It's impossible to compare those two with each others as they are completely different.

That you're even trying -_-
its also kinda retarded lord of the rings was arguably the best fantasy books of the century

harry potter is ok but lord of the rings is WAY out of its league

Lord of the Rings is not boring. People only say it is because they don't have the brainpower to understand the meaning of the words. And to compare it with Harry Potter is just...stupid. Sure HP was a good series but it's simpler than LotR and just not as brilliant. And will never be. :|

What she says. You're comparing HP which is, how you twist or turn it, just to amuse people with a story that tries blend in to the normal world, which is completely impossible.

While LOTR is a completely different history. Hp was written almost on a whim in a relatively short time. Tolkien worked his entire life on the history of LOTR. He made a history of more than 10 000 years with its own languages, cities, myths, legends, songs etc.

HP is fun to read and easier to understand than LOTR and if you just want to read, yes then you should read HP. However beyond all doubt LOTR is better. To put it simple HP is down to earth, while LOTR has an almost divine status.

I have nothing more to add.
Due to the reasons above LotR is better.

I'll definetly go for the Lord Of the Rings, Harry Poter is a book made for underage kids (atleast from my point of view, no hard feelings). And tLotR is readable for any age, I started reading even before the film came out, and I prefer the book.Since then ive read it like a houndred times and I still cant find it boring.

well there not in the same category .... lotr: sunday times : Readers split in 2 categories -> the ones who read lord or the rings and the ones who will read it ..... great adventure the best fantasy book of the century and maybe of all time ( really i mean it ) movies are great , there are no homo comments about the book or something like , i recomend it and there is Harrypotter: international bestseller , i kinda like it but i dont understand how you can COMEPARE LOTR WITH HARRY POTTER !...... AND BTW SOME OF YOU PEOPLE DONT LIKE LOTR BECAUSE YOU SEEN THE MOVIES SEVERAL TIMES YOU KNOW THE STORY AND THE BOOK WAS WRITTEN A LONG TIME AGO STILL LOTR IS THE BEST I RECOMEND IT ! ... read it and you will understand why .

Re: Lord of the rings or Harry Poter

Ok but add up the 3 lord of the rings extended editions and the hobbit when its finished next yr and i think its as long if not longer than harry potter lol
there is also the Silmarillion plus the huge appendix

and you really cant compare something as amazing as lord of the rings to harry potter even if you watched the movie first (which i did) the book is still much better b/c well the movie left out a LOT like bombadil and the other dunadin ect...
