[Discussion] Luffy's Speed?

I've seen people post on here that Luffy has a speed of mach 13.

I was wondering where do they get that number from and is that his running speed or his punching speed?

Because if it's his punching speed than that is slower than it should be, given all of the fight with Enel was in the manga.
In the anime version Luffy throws a punch that Enel says is too fast and then he doesn't dodge it and gets punched in the face.

If that part is canon(idk I only watched the anime so far to see if I should read it which I'm starting) Than Luffy punched faster than the speed of lightning which ='s around 100,000,000 m / s Where mach 13 = 4 423.77 m / s. Significantly slower I was wondering if someone could help clear this up for me.

It isn't speed really, cuz it more jumping or hopping than running or dashing.

If he Punched Enel who moves at the speed of lightning and said Luffy's punch was too fast to dodge than he's kinda close.

Do you mean THE Flash, Barry Allen, than agreed.

luffy + gear second = fast as light because he dodged the paciftas light lasers which kizaru's fruit is the light fruit so he is very fast.

There is only one way to say Luffy's speed. Luffy at base was able to dogde a bullet form that celetrial dragon so i can say he's faster than a bullet which generally moves at 220 m/s

Lasers aren't as fast as light because they are dense beams.
Kizaru, never attacked them using light speeds. He attacked, Apoo, Drake and Hawkins with light speed though. They didn't even notice him at their face when he kicked them. They were most likely like "WTF just happened?" even though they knew they were fighting, Kizaru.

But yeah, Luffy can't move at light speeds. You have to be a complete idiot if you think he can. If anything he can move at near close lightening speeds. Roger, is the only person said to have been able to move at lightening speeds other than, Eneru.

Luffy, can move mostly near jet and lightening speeds only. His punches have always been really fast. Even when he was a kid his punches were like pistols. His movement speed are at jet/lightening speeds. He's able to punch at jet speeds, so that means his movements like running are normally around lightening speeds. Lightening isn't as dense as beams so that means they move faster. The denser a light the slower it moves.

And Luffy threw a punch at Eneru, which Eneru said, was too fast for him to dodge. Thus his punching speed, or the speed he can extend and retract his arms, is greater than/= to the speed of lightning.

He may not be able to run as fast as lightning or dodge lightning speed attacks, but he can punch as fast if not faster than lightning otherwise Eneru would have/could have dodged his punch. Also creating fire underwater which has increased friction should be a sign of just how fast his punching speed is.

When people say "light speed", I hope you're all just exaggerating since not even Kizaru moves at the speed of light.

Anyway, IMO, Luffy moves at the speed less than the speed of sound.
