Blazing sun beat down on the suburbs of NB Ville with all signs pointing to a peaceful and enjoyable day in what was widely considered the nicest place in the city, but Clark knew that wasn't the case. The suburbs had its fair share of crime and this crime was perturbing to him. The victim a man called George Reeves was found dead by police under what some considered to be very suspicious circumstances, Clark had been given the police reports and read them through finding many inaccuracies and holes in the story.

Police Report
Reeves died of a gunshot wound to the head in the upstairs bedroom of his home in NBville between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. on June 30, 2017, according to the Los Angeles Police Department report. The police arrived within the hour. Present in the house at the time of the incident were Leonore Lemmon (Reeves' fiancée), William Bliss, writer Robert Condon, and Carol Van Ronkel, who lived a few blocks away with her husband, screenwriter Rip Van Ronkel. According to these witnesses, Lemmon and Reeves had been dining and drinking earlier in the evening in the company of writer Condon, who was ghostwriting an autobiography of prizefighter Archie Moore. Reeves and Lemmon had an argument at the restaurant in front of Condon, and the three of them returned home. However, Lemmon stated in interviews with Reeves' biographer Jim Beaver that she and Reeves had not accompanied friends to the restaurant but rather to wrestling matches. Contemporaneous news items indicate that Reeves' friend Gene LeBell was wrestling that night—yet LeBell's own recollections are that he did not see Reeves after a workout session earlier in the day.

Sometime near midnight, after Reeves had gone to bed, an impromptu party began when Bliss and Carol Van Ronkel arrived at the Reeves home. Reeves angrily came downstairs and complained about the noise. After blowing off steam, he stayed with the guests for a while, had a drink, and then retired upstairs again in a bad mood. The guests later heard a single gunshot from upstairs. Bliss ran upstairs into Reeves' bedroom and found him lying across the bed dead, his naked body facing upward and his feet on the floor. It is believed that this corroborated Reeves' sitting position on the edge of the bed when he allegedly shot himself, after which his body fell back on the bed and the .30 caliber (7.65×21mm) Luger pistol fell between his feet. Statements made by the witnesses to the police and to the press essentially agree. Neither Leonore Lemmon nor other guests who were at the scene made any apology for their delay in calling the police after hearing the fatal gunshot that killed Reeves; the shock of the death, the lateness of the hour, and their state of intoxication were given as reasons for the delay. Police said that all of the witnesses present were extremely inebriated and that coherent stories were very difficult to obtain from them.

A number of questionable physical findings were reported by investigators and others: No fingerprints were recovered from the gun. There were no muzzle discharge burns typically associated with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No gunpowder residue was found on Reeves' hands. The bullet that killed Reeves was recovered from the bedroom ceiling, and the spent shell casing was found under his body. Two additional bullets were discovered embedded in the bedroom floor. All three bullets had been fired from the weapon found at Reeves' feet, though all witnesses agreed they heard only one gunshot, and there was no sign of forced entry or other physical evidence that a second person was in the room.

While the police were happy to treat this as a suicide with the lack of evidence but having been ready to leave the crime scene and file their reports a tremendous storm rolled in almost out of nowhere despite the previously good weather conditions. Clark heard them radio in and attempt to report that something was going wrong, thanks to his super hearing. The storm was enormous and clark didn't believe for a second it was naturally made. Launching himself through the air at high speeds he flew through the sky the roar of the storm being drowned out thanks to the slipstream his impressive speed granted him.

The wood on the large front door splintered beneath the force of the speeding kryptonian, who had used his x ray vision prior to this to insure he wouldn't be hitting anyone in the home, Bursting through in a hail of wooden lumps superman stopped hovering in the air and looking around, the startled officers lowered their guns with some relief to see the hero mixed with clear fear on their faces.

Several moments of explanation later had superman brought up to speed on the actions that had taken place, it seemed that two of the officers had discovered a trail of blood leading to the wine cellar and had then mysteriously vanished moments before the huge storm rolled in out of nowhere. Clark resolved to check the cellar telling the police and forensics teams to gather everyone left inside the manor house and wait upstairs while he investigated the cellar. His boots rang as they made impact with the cobblestone floor, this cellar was old perhaps older than the home itself by several hundred years even. The cold damp air assaulted supermans nose with the stench of old musty air.

His eyes however were focused on the task at hand, his x ray vision pierced the walls revealing a hidden room behind a large wine cask, it was so cliche Clark almost laughed. But the situation was serious and dire, the people above and perhaps even all of nbville were relying on him to stop whatever was happening. His eye lasers flashed forth in a haze of red light, a burning noise emanated through the cellar as the lasers cut a hole in the secret entrance allowing superman to step through. What he found shocked him the room was covered in strange glowing purple glyphs and a large book seemingly made from human flesh sat in the middle of the room atop a pedestal. Clark was by no means an expert in magic bit even a fool would suspect some dark magic was happening. Attempting to step forward and reach the book he was met with a shocking sight. A swirl of black mist appeared and stepping through clad in dark torn up robes came the skeletal figure of George Reeves. The surprise had Clark off guard as a purple blast of light shot forwards smashing the man of steel in the chest with tremendous force sending him careening in to the wall. Superman was no push over however and shot back out of the wall like a bullet striking the lich creature in the chest with so much force his supernatural skeleton groaned under the pressure with several of its ribs cracking. The ghostly voice of George Reeves laughed a hollow sinister laugh as it let loose another blast of light, not aimed at Clark this time but aimed at a large support beam. The face of the kryptonian sunk. He was aiming to collapse the house killing everyone upstairs.

There was no time to waste as superman fired himself upwards at huge speed as he heard George laugh that hollow laugh taking the opportunity to grab the foul book and vanish in smoke. The moment the book left the altar the storm began to recede. With Clark lifting the foundation of the whole room that everyone was inside. Saving them but at the cost of the villain escaping. While the people were glad to be saved, superman couldn't help but feel this was far from over.

Mission Checked - Fail

While I see the direct reference to the George Reeves and like how well it can tie into this specific mission, the overall mission was not completed. The goal was not only to understand who murdered the guests, but to bring said person to justice. You very clearly indicate the villain getting away. Also, by making it seem like George Reeves himself was the "killer", it would sorta question if he even murdered anyone. That aside, the goal of bringing the villain to justice was not met.

The other big thing that needs to be noted is the use of your powers. While your Core Ability does state what you CAN do, such as flight, X-Ray Vision, Super Hearing, etc. It does not actually give you permission to use those freeform. You will need to create techniques for those things to use them even in Missions.

If I may offer a suggestion, perhaps focus simply on Clark Kent solving the crime alone, without the use of his powers. Looking forward to reading your other stuff though, I'm liking it.
