if the shinobi knows it or just plainly blocks the katon its disarmed or if he gets what sasuke wants to do while the clouds form and he looks for space to use chidori and control the lightning. so kirin can be stopped if one is careful and intelligent
while Amaterasu is particle a surprise attack with almost no warning or preparation

keep in mind for you to use kirin u must first fire balls of fire in the sky to warm the air sooo the thunder clouds can appear for you to use kirin. look how long that takes.

the only person that we have seen to do that is the raikage..soo thats not a very effective point. thats only one person in the entire ninja world.

yes,itachi could use susano to survive,itachi?s susana had the yata no mirror that let him block every single attack,nothing coul hit him when he had susano

Their both awsome but karin does take some time to prepare while ameratsu just pops up out of no where

if you have fulfilled the preparations, kirin is better, it's a blink faster and kills instantly (with amaterasu the burning part can still be cut off), but amaterasu is easier to perform. so all in all amaterasu is more versatile.

Ameratsu because most sharingan users have to have the mangekyo sharingan just to use which also allows them to use susan'oo and not making them invicible but all ninjutsu attacks are useless to that
