nah i dont think smoker is an agent for dragon or he wouldnt go so hard on luffy

and yeah he was but not by much and he was equally as powerful while smoker isnt at luffys level anymore and coby was trained by the man who fought roger countless times and roger himself said that they almost killed eachother in most of those fights so it just sounds like coby would be a better rival

He stopped when Dragon put his hand on him. Smoker is not the kind of a man that will stop even if someone stronger than him commands him to...

The man that has been hunting him since Lougetown arc... The man that is obsessed in capturing Luffy... The man who still is on the same general level as Luffy.. It is Smoker.

He was stopped because Dragon forced him to...it's not like Smoker just let Luffy go because Dragon asked him to, Dragon used his power to blow Smoker away from Luffy that's why he was so angry Dragon intervened.

Why did Garp take Ace? Because he was friends with Roger? NO. They were enemies who constantly fought across the Grandline and through it gained a mutual respect and understanding of each other.

While he's adopted his fighting style, that's where the Coby = Garp parallel ends. It's Smoker that's always chasing and has numerous times almost caught Luffy, and whom is slowly building a bond with him.

Smoker is his rival for now. Coby is his destined rival though. Coby's gonna surpass Smoker and become the strongest marine.
