don't worry. I use a mac, I can help you.
you got 3 options.
1. Parallels Desktop.
2. Boot Camp.
3. CrossOver Games/WineSkin.(use CrossOver Games instead, you can get em for free if you search hard enough)
I'll talk about CrossOver first since its the easiest.
1.Download CrossOver games.
it's pretty much self explanatory from this point onwards.
once you've got your installer file (.exe)
Some games isn't compatible with CO(crossover games) though so it depends on your game but most game is CO compatible now a days anyway aside from the ones that has gameguard or other game security.
When you install a .exe file. It'll create a new bottle. if you want to save disk space, use the previous bottle that you have.
a "bottle" is basically an area where a .exe file can run. it'll have a system32, local disk C and temp files.
basically, you'll have a small portion of windows in your mac.
It can be a bit slow though and there are some restrictions to it.
Your other option is parallels desktop.
What you'll need... (this is the most expensive choice, I won't really recommend it unless you really need to run both mac and pc program at the same time.)
A legit copy of windows 8/7
A legit copy of Parallels Desktop.
Don't pay for the parallels Desktop just yet, just use its trial to see if you'd be happy with the outcome or not.
Windows 8 got trial too so you should use that up first.
download parallels desktop and as soon as you've got it installed you'll see an option somewhere with "download windows 8 for free".
use that, it's about 3 gigabyte + for the entire download.
it'll install automatically right after that. you can run it on coherent mode which would hide windows 8 but will let you use the windows program anyway.
or you can just switch desktops easily.
now for boot camp...
if you're using a mac that doesnt have a cd rom drive.(macbook pro mid 2012, mac mini, macbook air or one with a defective drive)
you'll need...
A MacSuper Drive(80 dollars) or...
A USB stick with over 5gigabyte capacity or...
External HardDrive with MacOS partition.
you'll also need a legitimate windows 8 copy.
i'd suggest...
Using an external hard drive(cause its really useful anyway) and windows 8 digital copy.
rather than...
windows 8(disc) and superdrive(superdrives can only play DVD/CD rom not blu-ray so its kinda pointless getting it, besides every film can be downloaded off the internet now a days anyway).
so if you're using an external hard drive or a thumb drive.
just get the copy of the windows 8 into the thumb drive(USB drive) or external hard drive.
Go to Finder/applications/utilities/boot camp.
from then on, everything is common sense and bootcamp assistant will guide you anyway.
just make sure you back everything up incase something goes wrong.
gl!
ask any more questions if you need to.
