Appearance



In the Spirit World, Baam was a young boy with dark brown hair and amber/gold eyes. He wears a brown long sleeved shirt, a red vest and beige pants. At the age of 9, he received a spiritual youth garb and a headband from a close friend of his. On Earth, Viole (Baam's alias) is taller and he has grown out his hair, with the bangs covering part of his face, more specifically his eyes. One of his new outfits consists of a black robe, beige pants and clothes with the mark of FUG (A now disbanded criminal organization). Another new suit, however, is a more formal dress, wearing a purple and black-striped shirt and black pants. After Baam received the Thorn it hovered above his right shoulder in a compressed form. He later learns how to make the Thorn disappear or turn invisible. After the events of FUG disbanding, Baam cut his hair back to length it was in the Spirit World.


Personality



Baam is a highly empathetic and caring young man, understanding little of life, having had virtually no contact with people before meeting Rachel and later entering the Tower. He hates loneliness and other people's loneliness, a perspective which is heavily implied throughout his life. He's very naive and knows little about the world around him. Under his new alias, Viole, he is far more violent. He now has friends to protect and will not hesitate to fight if it means protecting them. He now completely understands that in order to progress, he must be pre-emptive and prepared to engage in combat and eradicate all opposition. He's become more introverted, rarely ever speaking or displaying any signs of emotion. He's also quite cold and calculating, interacting with others only out of necessity and will take advantage of a situation to defeat his opponents.

It's possible that Viole became cold and distant in order to protect himself from getting hurt again and distances himself from others, opting to take tests as a solo even though the tests are intended for groups. This is to avoid involving others in his highly dangerous quest.

He joined FUG at some point after leaving the Spirit World, seemingly sharing the same goal as FUG. Later, it is revealed he was in fact blackmailed into becoming a Slayer for FUG as the latter had threatened to kill his friends if he refused or acted weak.

He still likely retains high empathy for others but has closed himself off. However, that doesn't mean his heart has changed. He often feels very guilty or even depressed when eliminating others. However, he also seems to recognize that in the current system, "there is no way that everyone can be happy. It's only possible someone will be happy". It should be noted that he still retains his childish side, despite his cold demeanor, as shown by his amazement of the sea.

Origin Type: Magic
Origin Story: Shinsoo (신수 (神水), shinsu, literally "divine water") is a supernatural substance that flows through the Spirit World. Each section of the world has areas of varying amounts of Shinsoo density. In lower concentrations, its density makes the substance act like a gas, but in higher concentrations, it behaves like a liquid. At different times, Shinsoo can take on the properties of water, fire, air or light etc. Shinsoo has an endless list of variations. As it can be so many different things, nothing can be singled out to define Shinsoo or to assign it with a special property. Shinsoo is the "basis of all energy". Shinsoo is essential for living in the Spirit World, as it allows for breathing and provides moisture for the inhabitants. It should be noted that Shinsoo has almost no limits, and anything can be obtained through the use of Shinsoo.


History



The 25th Baam was born and raised in the Spirit World, an irregular, as he was a Human and not a Spirit. It was unknown as to why made him and how he came to be, but it appeared as though he was born from Shinsoo itself. As Baam was raised up, he learned about the different ways to use Shinsoo, and came to understand the nature of the energy that made up the Spiritual World.

Upon turning 19, Baam was released into the real world without being able to say goodbye. Without his knowledge, the Shinsoo that made up the spirit world had been absorbed within him, and he was rejected as a result of that event. Now, filled with Shinsoo, Baam was capable of producing and manipulating the shinshoo within him, creating more Shinsoo to use as he grew over the years in both age and training.

Power/Ability: Shinsoo Manipulation

Description of Powers: Shinsoo, being the essence of the Spirit World and a powerful tool for fighting, has many different applications that are channeled in many different ways. Being an expert user and generator of Shinsoo, Baam has access to a wide range of abilities that branch directly from Shinsoo manipulation.

Shinsoo Manipulation - Baam can create, shape and manipulate his or others spiritual power in the form of Shinsoo, which is generated by every sentient being that has a soul and makes up the Spirit World. They can convert it into various forms of energy, manifest it into solid form, or merge into existing objects. Because Shinsoo has many applications, it is possible for Shinsoo to be tied with elemental powers as well, however, the case is not the same for Baam.

  • Baang - Baang is the first property of Shinsoo generation. Baang is the basic unit by which Shinsoo is measured and controlled. A single Baang is the base of Shinsoo that most in the spirit world can manipulate. It is possible, however, for one to manipulate multiple Baangs at once and still stay in control of each individual Baang. As Baam's rank progresses, the maximum amount of Baangs he can control at once increases. Currently, Baam can control 3 Baangs at Rank 4.

  • Myun - Myun is the second property of Shinsoo generation. Myun refers to the surface area of the bang, regardless of it's height, which determines the spread of Shinsoo and it's base for density. A single Myun is the equivalent of 3.306 square meters of Shinsoo. Measuring a Baang based on Myun is not a measurement of height, as the height of a bang can fluctuate based on the situation. Myun generally represents the range at which Shinsoo can be controlled, as a high Myun means that one can manipulate Shinsoo across an entire battlefield. Baam's Myun is generally high, however, the application of his Myun is limited on a technique-by-technique basis.

  • Soo - Soo is the final property of Shinsoo generation. Soo refers to the concentration of Shinsoo within a Baang. The higher the concentration of Shinsoo in an area on it's own, the faster Soo can be increased in a given area. Soo cannot be directly measured unless one is capable of sensing spiritual presence and energy, however, Baam's Soo is regarded to be extremely strong, his Baang's dense enough to block even the most powerful techniques if he concentrates enough Shinsoo into his attacks.
Shinsoo Sensory - Baam can sense people and objects so long as they harbor a soul or some sort of spiritual presence, which manifests as either a colored glow, aura, energy, flame, etc. This allows Baam to distinguish their enemies from their allies, discern their general location, and see them through inanimate objects at indefinite distances. It also allows Baam to tell exactly who is among a crowd of people, sense if someone is good or evil, and even differentiate species.

Shinsoo Healing - Baam is capable of using the power of Shinsoo to heal damage dealt to his body. This Shinsoo control comes in the form of a red, lobster-like exoskeleton that appears on his back whenever he takes damage. The amount of healing that the lobster is capable of is unknown, however, severe organ damage of any kind seems to be the limit of the healing.

Shinsoo Replication - Baam is capable of utilizing Shinsoo in order to replicate the movements and attack patterns of others. Passively, and within his field of vision and Shinsoo control, Baam learns the nature of attacks and how to replicate them whenever they are preformed and even if he is struck by them. Because of this, Baam has become a practitioner of Martial Arts and is capable of mixing various styles together in order to form new combinations of Martial Arts.

Shinsoo Flow Control - Baam is capable of manipulating the flow of Shinsoo that all beings emit. So long as a being has a soul, Baam is capable of manipulating their Shinsoo flow in order to redirect and even stop them in their place. This, however, is an extremely hard technique to master, as controlling another person's Shinsoo flow takes a great amount of willpower.​

Magic Tool Manipulation - At some point in his time at FUG, the criminal organization acquired a special magic tool known as The Thorn. It was thought to be inactive, however, with lots of hard work and funding, they were capable of activating and utilizing it's power. Baam is now in ownership of the thorn, though not in the sense of it being a weapon. The Thorn was melted down and fused with Baam's Shinsoo, and Baam is capable of harnessing it's power in order to increase his control of Shinsoo and the power emitted from his own body. The Thorn, however, is not in complete sync with Baam, thus it can only be utilized in a limited fashion.​

Description: Utilizing the power of Shinsoo, Baam generates a medium-sized, blue disk of Shinsoo under his feet and rides on the disk in order to get to a new destination. The main usage is for single transportation; Baam moves quickly from point A to point B, generally in a straight path. The technique, however, has been seen to be able to turn on sharp corners. Also, due to the great speed and momentum the technique produces, it can sometimes cause destruction along its pathway and can also be used to break through barriers.

Description: The Thorn is a powerful tool of magical origin that was infused into Baam during his time in FUG. The Thorn is a bright-red needle that was originally the size of a skyscraper, however, it has since been reduced to the size of a pocket knife when shown hovering over Baam. The Thorn's primary purpose, after being infused into Baam's Shinsoo, is to enhance the power of Baam's Shinsoo techniques and the power of his own body. Upon activating this technique, the Thorn becomes visible and hovers over Baam's shoulder. No matter what happens to the Thorn, it will always return over Baam's shoulder and will stay there until the thorn is deactivated.

Shinsoo Enhancement - Being a powerful tool for Shinsoo usage, the Thorn increases Baam's control and range of Shinsoo. The Thorn doubles the maximum range of Shinsoo control that Baam has from 100 meters to 200 meters (60 Myun) and increases the attack speed and power of all Shinsoo techniques. As a result, Baam gains +10 Energy as long as the Thorn is active.

Body Enhancement - Because his control of Shinsoo is more powerful, Baam's body also becomes a much more powerful version of it's original form. Now, empowered by Shinsoo completely, Baam gains an additional +5 Speed, +5 Intelligence, and +5 Durability as long as the Thorn is active.​

Though the Thorn is a powerful tool, it should be noted that the Thorn doesn't last forever, and that extensive usage of the Thorn can result in consequences that even Baam himself cannot overcome without a period of rest.

Note: The Thorn can only be utilized safely for a total of 5 turns. The user can periodically activate the Thorn in order to preserve and release energy at the right time, however, if the Thorn is activated within a turn, it will count towards the 5 turn usage limit.

Note: For every turn that the Thorn is activated after the fifth turn, Baam will lose the boosts he gained when the Thorn was activated, returning his stats to normal, but additionally, Baam will lose -5 Intelligence, -5 Energy, and -5 Speed. Baam will also lose 5 HP every turn after the safe period of usage.

Remove the description on Baam's Myun, since those should increase based on technique's rank and not on your bio's rank. As for Baangs, it should be limited to 3 at Rank 4, and could increase as his bio rank increases. Similar to how Mordred's robots function and Panthalassa's summonings, these Baangs would be the base of your powers and would need to be submitted with their own stats equal to your rank (D ranks = 60 stats to spread for them and this increases by +20 each rank). The other things can be submitted as techs and fall on how you make them/pantha's judgment.

Removed Baam's Myun and decreased the maximum amount of Baangs. Also set Baangs on a rank-based increase.

I do have a bit of an issue though. You said that Baangs needed a base technique for me to be able to use them, and the statistics of the Baangs would be based on the rank at which I submit the technique. Judging from your example of Pantha's summons and Mordred's robots, I want to make a note that Baangs aren't sentient, they're more or less a mold for Shinsoo to be released in (Similar to Chakra, how it's not sentient but it is comprised of the energy that keeps people alive, and could be used to make sentient constructs on a technique basis). Would that still require me to make Baangs as a sort of summons?

If you haven't read Tower of God (It's a very good Manhwa), this is essentially how Baangs work. They're generated within a very short range of the user and fire off compressed Shinsoo to attack the opponent. Baangs can also be generated in less concentrated forms around the user's body to act like armor, or to augment attacks.
