Perform the technique: I start by performing the Snake Hand Seal and gathering Chakra in my right hand. I use high-freq vibrations to create Lightning Style Chakra, which I then mold into a spear shape in my hand. As I gather, channel, compress and shape the Chakra in my hand, I prepare to throw it at a far off target. I toss the spear at a large, far off rock, and as the spear reaches Close Range of it, I use my Chakra to split it into a few separate spears of Lightning. They carve through and destroy the rock easily, before dissipating.
Creative uses/strengths: Simple, destructive, quick to execute and for quick executions, this technique is awesome. The fact it can be separated mid-launch adds a level of unpredictability to the Jutsu that I like. The opponent could try and counter it with a concentrated Wind Jutsu, but you split it apart instead. I think a nice combo would be to use this with something that keeps the opponent in place, like Starch Syrup Capture Field. Not only is it a Jutsu that keeps the target in place, it's Water Style, so it would conduct the Lightning while the target is trapped.
Drawbacks/counters: Basic Lightning drawbacks make this one dangerous to use, for instance, if you are doused, you are channeling S-Rank Lightning Chakra throughout your body, meaning you'd fry yourself if you aren't careful with your usage of this technique. Countering it would be easy with a High Ranked Wind Jutsu (A - S Rank) or like I said, if you are able to soak the one using this technique. Besides that it's a pretty cool Jutsu.
Perform the technique: I start by performing the Ox → Rabbit → Monkey seals and gathering Chakra in my dominant hand. The Chakra I gather manifests as a concentrated ball of energy, which I then start to change into Lightning Style Chakra. The ball of Chakra begins to glow blue as the Nature of the Chakra changes, discharging electricity around me while the Raikiri becomes fully formed. With my Chakra I can set whichever range and intensity I want the Chakra from the Raikiri to be released, as just like in the Will of Fire Movie, the Raikiri releases a steady stream of Lightning Chakra which can be damaged if it comes into contact with the target. But of course the Raikiri's main focus is in overwhelming penetrating power, the streams simply add to the power and usefulness of the Technique.
Creative uses/strengths: Tactically, this Jutsu is sound. You can use it to block any Jutsu of the same or lower Rank, as shown when Kakashi cut the False Darkness Spear with it. It has great penetrating qualities, as one would expect from a Jutsu that is based on Chidori. If you are a Kakashi fan, applying this to a Kunai, increasing it's power exponentially, is a great idea. As for actual uses of this technique, none are really coming to mind. It's a CQC Lightning Style technique, making it a bit of a gamble, as if the opponent can use even a small scale Water Jutsu, the Raikiri will just back fire on you.
Drawbacks/counters: Same as before, with it being weak to high Rank Wind, and Water, but it's also a CQC Jutsu, adding more danger to it's usage. The closer you get, the more of a chance the opponent has to kill you, and you them. It all depends on how you execute the move, like you say about the next Jutsu, it's all situational.
Perform the technique: I do as I did before, performing the Ox → Rabbit → Monkey seals and gathering Chakra into a ball in my hand. And like last time, I change the nature of this Chakra to Lightning. Like last time, it glows a bright blue, while discharging Lightning. But this time I place both my hands parallel to one another as I channel more Chakra into my other hand. This allows me to split the force of the Raikiri between my two hands, allowing even ordinary Taijutsu to become concussive and destructive.
Creative uses/strengths: Using this inconjunction with basic Taijutsu would be a great idea, packing as much force into your punches as possible. This also allow Taijutsu to do what Lightning does best. Paralyze/ numb the target through contact, and in CQC, even a small degree of numbness can affect your movements and cost you dearly.
Drawbacks/counters: Like the other techniques in Lightning, they make you a shining beacon, a bulls-eye for Water Style. Once doused, you fry yourself. Simples. Besides that, I think this is a really cool Jutsu. I don't really see anything else wrong with it, other than basic weaknesses, like Wind.
