Luffy learning Gear Four occurred during the year and a half that Rayleigh was there. When Luffy spent the six months alone with the animals, he already had Gear Four. The year and a half was spent working on Haki, which is what G4 works based on, so he would only have 6 months to do something that wasn't Haki related by himself.

Yeah bro I was waiting for you to say that because I was just about to post the same thing Kyuubi Sagemode just posted now. That's why I said Luffy literally had a year in between to learn whatever he wanted because he already knew King Kong Gun when Rayleigh was there.

I purposely ignored Riker because of all his idiotic claims he makes up he thinks that they are facts. This is the same guy that said that Luffy can't walk or even fight after using Gear 4 and he said that Doflamingo was half dead like old marineford Whitebeard before he fought Gear 4 luffy. I do agree with that assessment.
I think looking at it from your point of view may be accurate.
This may be a battle to teach luffy how to battle with a calm mind, refine his Haki, and learn better mastery of his devil fruit.

I do agree that luffy learned mastery of Basic Haki and Gear 4th in the year of being on the island with Rayleigh. When I stated earlier that Luffy learn new gear 4 techniques and the other forms that go with it (such as Tank Man), I was refering to the last 6 months luffy was on the Island without Rayleigh.

Yeah he learned G4 during that time but after he learned all he must of picked something else right?

Yea that is possible that gift would be that she changes the title of the manga from One Piece to Fairy Tail. Would be a nice gift because Oda will have so much more free time, he doesn't need to plan ahead anymore..

Oda already did something like that in Thriller Bark and that(Blue monster form) can be the key to match Kaido's overwhelming strength.

That's not the same, Moriah was relying on a fake power source and Luffy used that against him to beat him. He used his own tricks against him. If Luffy would beat arguably the strongest character in the series with an out of nowhere temporally power-up that would be exactly what I called it "Fairy Tail" writing.

There should be no way that Luffy can beat Kaidou after his performance against Dogtooth now.
