit more specific. Ninjutsu utilizes the user's chakra in order to perform "out of this world" tasks, like enlarging the size of a shuriken, transforming one's body to appear as something entirely different or possibly multiplying one's self. That is a more raw chakra oriented use. With time and training one is able to unlock or simply better their usage of chakra in order to manipulate elemental affinities, thus allowing one's better their usage and strength in ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is a very universal field that expands to all other fields regarding chakra usage to their own extent. Another field that ties in closely with ninjutsu would be genjutsu, and that is the more precise and specialized usage of chakra. The user will release his chakra outwards and disrupt the opponent's own chakra system, inducing them in an desired illusion, causing the target to see things that are not really there. Depending on the strength of the illusion the user has the potentially to mentally damage a target. The last basic field of the ninja skills would be taijutsu, or also known as close combat. Taijutsu revolves around the usage of one's own body to deal strikes to the desired target. If one is experienced with the usage of ninjutsu and chakra one can also incorporate the chakra into the their body, allowing them to perform stronger and faster strikes depending on the situation at hand. That being said, one does not need to utilize chakra in order to perform taijutsu techniques. This field relies heavily on the usage and training of one's own physical body.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
By definition, regular ninjutsu does not exist. Anything related to chakra usage would more or less fall under the field of ninjutsu. However in our RolePlaying system 'Regular Ninjutsu' would consist in the usage of raw chakra to perform ninja techniques. Something along the lines of the shadow clone technique, rasengan, killing intent, shuriken enlargement technique, silent homide technique and a variety of other techniques. That in mind would fall and allow "Regular Ninjutsu" to exist.
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
I would like to say Water & Earth as those are the basic universal symbols of life. This was further exemplified when Hashirama combined said elements together to create Wood release, further creating an example of "life".
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
The wind element. In the narutoverse the wind element for some reason is a very rare release. The wind element more or less utilizes the manipulation of air in order to circulate/manipulate the currents to perform techniques that are either forceful or simply cutting edge, or in some cases both.
7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
Wind Release; Wind release as mentioned above, relies on the manipulation of air currents or simple release of wind, further manipulated to either perform forceful techniques that physically pull back the target or draw it towards it. Wind release can be shape manipulated to be very thin thus allowing on to cut with it like a knife. It's main uses in the anime have been to either cut the target or simply forcefully push them backwards due to the severe strength of the winds. Wind release is a natural insulator it is strong against lightning release, having the strength necessary to successfully disperse it. Wind release is also a great supplement to use with fire release, allowing the oxygen in the wind to further fuel the flames, thus increasing it's size. It can not only increase it's size but it can also increase the speed and force of fire techniques by forcefully pushing them as well as increasing their speed in the process. Although it is a great supplement for fire, fire is also the natural enemy of wind. When opposing against each other, depending on the strength and size, the fire will always come out on top, not necessarily fueling it, but not putting it out either, simply weakening it. Wind release is very useful as a defensive technique, being very popular in the usage of vortexes in order to push back targets or simply blow away debris/substances from one's body. The wind element is one of the most versatile elements there are, simply because it is not bound to the ground like earth release for example. Wind release can be used from the ground, from the sides, or even the sky. It has limitless usages. Aside from those usages, wind release has also been seen used to argument the cutting strength of bladed objects, both increasing their range and lethality. In some cases, projectiles have been seen to have increase in speed due to the nature of wind release. Wind release is an overall useful element, being able to use it both defensively and offensively, as well as supplementary at times
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
This is a very touchy subject in our RP. Sometimes people ignore the size and characteristics of a technique and simply rely on ranks. Simply because one shionbi releases a massive wave of water, it does not mean a golf sized ball of fire would be able to combat it, and vise versa. Even taking elemental weakness and strength into consideration, if the mass and volume is greater, it will always or most of the time, continue forward as a small and concentrated technique of greater strength clashes against it. In our roleplay concentration and precision is always relied upon. A more concentrated attack is prone to deal more damage than a less focused and wide spread attack at is not concentrated. For example, one cannot simply take out an entire tsunami wave of water with a single blade of wind, although it may be stronger in rank, the small and thin blade of wind will merely slice a portion of the wave while leaving the rest of the water's volume to disperse from the sides, potentially hitting the target depending on the situation and terrain at hand.
9) What do handseals do?
Hand seals are use to moderate the amount of chakra released from the system in order to successfully execute a ninjutsu or genjutsu related technique. It allows the user to mould the necessary chakra in order to perform the desired effects. If the hand seals are not done correctly or not enough are performed, a large or complex technique has the high potential of simply dispersing or not coming to "life" in it's creation state.
10) What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
Kekkei Genkai is a special bloodline trait that allows the ninja involved to utilize special techniques or elements. In some cases, the user is able to modify or manipulate their own body. In other cases the user is able to manipulate and combine two elemental affinities in order to create a new element. Like how earth and fire create Lava. Kekkei Tota is an advanced version of the elemental creation of a Kekkei Genkai. It is a very special and rare ability that allows the user to mix up to even three different elemental affinities in order to create a completely new element. The one and only example I could think of would be Onoki and Mu and their creation of Dust release, utilizing Wind, Fire and Earth.
-> A "ninja" is a living being(only animals and humans) who has the capability to mold chakra and utilize it to create techniques that are usually not possible by a regular human, like walking on water, using scrolls to summon weapons, spewing out Fireballs, manipulating lightning, etc. A ninja is basically a militaristic soldier, who works for the village he was born in and is loyal to and fights for his own beliefs and morals, i.e. every ninja has a moral code he lives by and tries to rigorously follow it. Ninjas can be assigned missions, for which they receive a payment depending on the rank of the mission. If required, ninjas can eliminate enemy ninjas, thus they can be also called assassins. During war, "shinobis" of the specific village come together and act as one joint group against the enemy forces. A shinobi means "one who endures". A common theme in the manga is the "Will Of Fire" which was heavily followed by the Third Hokage, his son Asuma and most famously, Naruto himself. Ninjas can use Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, etc. depending on their individual skills. In the manga, at the tender age of 6, one can join the ninja academy school and train to become a shinobi. A shinobi is expected to have love for his village and endure hardwork and pain. The concept of ninja in the manga started from the era of the Chakra fruit, back when there were only human beings with no chakra, and after which Kaguya, the legendary Princess ate the Chakra fruit, thus gaining godly powers and being the first human to utilize and manipulate chakra. Hagoromo spread his knowledge, in the form of "Ninshuu", however, humans weaponized it and created "ninjutsu". In short, the first ninja was Kaguya.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
-> "Chakra" is basically life essence or life force which exists in human bodies and animals. Without it, a shinobi can die. It can be considered "blood" and soul for a ninja. It is the molding of physical energies and spiritual energies in the body. Physical energy is the energy given off by the body cells and can be increased with more stamina and practise. Spiritual energy is derived from the consciousness of the mind and can be increased through great concentration and meditation. It is the basis for all almost all the ninja skills like Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, except Taijutsu in some special cases. It flows through the chakra circulatory system, and in it, there are 361 points aka nodes in the body known as tenkutsu. The function of the tenketsu is to regulate and control the flow of chakra. If these weren't present, then chakra would flow through some specific organ, thus there wouldn't be a balance in the chakra flow. Every ninja in the narutoverse possesses a chakra pool. Shinobis with a very high chakra pool like Naruto can perform a lot of higher ranked techniques like Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, etc. without having the fear of getting their chakra depleted at once. Senju Clan members for eg, have very high chakra reserves and a high physical energy aka high "Yang" energy, thus their naturally strong bodies and on the other hand, the Uchiha clan members have a very high spiritual energy, i.e. high "Yin" energy, thus their proficiency in genjutsu and visual prowess. It is possible to have high chakra if you possess very strong willpower. If chakra runs out completely in a shinobi, then he dies as shown when Kakashi died due to his chakra completely running out against Deva Pein. It can be divided into several types like:
Elemental Chakra
Senjutsu chakra
Bijuu Chakra
Elemental chakra is the ability of a shinobi to mold his chakra and make it mimic the properties of one of the basic 5 elements. Water, Earth, Fire, Lightning and Wind chakra come under this criteria. For eg: A Wind Natured Rasengan.
The Rasengan by itself is the highest form of spatial recomposition. Naruto, after a lot of training, learnt how to imbue his "elemental affinity" to the Rasengan, i.e. he added "Wind natured" chakra to his Rasengan, after Asuma taught him that it was to be done by "making the chakra as sharp and thin as possible and imagining splitting it into two, and let the chakra fields sharpen each other into fine pieces", in other words, Naruto added the sharpness and lethality of Wind Release to his Rasengan, making it much more destructive than a regular, non elemental Rasengan. Each shinobi has an elemental affinity. Jounins have usually 2 or more elemental affinities. Elemental chakra is known to be strong to "raw chakra", because it is the combination of chakra with the characteristic property of any 5 basic elements, as I mentioned. One who possess the Rinnegan gain access to all the 5 elemental affinities. Also, Hiruzen Sarutobi has shown the ability to utilize all 5 elements. It isn't actually possible to see chakra per se, but when a high amount of chakra escapes the tenketsu and for eg, is channeled through a weapon, like Asuma's trench knives, then chakra can be actually seen. Imbuing Wind chakra to a kunai for eg, increases it's cutting power and speed. It is also possible to actually sense one's chakra, and proficient users like Tobirama could even make out, from which clan the person sensed was. Last, but not the least, chakra is also known for reflecting one's emotions. An example would be when Kurama described Madara's chakra as "foul and pure evil", and Karin almost described the same for Sasuke.
Basically, every living being possesses chakra in the Narutoverse, even animals, however not all shinobis have the talent of utilizing basic Ninjutsu, or in other words, molding chakra, like Rock Lee and Might Gai who honed their Taijutsu due to lack of talent in Ninjutsu.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
-> The 3 basic ninja skills are Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu.
Ninjutsu means "Ninja Arts" and is something that allows the shinobi to do something that a normal human can't do, like walking on water, manipulating elements, the usage of special as well as bladed weapons, stealth, transformation, etc. The effects of ninjutsu are real. Most of the time, it heavily relies on the usage of handseals as well as chakra. Regular ninjutsu doesn't incorporate the usage of elements for it, like stealth, a basic Rasengan, etc. Elemental Ninjutsu is an advanced form of ninjutsu, which incorporates the usage of basic 5 elements, as well as advanced combinations to create stronger jutsus which have the respective properties of the 5 elements. Elemental ninjutsu is stronger to regular ninjutsu, since regular ninjutsu only uses raw chakra, whereas, elemental ninjutsu uses both Shape Manipulation and Nature Transformation. The perfect Rp example would be that, a Wind natured or a Lightning natured Rasengan would have a greater destructive force than a standard Rasengan, obviously because the elemental Rasengan contains violently rotating chakra as well as the violently rotating chakra is given the property of the respective elements. Rock Lee and Might Gai were shown to not have any talent for Ninjutsu, as mentioned in the top.
Taijutsu means "Body Arts", which usually doesn't require the molding and manipulation of chakra. Albeit, chakra acts as a "fuel" burning the calories when performing physical attacks. Taijutsu simply means hand to hand combat. It doesn't have a set specific definition per se, since there are no pre-made jutsus or such. Taijutsu gives the user the freedom to use "freeform", which means it is only limited to the user's imagination on what he can do, the possibilities are endless. However, it still follows the basic laws of physics. Strong Fist techniques like Rock's Lee's "Leaf Whirlwind" and so on, incorporate the usage of only the physical energy. Additionally, chakra can be used to boost the power of one's attacks, making them a lot stronger. Through extreme training, one can increase their body's raw power and stamina, to last longer in battle, as well as be stronger. The body has 8 limiters called gates which limit the usage of chakra for keeping the body safe from harm. Releasing the gates causes a high amount of chakra to be released at once, and the heart pumps at a higher and faster rate which increases the user's physical power and his speed. However, opening more and more gates can damage the user's body to a very high level for the cost of extreme physical power, the last Gate killing the user after it's usage. Even releasing the Gates require extreme training, which only Gai and Lee could release, respectively 8 gates and 6 gates, although Kakashi could release one gate maximum. Additionally, Ninjutsu can be combined with Taijutsu to make one's blows more powerful and destructive. A canon eg would be Raikage A's Lightning Armour, which is NinTaijutsu. It combines Lightning Release's unique chakra vibrating power to make the synapses in the body react faster, as well as grant the user, a very high speed, arguably to the level of Minato's FTG.
Genjutsu means "Illusionary Arts", which always requires the usage of chakra to create false illusions in the opponent's brain, by taking control of the opponent's cereberal nervous system and manipulating it's chakra flow, affecting their five senses. The effects of genjutsu, unlike ninjutsu aren't real, although they can be used to cause mental trauma on the opponent. However, insects are immune to it. The main drawback of Genjutsu is range, since the user needs to have one kind of a specific link to the opponent's body to feed him illusions. What Genjutsu basically does is that it alters the balanced chakra flow in the opponent's body, causing a disturbance, and through specific triggers, like handsigns, the user can perfectly create illusions in the opponent's brain. The most known way of putting oneself out of genjutsu is to inflict the right amount of pain to suddenly shock one's body and thus reset the original flow of chakra in one's body, or "spike" one's spiritual energy by Genjutsu: Kai technique, to make the foreign chakra leave the user's body. Another logical and widely used way is a full body chakra surge, i.e. techniques which release a large amount of chakra at once from the whole body can be used again to dispel foreign chakra from the body. Canon surges are Nagashi and Hardening Technique. The logic that needs to be followed while releasing is that, one rank higher Releasing technique can be used to release from a genjutsu one rank lower, i.e. an S rank releasing tech can be used to release from an A-Rank genjutsu and so on. The Sharingan is a special eye power widely known for it's special ability of putting the opponent under dreadful genjutsu. The most powerful genjutsu in existence was Shisui's Kotoamatsukami and below them were Izanagi, Izanami and Tsukuyomi. Known users are Kurenai, Itachi, Sasuke, Madara, etc. High enough Genjutsus can cause severe mental trauma and in some cases death, due to shock to the brain alone. Uchiha clan members are known to have a high spiritual energy, that's why they're quite skilled with Genjutsu, since it was hinted by the 2nd Mizukage that, Genjutsu fits under the category of "Yin Release". "Yin", being the spiritual energy and "Yang" being the physical energy.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
-> Regular Ninjutsu doesn't exist per se, although basically in our RP, the art of throwing shurikens, kunais, Silent Homicide, stealth, chakra sensing, chakra suppression, etc. and finally, the Rasengan, can be classed as regular Ninjutsu, since they incorporate just raw chakra and ninja skills.
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
-> Suiton, Raiton, Fuuton, Doton and Katon are the 5 basic elements in Narutoverse. The 5 Great Countries are also named after these 5 primary elements. However, I'd like to think Water, Earth and Fire are the core elements that make up the elemental pallet of Narutoverse. Water is the utmost important element because it is vital for life, without it, we humans cease to exist. Fire symbolizes rebirth(a phoenix turning to ashes and being born again), and hope. It provides light, as well as it used for heating purposes, for cooking and for firewood, which are the basic necessities of a human. Earth is the land we live in. It symbolizes iron will, and strongly holds the weight of the entire living as well as non living population. Without it, every shinobi would be floating in mid-air. Thus, I believe these 3 are the core elements.
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
-> Water Element. Water is the primary source of life and is all around us, present in large quantities, without which we humans would die of thirst. 70% of our body is made up of Water, and it helps in digestion, filtering toxins, etc. the beauty of Water Element is that an existing body of Water can be used to perform another technique, as well as Water's liquid form, which symbolises freedom and free movement. It can exist as solid, gas and in liquid forms like oils and sticky syrups. It doesn't hinder when it comes in contact with Earth, rather it changes it's direction and continues flowing. Primarily, Water Element utilizes pre-exisiting sources of Water to create waterfalls, torrents, vortexes, shields, dragons and basically anything set to the user's imagination, or it can be created in the user's body and spewed out again in the form of streams, torrents, vortexes. Also, it can be materialized out of thin air, by sending Water chakra to the atmosphere, for eg: Tobirama's Suiton: Suishouha utilized this priniciple of materializing Water out of thin air. It is naturally occurring and the most versatile of all the elements.
7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
-> Fire Release. Fire Release is basically one of the 5 core elemental natures. Basically, it consists on gathering chakra, applying nature transformation, aka, "elemental recomposition" on the gathered chakra. Now how is this process done? Simply, a shinobi will gather chakra, and then meditate on the properties of Fire. Usually, imagining a small fire near him. Once he meditates, he slowly "mimics" the nature of an actual Fire, thereby "superheating" his gathered chakra. This process is known as "elemental recomposition", i.e. the shinobi changes the nature of his chakra to that of Fire. Next process is "spatial recomposition" aka shape manipulation. Spatial recomposition dictates the mass, size and form of the chakra, i.e. he can shape his chakra to form pillars, shields, swords, dragons, etc. For eg: A shinobi performs Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.
Here, the shinobi weaves the necessary handsigns required for the technique to manipulate his chakra. He then performs elemental recomposition on his gathered chakra to change the nature of chakra to Fire, after which he inhales a large amount of air, mixing the oxygen in the air with his Fire chakra. He then, channels this newly created chakra to his gullet, wherein he actually converts his Fire natured chakra to form "actual" Fire, to which he gives shape, size and form, by shape manipulation of his chakra. He then, curls his thumb and index fingers on his mouth, forming a ring through which he blows out the newly manipulated stream of Fire. This technique can be performed in two ways. First, the shinobi can sustain it as a stream of Flames, which will travel as a ball of Fire, however, for this, he needs to maintain focus over his chakra, and it only goes upto short range. Secondly, the shinobi can release it as a small ball of Fire, which can travel upto mid-range. This is a projectile variation and the user doesn't need to focus on his chakra for the entirety of the technique.
(Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu ) - Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the necessary hand seals Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger, a ninja inhales air, and utilizing a large amount of fire chakra, spews a large fireball from their mouth after blowing through a ring made by the thumb and index finger of the user, incinerating everything in range. The fireball ignites externally. The fire ball can present itself in 2 forms: it can either be created by a stream of fire and sustained as a gigantic ball of flames in front of the user spanning up to short range or be released as a slightly smaller ball of fire which will travel towards the enemy up to mid range.
Although, I am not sure this was the answer you needed, but nonetheless, I just explained how a Fire Release technique is performed.
Fire Release is a very useful elemental ninjutsu. Most of the Fire techniques are spewed from the mouth. As mentioned above, it can be created by superheating one's chakra. It can be also imbued to bladed weapons like shurikens and katanas which would not only inflict blunt force damage on the opponent, but also inflict severe burns on his skin. In short range, techniques which require no handseals can be used to set an oncoming opponent on fire. In mid-long range, it can be used to conceal the vision of the opponent to the user and vice versa, as well as, it can be used to alter the terrain, as it has the ability to destroy huge landscapes and set them on fire, as well as it is useful against large summons and multiple enemies to turn them into ashes, obviously depending on the rank of the techniques. Plus, it has pure explosive and combustive damage. It has the ability to reduce entire Earthen structures to molten mud, forming lava, depending upon the amount of chakra used for the technique. It is strong against Wind Release, since Wind contains oxygen, which fuels the flames and increases their temperature and overall offensive force, thus it can be said, that Fire is Wind's enemy. However, Fire can be used in conjunction with Wind to create a blazing inferno, which can be quite useful against Water techniques, almost neutralizing them and extinguishing them. Fire Release is weak to Water Release, since Water has the natural ability to quell Fire and cut off the oxygen supply to it. However, mega scaled Fire Release attacks can reduce entire Water bodies to dense steam and such as mentioned above. It is one of the most offensive elements of the basic 5, although it has a mediocre defensive and supplementary capability and is the hardest to tame. The user isn't limited to use it the form of flames, and can also use it to create superheated Ash, like Asuma's Ash Pile Burning and Madara's Haijingakure No Jutsu. Also, it can be manipulated to form a flammable gas, as well as gunpowder. It is commonly associated with the Tiger handsign. Amaterasu, a Mangekyou Sharingan tied jutsu, is the highest level of Fire manipulation, the black flames having extreme temperatures. As shown in the manga by Sasuke, Fire Release can be used to alter weather conditions, provided the flames are hot enough, to create thunder clouds in the sky, which can be followed up with Lightning Release techniques which would utilize natural Lightning and thunder. And, as shown in one of the Naruto movies, it can be combined with Lightning again to create Dark Release, a completely new Kekkai Genkai. Common thought is that Fire Release can't be used with Water Release, which isn't completely right. When properly used, Fire can combine with Water to give off hot steam, and Steam Release is a Kekkai Genkai itself, which is the combination of two opposing elements, Fire and Water.
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
-> In our RP, in general, for eg, an A-Ranked Ninjutsu technique, i.e. Rasengan is used by one shinobi to attack nd the other Shinobi uses a B-Ranked, Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave. The basic notion is that Rasengan would overpower the Water technique, since the Rasengan is a rank higher than the Water technique. But, due to the wave having a giant size and structure, it would consume the Rasengan with it easily, i.e. Rank and Strength aren't always the key when two techniques are used in opposition.(Credits to Izuna's Elemental Interactions Thread for the brilliant idea ).
Another thing I can think of is, when an opponent uses a widespread Fire technique like Great Fire Annihilation, it can't be simply quelled by using a small-medium stream of Water, just because it is of the same rank or higher. The small-medium stream of Water would quell only a small-medium portion of the Hellfire, and create steam, while the Fire technique would continue on, even if it's weaker to Water, albeit in a weaker state than it originally was. Unless, the opponent uses a very widespread Water jutsu, till then the flames aren't quelled completely.
9) What do handseals do?
-> Handseals primarily manipulate chakra and dictate the exact amount of chakra needed for the respective specific technique. Weaving of handseals makes chakra take different "patterns". Some techniques require a large number of handseals, which is related to the complexity of performing that technique and if not weaved properly, in order, or if the user loses focus in between, then the technique is either executed in a weaker state, or it is dispersed midway, depending on the specific technique. A good example is Water Dragon Bullet Technique. It was shown that the technique required a string of 44 handseals to perform, however the Second Hokage, Tobirama could perform it with a single handseal, due to his unparalled Water mastery. It is shown in the manga that with time, a shinobi after mastering the specific technique, requires one-literally no handseals to perform it, an example being Chidori, which required some handseals when Sasuke just learnt it. In our RP, the user can perform any 2 elemental releases of his choice, depending on the elements he has placed as specialties, with one-virtually no handseals/faster handseals. Usually, handseals are performed with both the hands, but Haku, Minato, etc have demonstrated the ability to perform it with only a single hand. The 12 basic handseals are Monkey, Ram, Dog, Horse, Dragon, Boar, Rat, Snake, Ox, Hare, Bird, Tiger.

10) What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
-> Kekkai Genkai roughly translates to "Bloodline Limits". They are abilities passed down through ancestors within specific shinobi clans. For eg: Sharingan is a Kekkai Genkai possessed by the Uchiha clan. It is only unique to this clan. Unless, someone transplants the Sharingan, they can't use it. Another notable example is "Dead Bone Pulse". It is only unique to the Kaguya clan, and a shinobi who isn't from the clan, cannot use it. One more, which is my favorite, is the Wood Release. It was only surprisingly unique to Hashirama, and only was usable by those who acquired a portion of his DNA, albeit on a smaller and weaker scale.
Kekkai Tota is a very rare and complex/advanced form of a Kekkai Genkai. It roughly translates to "Bloodline Selection". It is however, not known that it is genetic or not. A notable example and the only canon Kekkai Tota is Dust Release, which is the combination of three basic elements, namely Wind, Fire and Earth to create Dust Release. It was only shown by Oonoki and Mu in the manga.
1. What is a ninja, a ninja is a person, a specific person who is trained under the academy of their respective nation. A ninja is a person who is trained in the arts of Ninjutsu, meaning the way of the ninja. They live and die for a reason they believe in. Ninjas are not just tools, they are human beings who train and make new comrades, who grow up and master the elements of nature and wisdom. A ninja follows a code, and that code is his or her ninja way.
2. What is chakra? Chakra is a manifestation of one’s self, each of us has our own distinctive chakra signal, giving us a type of identity. Chakra comes in the form of Yin and Yang, literally meaning physical and spiritual. When tapped into, this power allows us to perform amazing feats in reality. Chakra belongs to any sentient being in the narutoverse. From humans to cats and dogs to even a bee, chakra lives in each and every one of us ever since Kaguya, the ancestor of all shinobi ate the Shinju fruit. Chakra in physical manifestation can be altered, controlled and manipulated; this creates ninjutusu, taijutsu and genjutsu, aka a ninja. This can come in the forms of elemental chakra, strong fist or in the base’s terms, narutobase taijutsu and Genjutsu. Spiritual chakra can also be used in such a way, but directly manipulating one’s own chakra in such a way isn’t exactly done. The people who uses Genjutsu, targets the spiritual nature of chakra, by rupturing the natural flow of chakra in the body. This creates a alternation in the chakra path and causes the target to be victims to Genjutsu. Other means of this is shown through chakra sensory which the user enhances his own spiritual chakra, and projects it outward in order to sense the presence of other life forces or chakra signals. Each human has a total of 362 tiny nods on their body called tenketsus, which releases chakra through them. Normally chakra cannot be seen by normal eyes, but with special means like Dojutsu, the user is able to see them. Lastly chakra is controlled by eight points in the body. These points are known as the Eight Inner Gates. They regulate the chakra flow and limits on usage of their chakra but with this, a trained enough person and open these gates and achieve amazing new feats.
3. The basic three ninja skills. First let’s identify them as Ninjustu, Genjutsu and Taijutsu. Let’s start off with Ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is the first and basic art of the ninja, coming down from handseal making, manipulating chakra and molding/shape manipulation. Ninijutsu comes down into twi sub topics, elemental and standard. Elemental Ninjutsu comes into play when apply elemental chakra into ones jutsu while standard ninjutsu usually comes down into weapon play like Shurikens, clones and others of that nature. The next one is Taijutsu. Taijutsu is basically your word for hand to hand combat. In taijutsu, the user utilizes his chakra into his movements, increasing damage output as well as keeping the muscles toned and relaxed when needed to be. This allows the fighter more fluid and more powerful blows to the body. There is also elemental taijutsu, which is usually called nin-taijutsu, this method is using elemental chakra to also enhance the impact of attacks example the third and fourth raikages are known for there use of lightning in their taijusu. It makes them much faster, in the case of the Fourth and more destructive in the case of the Third. Last but not least, Genjutsu. Genjutsu is used by the user manipulating his or her chakra into the brains of their target and using the chakra, alters the five senses (sight, touch , sound, taste and smell). This method of ninjutus creates illusions of the users choosing and how he or she carries it out. It attacks the spiritual nature of chakra then the physical, but this doesn’t restrict the user, as the physical nature of a person can also be affected by Genjutsu. Each genjutsu requires a trigger, this chakra then beings the process of chakra being transmitted into the brain and starting the genjutsu. These triggers are usually used by hand seals, sound and our other means such as physical contact with the target or even jutsu sight into the casters eyes alone(through Sharingan). It also comes in various forms, Visual Genjutsu for example, making it a more complex field compared to ninjutsu.
4. Does regular Ninjutsu exist? In literal terms no it doesn’t, as everything that usitlizes chakra is essentially under the broad header of Ninjutsu its self. In base though, it is called “Regular Ninjutsu” when using jutsus that uses basic allpications like shadow clones or weaponry.
5. To me the core elements that make up the pallet of the human world is water, earth and wind. Each of theses are all natural according elemental that not only helps govern life, but to help sustain it.
6. Lightning, in Naruto Lightning is a very refined element. It can come in the forms or naturally generated source, or it can be generated through the means of chakra. It has more cutting power compared to its rival element; Wind and it also comes in two specific ways, focused and unfocused.
7. Lightning Release; it’s a very powerful and dangerous element in the Naruto verse once in the hands of a master. Lightning is more or less, vibrating chakra, that is usually used in conjunction with weapons to increase the cutting power. Lightning can come from natural occurrences such as lightning clouds or from chakra when the user vibrates the chakra. Lightning can come in two forms; focused and unfocused. Focused lightning is more powerful and more destructive compared to others. This is due to more energy being pulsed into a more solicited form and with this the attack can produce more harm come pared to others. An example with this would be Raikiri, which Is a very good example. Free-lance or Unfocused is less destructive but more targeting in terms of the electrons in the system of the body. It can cause targets to become numb and unable to move due to the static pulsing in the electrons of the nervous system, making movement harder due to the interference. Natural lightning can also be controlled by chakra generated lightning by combining the two through the use of free flowing chakra.
8. This is a very…unique topic to say, but none the less. When it comes to size, matter and weight in the terms of elemental clashing, how can you fight off and massive wave of water by simply making a rasengan? This not only shows that one can easily die due if these factors but can also show a lack of sense in terms of awareness. A technique that is slow moving versus and fast moving technique. The winner is fast right? Not really as the size of the fast moving technique is the size of a walnut but the slow moving technique is the size of the Great Wall of China…yeah we get the point instantly. Not to mention the weight these techniques can carry a heavier burden on a person. Yes elemental weakness and rank takes a huge roll, but one must remember, if he or she plans on taking on a Susanoo with a rasengan head on…you don’t go for it.
9. Hand seals, are the governors of techniques regardless of nature, illusion or secret arts, though this doesn’t apply in taijutsu(only in rare cases). They help mold chakra, by limiting and inputting the correct amount of chakra needed in order to produce a jutsu. Mastery of an area however , when it comes to hanseals , the user can use only a single hand seal or less due to their mastery of that specific field.
10. A kekkai genkai, is a special and powerful unique ability. A kekkai genkai can come in the form of two forms, organic and advance nature. When talking about kekkai genkai, it is usually an ability that is passed down from parent to child depending on the clan’s genetics. This means that even if one is a part of the clan, it solemnly depends on the bloodline of the parent to be sure if one able to show signs of the kekkai genkai of a clan. This is shown with the Sharingan and Byakugan. The sharingan only manifests in some members of the Uchiha clan, were as the Byakugan appears in all members of the Hyuga. Organic kekkai genkai are those that are used from the body itself example, the dojutsu of the Uchiha and Hyuga, or the bones of the Kaguya clan, which can be made into a fighting style of the user. Advance natured kekkai genkai, allows special people to merge two elemental natures together in order to produce a new element. This is shown by Hashirama for example who merges his earth and water natures, in order to form Wood Release. Though is unknown for some kekkai genkai elements, these natures consist of two elements. On a contrary, this can be done with three elements, which then forms what is called a Kekkai Tota, which is exists only as Dust Release in the anime and manga.
A ninja is a practitioner of ninjutsu, and any ninja arts that fall under it, because of their ability to manipulate chakra. They reside in villages and are an integral part of the villages community because they are basically their substitute for a military. This is shown by the missions they carry out; recon, espionage, war etc, and by the fact that they have several different secret branches like the Anbu or Root. Ninja can also be part of clans, an small ninja only community within a village, which have special traits that are passed throughout the clan. Killing is part of being a ninja and many ninja have committed murder but they should not be taken for assassins. Regular ninja do not kill for fun or money but for pride, honour or to protect something. Most ninjas have morals and values which makes them very different from the war machines they seem to be.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
Chakra is possessed by any living thing. Ninja have learnt to release their chakra outside their bodies to be used in any way that they want. It is utilized by bringing forth the users physical energy and spiritual energy, and then combining the two to form chakra. The chakra can then be gathered into the users chakra system and it will then begin to flow throughout their body and it flows through the chakra points as well, being sent to where the user directs it. The user then uses the chakra for the technique which he wants to perform and it allows the user to perform jutsu. Some jutsu, particularly powerful ones, require handseals first before being performed. Depending on bloodline, some people are born with an excess of chakra and others with training can refine their chakra control so that they expend less of it when using techniques and increase the techniques effectiveness. This would conserve the users energy as when a ninja runs out of chakra they feel incredibly fatigued and become unable to perform any more jutsu. Chakra can be further molded using either, shape manipulation or chakra manipulation. As the name suggests, shape manipulation changes the shape of the jutsu and allows jutsu that take the shape of birds or bombs to be performed. Size and mass are also changed by shape manipulation. Chakra manipulation alters the nature of the jutsu and decides whether or not it will be elemental or not, and if yes which element it will be composed of.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
Ninjutsu: Ninjutsu is a very large category because of the multitude of different type of jutsu. It can range from basic elemental jutsu, kekkei tota or bijuu jutsu. Ninjutsu uses chakra so the user is unable from performing ninjutsu without cost as exhaustion would hit as soon as they depleted their chakra reserves. Ninjutsu can be basic chakra manipulation, where you control raw chakra and do not imbue it with any chakra nature, or elemental manipalation, where the jutsu takes the properties of one of the five elements. It would be much easier to just describe it as a jutsu which isn't genjutsu or taijutsu, with a few exceptions, as the other two categories are much smaller than ninjutsu.
Genjutsu: Genjutsu means Illusionary Art. It allows a ninja to create illusions that can only be perceived by the opponent by inserting his own chakra into his opponents system, and manipulating their senses so that they see, smell, hear things that are not there. This would lead to the opponent wasting time trying to understand and reacting to the illusion allowing the user to attack them while they're distracted. Some genjutsus paralyze the target and others are delayed, dormant genjutsus which take effect after a certain condition is met. Genjutsus can also be layered on each other by being performed in succession and these are even harder to counter if used correctly.
Taijutsu: Taijutsu is a style of fighting which revolves around the use of the body to attack and is technically hand to hand combat. It generally uses little to no chakra and most do not require hand seals. The style of taijutsu can differ greatly and it could be a refined martial arts or just a flurry of swings. Raw chakra can also be used with the taijutsu to strengthen the attacks. In our RP taijutsu can be done through freeform or jutsu, and weapons can also be incorporated into the taijutsu. The techniques can be enhanced by ninjutsu so that it becomes nin-taijutsu.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
Regular ninjutsu does not exist in the series and all jutsu is included, except gen and tai, in the broad category of ninjutsu. However in our RP jutsus that utilize raw chakra, like shadow clones, is referred to as regular ninjutsu.
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
The core elemental pallet consists of fire, lightning, water, earth and wind. These 'colours' can be mixed together to create new 'colours', like wood and storm, but certain genes are required for those.
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
Wind is basically large movements of air. With chakra wind can be manipulated and condensed easier than the other two intangible elements; fire and lightning. When channelled right a ninja can tap into the winds cutting attributes and wind is the most penetrative of all the elements, only rivalled by certain lightning. Wind chakra is easily molded and shape manipulation can be used to make the wind take a variety of forms.
7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
Earth is the most physical of all the elements and also the sturdiest. It can be manipulated from either pre-existing earth or made with chakra. It cannot be created anywhere however and is almost always made either connected to the ground or from the users body. The structure of the earth created can also be manipulated and intricate and detailed designs can be created. However earth is most effective when used defensively and that is where it shines best. It is strong against water release because earth is able to absorb water and it is weak against lightning release because of lightnings destructive capabilities. Earth can also come in a variety of forms such as; dirt, pebbles, boulders, mud, swamp etc. The possibilities are boundless.
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
When you're countering another technique you need to take the size into account as a large wave of wind cannot be countered fully by a small dense ball of fire. This is because the fire would just penetrate through one small point of the wind and continue on, leaving the rest of the wind wave to continue towards you. The form also matters as a small shield of earth would obviously be more suited to defend against a spear of fire and not a wall of fire. Mass would only really count for earth and water, as the other three elements are relatively weightless, and if a dense ball of water is fired at a water bubble then the ball of water should technically just power through the bubble as it weighs more than it. The characteristics of the jutsu are also important as there are multiple variants that an element can take; such as mud for earth and oil for water. Depending on whichever one you're opponent changes to you too would have to change your counter accordingly.
9) What do handseals do?
Hand seals are used before a jutsu to control the amount of chakra supplied to techniques. They are generally not used with smaller jutsus or jutsus that do not use complex manipulations. The more precise the chakra manipulation, the more hand seals required. With mastery of an element the user can become proficient enough in molding chakra of a certain nature that they are able to perform the hand seals at a greater speed, and even perform jutsus with a single hand seal.
10) What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
Kekkei genkai are special abilities which are passed down to a ninja via inheriting them genetically. The abilities can vary but mostly the involve two elements being combined to create a new element which has a mixture of properties from the two reactants. They share the elements strengths and weaknesses as well. Kekkei genkai specific to the eyes are known as 'Dojutsu' and these are much rarer than the elemental kekkei genkai. Normally someone without the specific genes cannot use a kekkei genkai but by extracting compatible DNA from someone who can they should also be able to use the kekkei genkai. Kekkei tota are techniques which combine three different elements and the only known one in the series is Dust Release. This ability is much stronger than most kekkei genkai's so its likely that kekkei tota are much more powerful than kekkei genkai as a whole.
Extra information
I've mastered the basic 5 along with taijutsu, genjutsu and kenjutsu. I have learnt Toads, Cloud ken and Storm as well. I've started training in both ninjutsu and gentle fist. I've been RP'ing for a year and a few months and I learnt my first element in March 2013. I think fit your behavioural expectations as well and I've never had a ban nor an infraction. Well I had one infraction but it was a mistake and was reversed within the day o-o. I would like to be a senpai as it would be a fresh and new thing to do on NB and I think I'd be a pretty motivated teacher. I think I would be able to make the students understand the jutsus but can also be active enough to give students the quick replies they want so much. You proctored and graded a battle test of mine recently as well so you will have a feel of my RP and fighting style already. I also want to take the sensei test later on once I've had a good amount of experience as a senpai and when I feel I have a good chance of passing.
1) Explain, in your own words, what is a ninja.
A ninja or "shinobi" is a human being that has been trained in the ninja academy and a human who is capable of molding and utilizing chakra in different ways. Most ninjas live in hidden villages, the 5 great ones being Konoha, Kiri, Iwa, Suna and Kumo. These villages being their homes the ninjas dedicate their lives to protect and serve their village, going on missions, assassinations or protecting the village in case a war breaks out. Their basically a villages doctors, cops and military force. Then there are the rouges, Ninjas who have left their village and roam free in the world, doing basically anything. Most of these rouges are criminals and are usually hunt down by other ninjas from their former village. A ninja is also able to manipulate and use chakra. A ninja can perform various techniques by utilizing their chakra, such as walking on water, walking on trees, performing elemental techniques, taijutsu, genjutso or even specialize in healing.
A ninja has more physicall abilities than a regular human, one of the most noticeable being their ability to jump. A ninja can easily jump unbeliveable heights, one example being Naruto, during his fight with Sasuke, jumping from Hashiramas statue to Madaras, reaching the other side of the valley with a single leap.
Medical ninjas - medical nins are shinobis, specialised in using medical oriented techniques to heal others. Medical nins usually accompany regular ninjas in high ranked missions, to increase the succes rate of the mission and decrease the damage the team will take. A med-nin is also trained to avoid getting injured since then there would be no one else left to heal the squad. Becoming a medical nin is a very difficult task since one would need very precise chakra controll and high intelligence. Medical nins make use of the "mystic palm technique" a technique used in surgery and to heal others. Some ninjas with medical experience, like Chiyo for example, uses their knowledge to create deadly poisons.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
Chakra is something that basically any living thing possess to a certain extent. Ninjas utilize chakra alot, using it when performing techniques, and molding chakra to perform elemental jutsus. Chakra is basically created when mixing spiritual and physical energi (basically being the strenght of the mind and body) and the amount of chakra someone posses varies. For example, Naruto is shown to have an enourmous amount of chakra, whilst Kakashi's chakra storage is alot more limited. Chakra is also a ninjas stamina and life force and if a Shinobi runs out of chakra then he/she basically dies. Chakra can be molded into Elemental chakra, it can be used as medical chakra or for various of other purposes, for example, Tsunade uses chakra enhanced strenght, basically combining chakra with taijutsu and with very precise chakra controll.
There is also a few diffrent types of chakra
sage chakra - sage chakra is created when mixing nature energy(the energy that is around the terrain and atmosphere) with spiritual and physical energy. If a human would do this then he/she would enter "sage mode" and be able to perform senjutsu techniques. Juugo and members of his clan posses a special ability that causes their bodies to always absorb nature energy and utilizing this energy for shape shifting feats.
Biju chakra - Biju chakra is shown to be far stronger than regular humans chakra and they can utilize their chakra to perform various of unique techniques, such as the Bijuu Dama(tailed beast bomb.) Bijuu chakra is coloured red, whilst humans chakra are blue.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
Ninjutsu: The most basic and i belive most used of the 3 ninja skills, Ninjutsu has a very wide variety of uses everything from throwing shurikens to rasengan and bijuudamas, Elemental techniques and such. Ninjutsu can be used in a variety of ways. the most common ones being the ability to walk on water and trees.
By manipulating their chakra a ninja is able to perform elemental techniques. There are 5 basic elements in Narutoverse: Water> Fire> Wind> Lightning> Earth and by using ninjutsu a human is capable of utilising these elements to create a large arsenal of jutsus.
Taijutsu: Perhaps the most simplest of the 3, taijutsu utilises hand to hand combat and can be used with, and without molding chakra. For example, Hashirama, Tsunade and Sakura all three utilizes chakra in their taijutsu, with great chakra controll, they gather a large amount of raw chakra into their fist and releases it all as soon as they strike their target, causing massive damage. On the other side we have Rock Lee who focuses on speed and combos, being one of the fastest people in Konoha or even the entire Narutoverse, in his battles he is shown to constantly attack the oponent with a barrage of fast punches and kicks.
Hachimon tonkou: Lastly we have the eight inner gates. One of the most(if not the most) powerfull "powerups/techniques" in Narutoverse. It basically allows the user to heighten their strength and speed to alot higher levels, and there are 8 inner gates, each one more powerfull than the other. Opening each one is very painfull and opening the final gate will cause the user to die after a while.
Genjutsu or illusionary arts is probably the most complex of these three and requires very precise chakra controll. By inserting his own chakra into the oponent and thus changing the oponents chakra flow, the user can manipulate his/hers five senses and mind, causing the oponent to see/hear/smell/feel & taste things that are not there. Genjutsu is often used as a diversionary tactic or as a setup for a ninjutsu technique, or to mask a physical attack. Genjutsu can be layered on eachother and some genjutsu have the abilities to paralyze the enemy for a while. Breaking out of a genjutsu is easy, the hardest part is to figure out that you are in a genjutsu. There are multiple ways of breaking out of a genjutsu, a general burst of chakra or by inflicting some pain on yourself. Now to figure out that you're in a genjutsu is the tough part. Its important to pay attention to every detail and change of enviroment and such. Feelings and emotions can also help realise that you're trapped in a genjutsu.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
No, since basically all elemental techniques and other jutsus fall under the "ninjutsu" category but in NB RP "regular ninjutsu" do exist, referring to techniques like "shadow clones", "rasengan" shurikens and summoning techniques.
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
To me the core elements are Water and fire because to me they both symbolise Yin/Yang, with water standing for life and nature since its needed for all creatures and plants on earth to survive and thrive whilst fire symbolises destruction and desolation.
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
Lightning/raiton is one of the most deadly elements in the world. electricity is everywhere in a modern house and in this modern world and shinobis can channel lightning through many objects. Its a very fast travelling technique, very deadly, specially if against a water user. electricity can be created anywhere and even without the use of chakra. Static electricity is a prove of that. Lastly the lightning element is one of the sharpest elements as well, with its high frequency the cutting power of a lightning infused kunai is much more sharper than any other elemental weapon, even wind wich is its elemental weakness. 7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
Water/suiton is one of the most, if not the most, versatile and usefull elements in the ninja world and our RP, simply because it can be used for anything and everywhere. It has very powerfull defencive techniques, same for offence and very usefull supplementary ones as well. it can be used with and without a source and and it can, not only change shape, but state as well. Offensive water techniques causes major damage by the sudden force that they exhert, this causing massive internal damage to humans. Water is made out of one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms and has many diffrent forms. In this RP water exists as rain release, Ice release and Steam release, this showcasing how versatile it is, being able to used it as sharp and hard ice, or as steam which is the exact oposite.
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
eveything above matter to a certain extent when two techniques are used in oposition. For example, say the oponent is using a C ranked "great fire ball technique", and you shield against it with an A rank small shield...that wouldnt work now would it? since the shield would only protect a small part of the user, the rest of the body would still be burned by the flames. Its important to take size and form into consideration just as much as rank and strenght. Now Rank and strenght are also important because, well lets say the enemy is, this time using a very small and thin A ranked stream of fire and you protect yourself with a large C-rank body of water that would cover your entire front..that wouldnt work either, since the flames are much more focused and stronger than the C-rank water, the water would simply evaporise and the flames would overpower it, before moving on, now a bit more weak. What i'm trying to explain here is that its not one or the other, when two techniques clash you need to take all the points "size, form, mass, characteristic AND rank & strenght" into consideration because otherwise it wouldnt work. The moves you make need to be logical and not just performed because you only take the rank into consideration. All aspects are equally important.
9) What do handseals do?
Handseals are a way of focusing and manipulating chakra before performing a technique. For example if preparing for a complex and very solid earth technique, you do a string of handseals to focus and mold your chakra into a pattern, so that it would then transform into earth as you release it. Now depending on what technique it is the handseals varie. Now some people think that "the more powerful the technique is, the more handseals it require." that is wrong. It is all about the complexity, form and mass of the technique you perform. Some S rank techniques can be made without handseals and some C rank techniques can be made with 10 or more handseals. Now in the narutoverse, the more you perform a technique, the more you get used to it and after a while, you're able to perform a technique that requires 5 handseals without the need of the seals. Take the Raikiri or chidori for example. When first created, it required 3 handseals to perform but now, as Kakashi has gotten used to and developed a "relation" of sorts with the technique he is shown to perform the technique without any handseals. But in RP it works a little differently. Here you can, when finished 2 elements, chose to have one as "primary" which you can then perform all its techniques with one handseal, and annother one as "secondary" which you perform with faster handseals.
10) What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
A Kekkei Genkai or "bloodline limit" are speciall abilities passed on genetically, within some specific clans. A Kekkei genkai is usually a mixture of two elements, which are combined together and thus became something else, like combining water and wind to create ice, Earth and fire to create lava or water and lightning to create storm. this would normaly be impossible for a regular ninja. Kekkei Genkai's like the Sharingan, Byakugan or Rinnegan are called "Dojutsu". It is possible for a shinobi to have more than one Kekkei Genkai, for example Mei Terumi has two kekkei genkais, boil release and lava release.
kekkei tota: Kekkei tota is basically when one combines three elements together and creates a new, more powerful, ability. Kekkei Totas are extremly rare and the only one shown so far in the Narutoverse is Dust release, which is used my Mu and Ohnoki and is made by combining earth, wind and fire.
Yes. It's the etymological separation of Non-Elemental, Non-Special Ninjutsu from the broader concept of Ninjutsu, which encompasses both Regular Ninjutsu, also know as Raw Ninjutsu or Basic Ninjutsu, and Elemental Ninjutsu, alongside Fuuinjutsu, most Kinjutsu and an assortment of KG, Clan based and Special Techniques.
In the world of Naruto ninja, or shinobi, are individuals who use their abilities in service of their beliefs for their village and nation to achieve their goals. Ninja’s goals usually consist from maintaining peace throughout their nation, taking on missions for money for their village, regular warfare to harm a nation and take their resources, even personal grief or revenge as seen with some of the antagonists of the series such as Obito and Madara. Ninja compose the primary source for their nation’s military and carry out these tasks in accordance to their beliefs or the beliefs of their superiors as seen with organizations such as Root.
Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
Chakra is the basic energy that is created through the combination and molding of one’s own physical and spiritual energy. Physical energy is that which is of the body which is gathered from every cell throughout the body. Spiritual energy is that which is of the mind and spirit and is gathered from there. These two energies are both the basis for Yin and Yang as well which allows one to manipulate their spiritual (Yin) and physical (Yang) energies for far more powerful techniques based on Yin and Yang Release. Techniques such as Susano’o is heavily based on Yin Release as it is a manifestation of one’s spirit and gains in power as the user’s spiritual energy increases, or in this case their doujutsu. This is why many ninja undergo intense physical training to increase their physical energies as it can be more readily increased than one’s spiritual energy. Clans such as the Senju clan are famed for their remarkable physical energy and life force. Chakra even has its own circulation system inside of the body which is remarkably similar to the human body’s nature blood circulatory system. Along this chakra network are what are famously known as the eight inner gates which are 8 ‘storage’ like containers on the chakra network which can be opened up forcefully to bypass one’s physical limits and increase their power substantially. Along that same network are Tenketsu which are simply the location where one releases chakra from their body. Tenketsu are most densely found on the hands and in the mouth as these are the most common places where chakra is released from the body. There are 361 of these tenketsu throughout the entire body. It is through these 361 where chakra is released for ninjutsu and genjutsu. All sentient beings in the NarutoVerse possess chakra as their basic energy. Some possess more chakra than others, of course. Such as the Senju, as previously mentioned, due to their life force or the Akimchi for the very same reason.
Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
The first of the three basic ninja skills is ninjutsu. Ninjutsu, or Ninja Arts, is a broad term encompassing anything a user would be completely incapable of doing without chakra. Ninjutsu, as previously stated, relies on the user’s chakra and their skill in controlling their chakra. The key difference between ninjutsu and genjutsu is that ninjutsu creates very real physical effects while genjutsu simply creates illusions. Ninjutsu is a two-step process; the first being to focus chakra and sacrifice a portion of it for ninjutsu and the second is to mold that chakra. The molding of chakra is based on two separate but equally important principles. The first of these is nature transformation. When spiritual and physical energies combine it simply creates raw chakra which it and of itself cannot be used for all ninjutsu techniques. Some in fact do use raw chakra but others require elemental chakra. It is through this process of nature transformation that we are able to create this elemental chakra such as fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning. For example, nature transformation will occur to create fire chakra by heating up raw chakra. After this is done and the chakra is released from the tenketsu the user applies shape manipulation to it to give the chakra the desired form and shape.
The second of these three basic ninja skills is genjutsu. Genjutsu, or the Illusionary Arts, encompasses primarily spiritual energy and is heavily based on Yin Release. Like ninjutsu, genjutsu requires chakra to be performed. The user of a genjutsu typically will use their chakra to disrupt the flow of chakra in the victim’s brain to place them under an illusion which disrupts their senses. However, there are certain cases where very special genjutsu can actually be placed on the user, such as Izanagi. Genjutsu are primarily used to create false images however they can be used to manipulate any of the other basic senses. There exist certain restrictions on genjutsu, however. One must have some form of connection to the opponent such as a line of sight as they need to be able to use their chakra to enter the opponent’s brain. Additionally, there are other mediums for genjutsu as well such as sound, light, and eye contact. In the case of eye contact the Sharingan is the most prominent for this.
The third of these basic skills is taijutsu. Taijutsu, or body arts, consists of, as the name suggests, hand to hand combat and the likes. Unlike ninjutsu and genjutsu taijutsu usually does not require chakra to perform it. Taijutsu is probably the most versatile of the three basic ninja techniques as it is something that has almost unlimited uses as long as it remains within the realm of logic. Some ninja rely exclusively on taijutsu for combat – most famously is Rock Lee and Gai who use nothing but taijutsu to fight their opponents (although Gai was seen performing the summoning technique). However, there are many other forms of taijutsu that do encompass chakra such as the Raikage’s nintaijutsu lightning armor which enhances his speed and reflexes to make him very lethal in combat or the Kaguya’s Shikotsumyaku which is an advanced nature manipulation of their bones to give them potent taijutsu capabilities. The most famous taijutsu usage would be the Eight Inner Gates which require the user to forcefully open any number of the eight reservoirs in their body.
Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
In the context of the NarutoVerse regular ninjutsu does not exist as anything that requires chakra falls under the broad spectrum of ninjutsu. However, what we consider to be throwing shurikens, kenjutsu, bukijutsu, and what not is classified as what we know as the ninja arts.
Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
The basic five elemental nature transformations compose the basic 'pallet' of the NarutoVerse. These consist of fire, wind, earth, water, and lightning. These are the most basic nature transformations in the NarutoVerse. Most ninja have their own elemental affinity which allows them to more easily manipulate that chakra nature. Some ninja have multiple affinities and are capable of using two or more elements. Then, in the rare cases, there are ninja with advanced nature transformations which combine two or more basic elemental natures simultaneously. These are elements such as Wood, Storm, Scorch, etc.
Choose one element and explain what that element is.
The water element is one of the basic five elemental transformations. The core principle of water release is to manipulate water generated by the user or pre-existing water such as a lake, puddle, or pool, or even water in the atmosphere and surrounding area.
Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
Water release, as previously mentioned, is one of the five basic elemental nature transformations. It revolves around manipulating water sources, water created by the user, and water molecules in the atmosphere. Water chakra is fluid in nature and acts similar to that of water in a river as it ebbs and flows in a very peaceful state. Water Release is perhaps the most versatile and useful element of the basic five. While weak to earth release and strong to fire release it has many advantages that other elements just simply don’t offer. Water’s advantage comes in the sheer amount of versatility it offers. Water release does not simply consist of water in its liquid form. It can be created as a mist, as a flammable oil, an extremely dense and ‘solid’ water, or as a sticky glue. These are all alternative releases of water. Additionally, because of its fluid nature it can come in many shapes and sizes from simple waves to almost anything within reason. Additionally, a lot of people forget about the types of damage water release can vary as well. Many people attribute only blunt force damage to water release from its very basic waves. However water can pierce as well depending on the shape granting to it as well as slice and cut through other techniques. Another very unique trait of water release is its interaction with other elements. The first is a very basic interaction with wind. Water and wind make natural companions. When used in conjunction with one and other wind can actually amplify the blunt force damage that water creates. Using a technique such as Teppoudama (Gunshot) one can follow up with a wide range unfocused blast of wind which will further enhance the blunt damage done by the regular sphere of rotating water. The other special combination that water release carries is its unique interaction with fire. While water is naturally stronger than fire and is capable of overcoming it in terms of raw strength by extinguishing it fire release can actually heat the water as well creating a near boiling water that can hurt opponents. As well as this a natural steam is created which can act as a natural disguise against opponents that lack dojutsu and sensory capabilities.
Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
Size, form, mass, and characteristics of a technique certainly do matter just as much as simple rank and strength. One cannot counter an A-Ranked Dai Bakusui Shoha with a simple A-Rank Rasengan. The explanation behind this is that the wave of water is simply far too large to be countered with something so small. While they are both the same in rank and strength and the elemental interaction matches up so that on paper they would neutralize each other in reality the sheer size and force of the water would overwhelm the user of the Rasengan before it could neutralize the technique. The same could be said for something like Goka Messhitsu where the sheer range and width of the fire would overwhelm something like Suidanha. While both techniques are equal ranked and the fire being naturally overpowered by an S-Rank water technique the fire is of just such larger size that it would easily overcome the water in that it would burn the target as it encompassed them, even though they would be spewing a high ranked water technique into it.
What do handseals do?
Hand seals are the signs used to perform ninjutsu and genjutsu. Hand seals are simply gestures to assist a ninja in molding and focusing their chakra for techniques. Many different techniques require different hand seals and even with greater mastery of a technique one can reduce the needed hand seals to perform it. The example of this in our RP is our primary affinity and our secondary affinity commonly referred to as “mastery” and “specialty”. Our mastery allows us to use our primary affinity with a single hand seal on techniques that require hand seals. This allows us to use something like Water Dragon Bullet, which normally would require a staggering 44 hand seals and use it instead with a single hand seal and with greater strength and mastery. Our secondary affinity allows us to use faster hand seals for techniques. So for a technique that would normally require 3 hand seals these can be performed in the time it takes to weave one hand seal, for example. There are of course techniques that do not require any hand seals at all.
What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
A kekkei genkai, or blood line trait, are passed, as the name suggests, through clans. There are two kinds of kekkei genkai seen thus far. One specifically involves dojutsu, or eye techniques. The three great dojutsu are the Sharingan, Byakugan, and the Rinnegan. The Sharingan, passed down through the Uchiha clan, is noted for its incredible perceptive abilities in analysis. The Byakugan, passed down through the Hyuuga clan, is noted for its incredible ability to see in a very detailed way the chakra network allowing the user to utilize the clan’s taught style Jyuuken, or gentle fist. The third is the Rinnegan which is a far more rare dojutsu which grants the user the power of the Six Paths Techniques.
The second kind of kekkei genkai are those that involve elemental natures allowing the user to combine two elements at the same time. Examples of these are Wood Release which is the combination of Water and Earth, Scorch which is the combination of Wind and Fire, and Storm which is the combination of Water and Lightning. These would normally be impossible to create for other ninja as they need to be able to combine both elements to create these new unique elements. As such, without body modifications such as implanting DNA normal ninja without these kekkei genkai are unable to access them.
There lies another advanced type of nature transformation called a kekkei tota which is the combination of three elemental natures. These are incredibly rare and as such have only been seen by two characters in the manga – Onoki and Muu. In this case the only kekkei tota in the anime and manga is Dust Release which is the combination of Wind, Earth, and Fire. Dust Release creates three dimensional spaces such as cones, cubes, etc and is capable of disintegrating anything inside of them on the molecular level.
A ninja is an individual who will utilize their abilities to its fullest in order to protect their Ninja Way(or their way of life), a code by which they live their lives, their Ninja Way is often linked to their goals, Naruto for example lives by the code that he will Never Give Up which is linked to his goal of becoming Hokage, believing that is what a Hokage should be like and that he will never let his comrades die, another code by which he lives. Each ninja has their own path which they believe is the right 1 in order to achieve their goals, goals which are often set due to past experiences in their lives, leading to ninja/s with various different motives, ranging from becoming rich, getting revenge on individuals who have caused them pain, destroying villages, trying to attain true peace, starting wars etc. Ninja often make up the vast majority of their respective nations military force, often performing missions in order for the village to receive payments which in turn keep the village running smoothly, they also become the main source of protection in time of war, often having to battle on the frontlines so that their village and families are safe. However not all ninja/s are required to fight, every village trains ninja who have a great amount of skill in controlling chakra, allowing them to learn the rare arts of healing/medicine. becoming medical ninja who tend to injuries sustained by those fighting on the frontlines. There are also ninja that aren't capable of fighting as well or aren't capable of performing medical ninjutsu, they however remain in the village and protect the children and women while the more skilled ninja are away however they have they same determination and will to protect their village, just from different dangers that could attack the village.
2) Explain, again in your own words, what is chakra and who, in narutoverse, has it.
Chakra is the energy which is brought forth by the combination of ones physical(represents the body's vitality and energy) and spiritual(represents the mind and soul) energies, representing ones life force of sorts because once you deplete your chakra, you will die(as we saw with Nagato when he used the Rinne Rebirth to revive every1 in Konoha that he had killed, because he had so little chakra when he performed the jutsu, he ran out of chakra and died). Chakra is present within every sentient being(as witnessed when the Infinite Tsukuyomi was activated, it is a jutsu which affects anything that has chakra flowing through it and the cats also got trapped in it, proving that even they have chakra lol) and flows throughout the body, in a circulatory system which is monitored by the 8 Gates present within your body which limit the amount of chakra which flows throughout your body, preventing you from using up your chakra too soon, which would shorten your life span. Every being has 361 chakra points in their body which allows them to expel their chakra from which is then molded and used to perform Ninjutsu, Genjutsu and to an extent, Taijutsu.
3) Explain the basic workings and concept behind the 3 basic Ninja skills.
• Ninjutsu is the result produced when a ninja learns how to focus his chakra and then mold it, which then grants him the ability to perform actions which would be otherwise impossible for normal humans to produce. Focusing your chakra is basically using your will power to force a portion of your chakra to do something while molding your chakra is giving your chakra a set of characteristics that will allow you to produce the end result you require. Molding your chakra is split into 2 basic concepts known as Nature Transformation and Shape Manipulation. These 2 concepts give you an indication of what properties you need to change in your chakra in order to perform a jutsu. Nature Transformation is basically the ability to give your chakra certain characteristics and properties, an example of this is Suiton chakra which is produced when you picture the properties of Water within your mind which is free flowing and calm and then apply it to your chakra, enabling you to produce Water based attacks. The other known concept is Shape Manipulation, it is basically the ability to shape your chakra into any shape or form once it is released from your body, allowing you to perform jutsus of various shapes and sizes.
• Genjutsu is similar to Ninjutsu due to them both requiring chakra and in some cases, hand seals to be performed however those are the only traits they share. Whereas Ninjutsu produces real effects, Genjutsu produces illusionary effects, allowing you to manipulate your opponents senses, granting you the ability to feed them false information through illusions by inserting your chakra into their brain, disrupting their chakra flow. There are however some Genjutsu which are so strong(like the Kurama clan) that they fool the opponent into thinking that the illusion is real, causing the brain to believe it is real which in turn causes so much mental damage that you can potentially kill your opponent. There are several types of ways to cast Genjutsu, Sound and the Sharingan being 2 of them. Sound based Genjutsu relies on the use high frequency sound waves to cast Genjutsu while the Sharingan is able to cast Genjutsu as long as you have direct eye contact with your opponent. There are however a few requirements you need to meet before casting Genjutsu, due to you using chakra to manipulate your opponents senses, you need to be able to see your opponent or be within close range in order to release your chakra into their brain in order for you to manipulate their senses.
• Taijutsu is basically hand to hand combat, unlike Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, Taijutsu doesn't require chakra, instead relying on the users strength and stamina which they have acquired during intense training. Although chakra may be used to enhance the power of 1s attack as seen with Tsunade, Sakura and Hashirama. Due to Taijutsu relying on the strength and stamina of the user, Taijutsu users are known to get tired a lot slower than Ninjutsu and Genjutsu users however this is only for non-chakra enhanced Taijutsu. Gai and Lee are known for their mastery of Taijutsu and thus they possess the ability to open the EIG, which significantly boosts their strength and speed, allowing them to move extremely fast while they are also able to perform extremely powerful Taijutsu moves(as seen when Gai hit the Gedo Mazo which caused it to fall). There are also other variations of Taijutsu, like the Kaguya clans Dead Bone Pulse, the Akimichi clans chakra enhanced Taijutsu which they co-operate with Ninjutsu to expand their body parts to increase the damage of their hits, the Hyuga clans Jyuken and even the 3rd and 4th Raikage's who coat their body with lightning to increase their speed and power which enhances their Taijutsu prowess.
4) Does something called "Regular Ninjutsu" exist?
In our RP? Yes, we call Ninjutsu that uses Raw Chakra regular Ninjutsu, techniques like the Shadow Clone, Transformation Jutsu, Summoning Jutsu, etc
In the manga/anime?
5) Which core elements make up the elemental pallet of narutoverse?
The 5 basic elemental nature transformations, Suiton, Doton, Katon, Raiton and Fuuton. This is further highlighted by the naming of the 5 great countries which are named after these elements and without these elements, all elemental Kekkei Genkai would cease to exist due to them being a combination of these elements.
6) Choose one element and explain what that element is.
• Suiton is 1 of the most versatile of the basic 5 elemental nature transformations, not only being able to change shape but also its form, it also allows the user to manipulate pre-existing water sources in order to perform jutsus or expel it from their mouth and if the user is skilled enough(like Tobirama), it allows him to perform jutsus by using the water molecules present in the atmosphere.
7) Choose one elemental release and explain what it consists on, what it can do, what its useful for, etc.
• Suiton being 1 of the 5 basic elemental nature transformation is based on the usage of water which is pre-existing, expelled or present in the atmosphere to perform jutsus. It is known as a calm element, mirroring the properties of water, free flowing and following the path external forces and nature dictate for it, just flowing around an object blocking its path instead of going through it. It is 1 of the most versatile elements, having several different shapes and forms, it is able to take the form of oil, mist and syrups. There are also several different types of jutsus that you are able to create using water such streams, projectiles etc, a lot of Suiton jutsus also leave behind a water source which can be used for jutsus that require a water source. Suiton is also considered a versatile element due to its interactions with the other elements, for example, even though it is strong to Fire, when it clashes with Fire jutsus of a strong enough rank, it will create a steam or mist, weak to Earth but still able to be used to your advantage, when it clashes with a Earth jutsus of the same rank or lower, it turns the earth into mud, wind can be used to speed up Suiton jutsus and increase its destructive power while its relationship with Lightning is useful as well, due to it being a conductor of electricity, once it come in contact with a strong enough Lightning jutsu, it gains the properties of Lightning while still maintaining its properties which will paralyze/shock your opponent if it comes in contact with him.
8) Explain in your own words how size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition.
Often overlooked in our RP, this is as important a subject as any, due to RPers mainly focusing on ranks we tend to forget that a large scale jutsu will cancel out a small scale jutsu even if the rank favors the small scale jutsu. For example, if I were to use the C ranked jutsu (Suiton: Mizuame Nababara) - Water Style: Starch Syrup Capture Field by expelling it to counter my opponents C ranked jutsu (Doton: Dorosandan) – Earth Release: Mudshot, naturally you would assume that because Water is weak to Earth and they are of the same rank that the Doton jutsu would overpower the Suiton jutsu, however this is not the case, due to the large scale of the Suiton jutsu, it is capable of covering the entire battlefield whereas the Doton jutsu is more a projectile type jutsu which would be simple drowned out due to the sheer size of the Suiton jutsu.
9) What do handseals do?
Hand seals are basically a way of helping the ninja perform complex jutsus by allowing him concentrate and mold his chakra more easily.
10) What is a Kekkei Genkai and a Kekkei Tota?
• Kekkei Genkai's are special abilities that are passed down genetically within clans, which allow the user to wield abilities that are exclusive to their clan/bloodline. We know of various types a Kekkei Genkai, the 1st is known as dojutsu, consisting of the 3 great dojutsu, the Sharingan, Byakugan and Rinnegan, each granting the user unique abilities. The Sharingan which is passed down by the Uchiha clan, allows the user to see chakra flow, predict movements, copy non-Kekkei Genkai jutsu and the ability to see if some1 is under a Genjutsu. The Byakugan which passed down within the Hyuga clan, allows the user to see almost 360 degrees around him except for 1 blind spot which is located on their neck and the ability to see at incredible distances. The Rinnegan which isn't passed down and is the rarest of the 3 dojutsu, allows the user to use the power of the 7 Paths, granting him the power to control Life and Death. This however is only 1 type of, another is the ability to mold 2 chakra natures at once in order to create a completely new element, an example of this is Senju Hashirama, who is able to mold his Water and Earth Chakra to create Wood, another example is Haku who combines his Water and Wind Chakra to create Ice. There are also rare cases where a ninja is able to possess 2 Kekkei Genkai, as we have seen with Mei Terumi, who possesses the Kekkei Genkai known as Boil Release which is a combination of Water and Fire and the Kekkei Genkai known as Lava Release which consists of Fire and Earth.
• Kekkei Tota is an advanced type of Kekkei Genkai, it consists of the use of 3 elements in order to create a new element, so far the only known Kekkei Tota is Dust Release, which is used by Onoki and Mu and consists of Earth, Wind and Fire(lol).
After reading all the applications, I've decided to choose Drackos as my new senpai. Congratulations and thank you to all the others who applied, I was surprised this many applied anyway.
