[Discussion] Light Yagami vs. Johan Liebert.

Not too long ago, I believed Light was the greatest mastermind. I kinda hate to say it, but Johan makes Light look like a kid. Not to mention, Light had the power of supernatural beings. Johan was always alone, and managed to drag everyone to kill themselves. What makes Johan great is, he never trusts anyone. He never went crazy like Light did. I like Light, but I admit he became a mass murderer. He started to kill innocent people. In the other hand, Johan manipulated people with his own intelligence, he is a more developed than Light. Johan's past was very tragic though, and completely "supports" what Johan became. He is portrayed as the Anti christ.

Johan by far. Yes, it is true that Light killed many more people, however he had to use a supernatural force, in addition he did not accomplish his juvenile goal of becoming 'god' whereas Johan did get what he wanted (except for the 'perfect suicide' perhaps). On top of this, Light's greatest flaw is his ego and fears death like any other human, but Johan has no such flaw and welcomes death.

All in all, Johan is a much more mysterious and compelling character. Light is great but is outshined by L in my opinion and physically loses in the end, Johan did not lose however, or at least it did not seem this way.

Indeed - Johan is by far the best villain in anime, the depth of his character is simply phenomenal. Johan and Monster really don't get enough attention, which is a shame. Nevertheless, Johan is brilliant, and so is Monster.

Interesting, almost unanimous.

I've put off Monster for a long time just because it didn't interest me. But the fact that people are saying this guy is beyond Light is truly something. Maybe it's time I looked into this anime
